Diploma in Mechanical Technician - Tool and Die/Tool Maker (Co-op Optional)

Today's secondary wood manufacturing sector strongly benefits from the use of computerized numerical control (CNC) equipment in areas such as architectural millwork, kitchen cabinets, and furniture components. If you have an interest in the woodworking industry and a desire to program and set-up CNC machines, this program is well-suited for you. 
This one-year Ontario College Certificate will provide you with the skills to apply CNC techniques to develop programs for various CNC equipment such as beam saws, nesting routers, point-to-point machining centers, drills and dovetail machines. Through active, hands-on learning you will gain practical knowledge of the equipment, as well as best practices used in CNC programming within a variety of industrial settings. Program work is completed in a 50,000 square foot state-of-the art facility using modern equipment.

This program is intended for students who wish to develop a basic level of competence in business. Students will study the principles of business organization, accounting, marketing, operations management, and business communications. Completion of the program will assist students to confirm their intentions and to define the business discipline they wish to study should they choose to continue with one of Conestoga's business or business administration programs. 

Upon completion of the program students will be able to transfer directly into the second semester of Business diploma programs: Business, Business Administration Management, Accounting and Supply Chain and Operations Management. Alternatively, students will receive up to 7 transfer credits towards other Business diploma programs. Students who achieve over 75% in their first semester can apply for an early transfer to Level 1 of Business or a Business Administration program should they choose to.

Conestoga College's Business Supply Chain and Operations for Commercial Trucking program will prepare you to work with clients, border crossing agents, and their internal team to be an asset to the supply chain process and optimize business efficiencies and relations. In this program, you will focus on trucking operations, logistics, and business principles. Some of the areas of focus include transportation communication, customer service, freight calculations, hours of service, e-logging legislation, geography, logistics business practices, and driving simulation. Your learning will ensure you are well-prepared for a career specifically in the transportation sector in Canada. Graduates are positioned to begin their AZ licensing with an affiliated 3rd party trainer if commercial driving is their career goal.

If you are attracted to modern manufacturing technologies and enjoy working with machines, this skills-based program will appeal to you. It prepares you for entry into the tool and die/tool maker skilled trade or related career in the manufacturing sector, including apprenticeship. You will learn the high-precision hand fitting, positioning, aligning and assembly techniques involved in the production of stamping dies. Also, the program incorporates a number of months of paid co-op education work, and covers all the learning outcomes for Level 1 and Level 2 of the related apprenticeship program in Ontario. As a graduate of this program, you may not be required to complete the in-school apprenticeship training or take an exemption exam for Levels 1 and 2 should you choose to pursue a tool and die maker apprenticeship. The optional co-op stream includes two back-to-back co-op work terms.

Applying to the Co-op Stream

• All applicants apply to the non co-op program. Students will be informed of the application deadline and process to apply for the Co-op Stream. Labour market conditions determine the number of co-op seats in optional co-op programs. Every student who meets academic eligibility requirements may not be admitted to the co-op stream.
• To be considered for admission to the co-op stream, students are required to achieve a minimum 65% session weighted average as well as successful completion of Precision Machining Theory I (MACH1940) and Precision Machining Practice I (MACH1955).
• Students who are not admitted into the Co-op stream or students in the non-co-op stream will have co-op semesters off instead of participating in co-op work terms. These off semesters enable students to gain part-time or full-time work or volunteer experience to build their resume and/or can catch up on academic work if scheduling permits.

• The College cannot guarantee co-op employment. All co-op students are required to conduct an independent co-op job search in addition to the supports and services provided by the Department of Co-op Education.
• Students are responsible for their own transportation and associated costs in order to complete work term requirements. Work locations may not always be readily accessible by public transportation.

This unique two-year graduate certificate program is geared to experienced internationally educated nurses holding a four-year bachelor's degree in nursing. The program will support you in acquiring essential nursing knowledge and skills required to practice within the Canadian healthcare system, with a focus on caring for seniors throughout the continuum of care. You will learn from experienced nursing faculty in active learning environments such as state-of-the-art nursing laboratories and immersive simulation suites. Emphasis is placed on development of professional practices including nursing assessment, intervention, care planning, and critical inquiry and evidence-informed decision making. The program is developed based on the College of Nurses of Ontario professional standards and entry to practice competencies for Registered Nurses. Learning of Canadian nursing practices will occur through a variety of evaluation methodologies including, scholarly writing, case studies, projects, presentations, and simulated patient encounters. You will apply theory to practice during field placement in diverse healthcare settings including medicine, surgery, complex continuing care, and long-term care. This program provides you with extensive hands-on clinical experience, including over 400 placement hours. In addition, in preparation for the nursing registration examination, you will complete NCLEX and OSCE style courses.

Quality Assurance - Manufacturing and Management

This two-semester Quality Assurance Manufacturing and Management Ontario College Graduate Certificate will provide you with the knowledge and techniques to improve the delivery and quality of goods and services. This program focuses on the use of modern quality improvement and problem solving methods that support the achievement of performance excellence in manufacturing and associated business processes. Process Quality Engineering
This advanced-level graduate certificate program provides individuals with the knowledge and techniques to improve the delivery and quality of products and services. The material that is taught in this program can be applied within any area of an organization. The focus of this program is on the achievement of performance excellence through the use of modern quality improvement methods. The program develops the skills required to perform process quality roles in a broad range of organizations and sectors.The program content aligns favourably with selected American Society of Quality's (ASQ) Bodies of Knowledge. In this Ontario College Graduate Certificate in Predictive Analytics, you will learn about statistical applications for data analysis, data modeling practices, and big data analytical techniques. This innovative program emphasizes the evidenced-based nutritional care of people from all ages and stages of life, providing instruction in community and clinical nutrition management, as well as in the marketing and promotion of nutritious living. Students will further receive instruction in food service and human resource management, highlighting innovation in menu development, customer service and product selection. Financial management of food services, food safety, food sciences, professional practice and quality management will be integrated throughout the program, to best prepare students for the food and nutrition workplace. Instruction will include integrated online, classroom, and simulation opportunities, to provide students with the opportunity to practice their practical skills prior to entering into the workforce.
