Approximately $30 billion is paid each year to Canadians for medical treatment, loss of wages, repairs to damaged property or for the replacement of goods and services. Careers in insurance offer stability and significant opportunities for advancement. Conestoga’s two-year diploma program will provide you with broad exposure to business practices within the insurance industry. Areas of study within property and casualty coverage include agency claims and investigation, underwriting, marketing and management. An optional co-op work-term provides you an authentic, professionally-relevant work experience. The opportunity to connect theory with practice will allow you to develop a broad base of occupational skills, embrace key concepts and terminology within the field and expose you to networking opportunities. In addition, you will have the opportunity to gain nine of the ten credits required for the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation from the Insurance Institute of Canada and you may choose to register for the CIP national exams at an additional cost in order to receive credentials awarded by the Institute.Pursue a career within the insurance industry and make a difference in the lives of those in your community. Conestoga’s one-year graduate certificate in Broadcasting Performance and Digital Media is the program to kickstart your online presence. You will learn how to shoot and edit high-quality video content, write engaging copy and perform on and off camera with confidence. This program is geared to open opportunities for storytellers and content creators of all types and interests. Building on your past education, business experience, or hobby you will create an online presence which includes a website, video series and engaging social media posts leading to opportunities as a vlogger, podcaster or influencer. Taught by faculty with direct industry experience, courses in research, interviewing, on-camera performance, and storytelling give you the skills to work as a multi-media journalist or news anchor. This program is delivered from Conestoga’s state-of-the-art radio and television studios in a hands-on environment and teaches you how to setup a home studio, increasing your opportunities for employment upon graduation. You will also learn what it takes to start your own business as a sole proprietor, when to incorporate, and how to generate leads as a freelancer. No matter what industry or educational background you specialize in, Broadcast Performance and Digital Media will give you the skills to take your online presence to the next level.

Predictive Analytics
To be successful in business today, you need to be proactive, forward thinking, and able to anticipate outcomes and behaviours based upon the data you collect. Predictive analytics is an area of statistics that deals with extracting information from data and using it to predict trends and behaviour patterns. If you have a background in computer science, computer programming, mathematics, or statistics and enjoy working with statistical data, then this could be the program for you. In this Ontario College Graduate Certificate in Predictive Analytics, you will learn about statistical applications for data analysis, data modeling practices, and big data analytical techniques. Through individual and group activities and case studies, you will use predictive modeling and analytical techniques to bring together the management, information technology, and business modeling processes in order to make predictions about future trends. Businesses and industries can use the patterns found in the data to identify risks and opportunities for future decisions and effectively interpret data for their benefit.

Business Analytics
The need for business analytics in today’s fast-paced world necessitates that employees possess the skills, technologies, and practices for continuous exploration and investigation of past business performance to gain insight into what happened and why. A well-trained business analyst will use the insights to help drive change and business planning within organizations. You will learn how to describe, interpret, and inform business decisions in specific areas of data-driven business. You will improve your data literacy skills and develop an analytic mindset that will help you make strategic decisions based on data. The Business Analytics Ontario College Graduate Certificate program focuses on two of the four types of analytics used in business - Descriptive Analytics and Diagnostics Analytics. Using these two types of analytics, you will practice summarizing data findings to communicate what is currently going on in business and help stakeholders see what contributed to the outcome of your findings.

As a student in the Woodworking Technician program, you will study at one of the most advanced woodworking training facilities in North America. You will receive a solid foundation in the skills and technology involved in the manufacture of furniture, cabinets and architectural millwork, as well as training in modern manufacturing techniques. During the first year of the program, which is common with the Woodworking Technology program, you will spend a significant amount of time learning the set-up and operation of woodworking machinery and equipment, laminating, veneering, machining, sanding, assembly and finishing. The second year, which is also common with the Woodworking Technology program, involves extensive project work, introduction to production management skills, manufacturing of kitchen cabinets and architectural millwork.

The Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Certificates and Diplomas program offers two semesters of full-time study. It is designed for students who wish to concentrate on the health sciences field and prepares students for application to Conestoga College's School of Health Sciences certificate and diploma programs. Students will be introduced to the health sciences field, to college life and college workload, and will be able to increase their competitiveness to support their application to health sciences programs.

This program is designed to give students the skills and knowledge needed to effectively create, install and maintain functional renewable energy systems. Students are introduced to the different sectors of the renewable energy field. Both theoretical and practical applications in solar power, wind, solar thermal technologies and other forms of alternative energies will be explored.

Project Management
Learn how to manage simple to complex projects from start to finish, and become a critical part of an organization’s most exciting achievements. Develop the skills you need to oversee project management activities such as planning, managing scope, costs, time while balancing client expectations. Learn organizational Agility with practices such as Scrum. Establish goals for your project team and lead them to overcome obstacles to achieve success, meeting stakeholders needs. Earn project management education hours towards a variety of certifications: Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), Project Management Professional (PMP), Agile Scrum Master (ASM), Risk Management Professional (RMP), or Agile Certified Practitioner (ACP) designations. Global Business Management
The Global Business Management graduate program provides an internationally-focused body of knowledge and skills for individuals interested in extending their business understanding beyond the domestic environment. The curriculum emphasizes the skills and knowledge necessary to operate in different roles within international cultural, legal and political contexts. This broad-based program will explore the field of management both in theory and through practical applications considering different organizational lenses. Graduates will be eligible to apply for the FITT (Forum for International Trade Training) diploma, and the CITP (Certified International Trade Professional) designation (subject to one year of work experience).

This Bachelor of Community and Criminal Justice is a four-year, paid co-op degree program that emphasizes the importance of individual values, principled leadership, and inter-professional and multi-sector collaboration to address both individual and societal issues related to crime, community safety and community wellbeing. Our program is anchored to a strong foundation in values, service and action, and draws from a rich network of community and institutional collaborators and partners. Through an intentionally designed learning journey, students are exposed to ideas and they learn skills that will enable them to contribute and adapt to changing needs and demands. Our “ecological” focus on individuals, groups, organizations and society helps students tackle the increasing complexity of the community safety landscape. Our combination of classroom based and work integrated learning forms a “bridge to practice”, so students can develop the capabilities that will position them as preferred graduates for the labour market of the next decade.

The Bachelor of Design is a four-year degree in visual design with a complement of courses in entrepreneurship, marketing, and management. The program will ensure graduates have both the creative and visual acuity, and the knowledge of business strategy, that are necessary to create design solutions for current market needs. Conestoga’s Bachelor of Design is unique in Ontario for offering students a truly interprofessional perspective that blends visual design, entrepreneurship, and liberal studies courses with co-op opportunities, enhanced studio space, printing facilities and access to advanced technology, as well as state-of-the-art on-campus facilities. Limited enrolment and small class sizes ensure student access to faculty with professional experience in the fields of visual design and business development. As a comprehensive design program, students take courses in typography, visual design, colour theory, design studio, drawing and illustration, photography, interactive design, as well as entrepreneurship, branding, marketing, business management, writing and presentation skills, and group dynamics. The program employs a project-based learning approach that addresses design and entrepreneurship skills, as well as a variety of prescient issues including accessibility, sustainability, and corporate and social responsibility. Students engage in dynamic studio projects for both in-class and live clients.
