Dalhousie University introduced the Master of Engineering (MEng) in Internetworking in 1997. Offered through the Faculties of Engineering and Graduate Studies, it's the world's longest-running graduate program dedicated to Internetworking. 

The MEng in Internetworking is a two-year course-based program that covers a range of topics related to the industry, including current technology and its past and future evolution. This intensive degree program provides students with practical experience and the solid, theoretical background necessary to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of technology and the challenges that lie ahead.

We’re a nationally accredited school that offers a Bachelor of Health Science (BHSc) in four professional disciplines: Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Radiological Technology, and Respiratory Therapy. We also offer Medical Laboratory Technology in the Post Diploma program. We’re the only fully integrated four-year university-based program of this kind in Canada.

DIAGNOSTIC MEDICAL ULTRASOUND
Who are Sonographers?
Sonographers are highly skilled health care professionals who use ultrasound (sound waves) to look inside a patient's body, evaluate the condition of various organs and record digital pictures.

Sonographers evaluate organs and structures such as the liver, kidneys, heart, thyroid, blood vessels, muscles, ovaries and developing babies. Sonographers provide a summary of what they've discovered and discuss their findings with specialized doctors, who use this information to make a diagnosis.

 How do I become a Sonographer?
The School of Health Sciences offers a four year Bachelor of Health Science (BHSc) degree program, which includes theory and practice. Students will take core professional development courses with a concentration on ultrasound specific knowledge and skills. A diploma option is possible after completion of Year 3.  The program curriculum offers the necessary competencies to challenge the Sonography Canada professional examinations.

If you love science, the Dalhousie Integrated Science Program (DISP) is for you. You’ll get a well-rounded understanding of a variety of scientific disciplines and how they're linked together. Integrated Science is not a degree program; it’s a foundation-building year in the sciences. After finishing Integrated Science in your first year, you’ll join other Bachelor of Science (BSc) students in second-year courses and continue through to graduation, majoring in a field of your choice.

What will I learn?
Integrated Science is a good choice if you're interested in many sciences and unsure which area you’d like to focus on. The interdisciplinary nature of the program also ensures you get skills in field work, lab work and the process of conducting scientific research.

The core of the Integrated Science program is composed of Integrated Science I and II, which are equivalent to two terms of Biology and Psychology and one term of Earth Sciences and Statistics. Along with Ethics in Science, students will fulfill the writing requirements for BSc students. Students will also register for co-requisite courses in Chemistry and Calculus which are taken alongside other BSc students.

Integrated Science students learn on and off campus through group work, hands-on field trips, lab experiments and computer-based exercises. Most students who enroll in Integrated Science in their first year at Dalhousie also end up completing an honours degree in science.  

The public sector is made up of governments and their agencies, from the international level to the local level. It includes other publicly funded bodies, such as hospitals, schools, government corporations (CBC, Canada Post, Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, etc.) and many not-for-profit organizations. The MPA degree will prepare you for the realities of working in the public sector, where the internal environment (visioning and goal-setting, decision-making, managing, accountability and conduct) is distinct from the for-profit sector.

NUCLEAR MEDICINE TECHNOLOGY
Who are Nuclear Medicine Technologists?
Nuclear Medicine Technologists are highly skilled health care professionals who use radioactive drugs called radiopharmaceuticals to help diagnose and treat a variety of illnesses. They treat patients of all age groups, from newborns to older adults.

What do Nuclear Medicine Technologists do?
Nuclear Medicine Technologists perform examinations that evaluate how the body functions. There are many diagnostic and therapeutic procedures Nuclear Medicine Technologists are responsible for performing; the most common organs evaluated/treated are:

How do I become a Nuclear Medicine Technologist?

Materials engineering is indispensible in supplying materials to any industrialized nation. Materials engineers look at how materials are made; how and why certain materials are chosen for the manufacturing of different products like computers or cars; and how materials can be improved. 

Metals and materials are found in every aspect of society today. Materials have always been central to the advancement of civilization so it is not surprising that entire eras are named after them (bronze age, iron age). The importance of developing new, advanced materials is truly a global issue with societal demands for things such as more fuel efficient vehicles and faster computer processors reaching all time highs. Materials Engineers are the driving force behind such developments, having an unsurpassed understanding of the respective structure, properties and processing of materials. Consequently, graduates are employed in practically all industries. Principals amongst these are primary metal production, automotive, aerospace, government research establishments and consulting firms. Literally all graduates find immediate employment - historically, over 70% have secured full time positions before the start of their final academic term. These niche individuals are highly respected within the companies that they work for and many advance into upper managerial and executive positions.
