What will I learn?
The Bachelor of Environmental Design Studies is a two-year program entered after completing two years of university studies in another subject. You take courses in design, humanities, technology and professional practice.
You'll work individually and collaboratively on design projects in the studio, learning manual skills in drawing, modeling, and building and then the equivalent digital skills.

The four-month co-op work term is a great way to begin applying new knowledge in a professional architectural practice. Co-op work terms include opportunities across the country and around the world and typically involve various aspects of building design, including design drawing, model-making, computer drafting and construction supervision.  

The International Food Business program is a unique opportunity for students who are interested in understanding the global food industry from the farm gate to the consumer's plate. This one-of-a-kind program at the Faculty of Agriculture in Truro, N.S., will award you two degrees within the standard four years of study: a Bachelor of Business Administration from Aeres University in the Netherlands and a Bachelor of Agriculture in International Food Business from Dalhousie.

What will I learn?
In year one, North American students will study at Dalhousie and European students will study at Aeres. Year two is offered in the Netherlands, where both groups of students will study and explore together. This continues in year three when both groups of students study at Dalhousie's Faculty of Agriculture at the Agricultural Campus in Truro, N.S. You complete year four at your home university.

Our innovative team and module-based program of study is built around the competencies you'll need to succeed as a business leader in the international food industry. During ten modules presented over the first three years of the four-year degree, you'll be introduced to a range of food business concepts, including global supply chain logistics and new product development.

In these modules, you'll be assigned a series of real business tasks that become progressively more involved. To help you successfully complete these tasks, you'll be assigned internationally experienced professors who will provide key theories, concepts, skills, and practices.

Whether caring directly for patients, conducting valuable research or engaged in public policy advocacy, nurses make a difference in the quality of people's lives. Dal's Nursing program will prepare you to apply current evidence and respond with professionalism to the health and illness needs of people in a variety of health-care settings: hospitals, homes, schools, businesses, clinics and communities. Pharmacists take medication histories, identify goals for drug therapy, provide education to patients regarding medications, make recommendations to other health-care providers about drug therapy, and much more. You'll gain the knowledge and skills to provide drug therapy toward improving patient health. The program’s curriculum offers problem-based learning (PBL) and other types of courses, which may include tutorials, lectures, labs, and practical experience in various settings.

What will I learn?
The pharmacy program delivers course content primarily through problem-based learning (PBL) modules. In the first year of the program, you’ll take courses in biomedical sciences, covering all essential subjects including anatomy, biochemistry, microbiology, pharmacology, and physiology. 

These courses are fully integrated in years two through four, covering not only the scientific side of pharmacy, but also the social. You'll look at such topics as therapeutics, pharmaceutical care, inter-professional relations, law and ethics, social and administrative pharmacy issues, and the role of pharmacy in the health-care system.

The Bachelor of Music offers centered music concentrates to get ready alumni for vocations or further examination in numerous territories, including execution, hypothesis, musicology, and that's only the tip of the iceberg. After completing your first two years (and earning an Engineering diploma), you will move to the Halifax campus to complete the final two years of your degree.

Industrial Engineers optimize processes and systems by finding ways to save time, money, energy, and materials. Through mathematical models, Industrial Engineers design systems and methods that will help businesses meet their production goals. Whether it's streamlining the manufacturing processes of automobiles to make cars more affordable or optimizing the nursing staff at a hospital to improve patient care, career options span a range of industries.

While studying at our Agricultural Campus in Truro, you gain insights into problem solving, diagnostics and whole-system analysis. You learn business and science in the context of social and environmental responsibility, using sustainable production systems. You acquire a theoretical knowledge of plants. 

The students learn by doing: through labs, experiments, and growth trials, they develop a practical skill-set through hands-on experiences.
You see first-hand how environmental factors affect plant growth. You'll propagate plants, glean from the soil what makes them grow, and discover how to control and improve that growth. You also learn how to grow a plant-dependent business and your education will set you apart from everyone else in the job market.

Co-op options
Co-op students take the same academic program as the non co-op program; however, our co-op option gives you an opportunity to complement your studies with three paid work terms.

When you study Plant Science at Dalhousie, you’ll gain a solid understanding of the ideas and methods used in biological, physical and behavioural sciences. You’ll acquire a very sound knowledge of plants, along with practical and life-long learning skills, all while studying at Dalhousie's beautiful Agricultural Campus in Truro, N.S.

What will I learn?
Plant Science will give you the knowledge and skills to research and investigate real-world problems associated with food security, quality and wellness. You’ll also dive into contemporary issues related to environmental integrity, biotechnology, plant breeding, sustainable crop production and more.

You will learn both the theory and practices related to the study of plants and their production. Your studies may lead you to expertise in many sub-disciplines such as fruit, vegetable, ornamental or field crops. You may focus on the genetics or physiology of plants or learn how to manage different types of farming systems.

In your first year of study, you’ll take foundation-building science courses in biology, chemistry, calculus and agricultural ecosystems and microeconomics. In your upper years you’ll study more in-depth subjects such as structural botany, entomology, plant pathology and soil fertility and nutrients. Students can tailor their degree to their personal interests by choosing from numerous electives.  

The program also includes production courses which provide students with opportunities to gain knowledge and skills focused on areas of production such as greenhouse and floriculture, forages and cover crops, organic field crop management plus many others.
