Diploma in Practical Nursing

This four-level English for Academic Studies program focuses on the listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills required for college/university studies. Students start at a level determined by scores on an in-house placement test or an internationally-recognized English language test such as TOEFL or IELTS. In levels 2 and 3, students reinforce English skills through Canadian Perspectives courses, as well as through core English skills courses. Concurrent with English studies in Level 4, students take post-secondary credit courses including Student Success for Higher Learning. 

Domestic students (Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and refugees or convention refugees) wishing to pursue English language studies should enrol in General Arts and Science: English Language Studies.

To effectively contribute as a leader in today's manufacturing sector, it is important for you to have an understanding of project direction, manufacturing design software, communication, human resources and safety practices. If you are a graduate of an engineering or engineering technology program and want to expand your knowledge, the Applied Manufacturing Management program will bolster your leadership skills aimed for a manufacturing sector. This Ontario College Graduate Certificate will help you launch your leadership career within a Canadian manufacturing environment. In this program you will apply project lifecycle techniques and develop the ability to utilize and integrate complex manufacturing design software. Team management skills will be refined to aid in meeting Canadian industry goals. Through theoretical and practical courses, you will be exposed to real life situations that arise in the workplace. You will work individually and in groups using current software to simulate the management of manufacturing initiatives while incorporating quality assurance, and process and project management techniques. You will focus on meeting challenges in a production environment from both operational and strategic perspectives in this management-tailored program.

Graduates of the Public Relations - Integrated Communications program will deal with the needs of organizations todevelop and execute integrated communication plans that inform, motivate, and gain support from the public and contribute to organizational communications objectives. This integrated communication process relies on researching public behaviour and developing targeted strategies from a variety of disciplines into a cohesive plan. Strategy is followed by the writing and designing of professional digital, print and graphic communications tactics. Students will conduct research with an emphasis on analysis and assess the implications of public relations, marketing, advertising, social media, direct marketing and branding. The final semester includes an individual client-based capstone project that links learning with real-world application. The importance of business ethics; leadership; professional relationships and development; and professional societies in the broad communications field will be emphasized throughout the program. The optional co-op stream includes one co-op work term.

The Business – Finance program is a two-year diploma that prepares students for entry-level careers in the financial services sector. Students will acquire a broad range of customer service skills for a variety of employment settings in all sectors of business and industry, including banks and other financial institutions, government offices, small businesses and financial planning firms. Graduates of the program are able to apply computer, communication and mathematical skills, and employ financial planning and service techniques to support activities, including the maintenance, preparation and presentation of individuals’ or organizations’ financial documents and statements and individuals’ tax returns. In addition, graduates collaborate on a number of more complex functions, including financial analysis, planning and control.

Public relations is the management function of building mutually beneficial relationships between organizations and the public. In this highly interactive program, students will learn strategic and creative communication strategies to solve organizational problems or make the most of business opportunities with key publics. Students will apply creative writing and tactical execution developed with a foundation of business knowledge. A field placement opportunity is provided in the last semester to gain career experience before graduating.

Project Management
Learn how to manage simple to complex projects from start to finish, and become a critical part of an organization’s most exciting achievements. Develop the skills you need to oversee project management activities such as planning, managing scope, costs, time while balancing client expectations. Learn organizational Agility with practices such as Scrum. Establish goals for your project team and lead them to overcome obstacles to achieve success, meeting stakeholders needs. Earn project management education hours towards a variety of certifications: Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), Project Management Professional (PMP), Agile Scrum Master (ASM), Risk Management Professional (RMP), or Agile Certified Practitioner (ACP) designations. Supply Chain Management - Global
The Supply Chain Management - Global program prepares students for careers in the fields of logistics, procurement, supply chain and operations. Through extensive practical learning activities, students enhance their knowledge of supply chain concepts applicable to a variety of sectors. Graduates will be well-prepared to support the management of job functions by examining the connections between strategic objectives, stakeholder expectations, and supply chain design, functions, processes and roles; determining the value-added and financial implications of supply chain decisions and design on business profitability, efficiency and stakeholder satisfaction; using risk mitigation tools and strategies; reviewing supply chain activities and transactions for compliance with relevant policies, standards, legal, regulatory and contractual obligations; collaborating with, and using leadership and communication skills to build strategic relationships with a diversity of stakeholders. Conestoga’s one-year graduate certificate in Motion Graphics provides you with a modern learning environment for creating seamless animated artwork and sequences, allowing you to pursue a career as a motion graphic designer, interactive media editor, post-production editor, or to integrate these elements into your current profession. Throughout the program, you will draw upon theory and techniques of the design, digital media, and animation worlds to conceptualize and create captivating 2D and 3D digital media for a variety of online and mobile applications. Courses are taught by faculty with direct industry experience and cover a broad range of applications such as advanced image capturing and editing techniques, typography, colour theory, green screen techniques, rendering, digital compositing, and post production. Courses also feature a mix of teaching and hands-on lab time, giving you the space to develop and perfect your skills using leading-edge content editing software. Designed to reflect the requirements and workflows found in industry, the program includes both individual and collaborative team-based projects, design iteration, the use of professional design briefs, and budget considerations. Throughout the program, you will develop a portfolio of original work that speaks to your unique strengths. To further support your transition to the workforce, the program facilitates a field placement where you will be given the opportunity to apply your skills on real projects.

The Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) – Financial Services degree program provides the opportunity to develop necessary planning competencies, professional skills, and required technical knowledge needed for a career in financial services. This four-year program, delivered at the honours level, offers a clear pathway to many successful and exciting career opportunities in banking, insurance, investment management, and estate and financial planning. You will learn through a combination of active learning approaches, which include group work, major individual case analyses, multiple projects requiring industry engagement, and meetings with industry professionals outside of the college. By the mid-point of this program, the faculty team ensures you will be ready to begin your preferred major – either in financial planning or property and casualty insurance. Whichever major you choose, you will encounter a blend of extensive technical analyses and opportunities to develop your professional ‘soft’ skills. You will apply and further refine your program-related skills and abilities through an 8-month, paid, full-time co-op work-term situated between third and fourth year. The program curriculum is aligned with the body of knowledge and course requirements (in whole or in part) for a number of professional licenses. As a successful graduate of the Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) – Financial Services degree program, you will meet the pre-requisite conditions to challenge professional examinations and/or receive advanced standing into the following licenses/designations:

• Personal Financial Planner (PFP) granted by the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI)
• Qualified Associate Financial Planner (QAFP) granted by Financial Planning Canada (FP Canada)
• FP Canada’s Certified Financial Planner (CFP)
• Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP)

Business Administration - Accounting is one of five business administration programs at Conestoga College. Students in this advanced diploma program acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for careers in an intermediate-level accounting position, along with the fundamentals necessary for advancement to managerial positions. Advanced financial accounting, managerial skills, cost-accounting systems and controls, computerized accounting and income tax knowledge are emphasized. Students learn computer skills in up-to-date labs, gaining familiarity with current versions of accounting software and other business software.

Conestoga’s Media Foundations program helps you build a broad media skill set for online and broadcast media giving you an opportunity to explore areas of creative industries and to find your passion. Whether you want to be a photographer, multimedia content creator, producer, visual storyteller or a marketing and communications expert, and are not sure where to start, this one-year certificate program can help you build a solid practical and theoretical grounding in creativity, technology, media-related processes, and professionalism. Over two semesters, faculty with current industry experience will provide guidance as you generate ideas, write, present, capture images, and use online and social media platforms to strengthen your storytelling skills. You will work on both individual and collaborative team projects, using industry standard software and technology, giving you an opportunity to build a competitive portfolio of original work. Media Foundations prepares you for further education in various Creative Industries programs, such as Broadcast Radio, Broadcasting-Television and Independent Production, Journalism, Advertising and Marketing Communications.
