What will I learn?
Biochemistry and Molecular Biology are the molecular basis of life. You’ll get a deeper understanding of the biological function of large molecules such as proteins and DNA and interpret complex processes that define all living organisms.

You'll begin with foundation courses in biology and chemistry. Then, after an introduction to biochemistry theory and laboratory skills, you'll begin specialization in areas of biochemistry and molecular biology.  In fourth year, you'll have the opportunity to complete an honours project, gaining experience in hands-on laboratory research. Students will also have the opportunity to complete work terms through the co-op education program.

European Studies is a multi-disciplinary program that enables understudies to take courses all through the workforce of Arts and Social Sciences. Our understudies get a wide base ever, language, governmental issues, and culture, and go on to a wide assortment of professions and graduate projects.

WHY STUDY HEALTH SCIENCES AT DAL?
We’re a nationally accredited school that offers a Bachelor of Health Science (BHSc) in four professional disciplines: Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Radiological Technology, and Respiratory Therapy. We also offer Medical Laboratory Technology in the Post Diploma program. We’re the only fully integrated four-year university-based program of this kind in Canada.

Who are Respiratory Therapists?
Respiratory therapists (RTs) are highly skilled health care professionals who help people with their breathing. RTs care for patients by evaluating, treating and maintaining heart and lung function. They treat all age groups, from newborns to the elderly.

Respiratory therapists work in a variety of hospital and/or community settings:

How do I become a Respiratory Therapist?
The School of Health Sciences offers a four year Bachelor of Health Science (BHSc) degree program, which includes theory and practice. Students will take core professional development courses with a  concentration on respiratory therapy specific skills. A diploma option is possible after completion of Year 3.   The program curriculum offers the necessary competencies to challenge the national certification examination administered by the Canadian Board for Respiratory Care (CBRC).

If so, Small Business Management could be your next step. In completing the Small Business Management program, you will earn much more than an undergraduate degree. The program complements and enhances the technical expertise gained in your initial twoyear diploma program and positions you for careers in business management or ownership. With only an extra two years, students can build onto and transform their college diploma into a degree.

After completing your first two years (and earning an Engineering diploma), you will move to the Halifax campus to complete the final two years of your degree.

BENG IN INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING
Industrial Engineers optimize processes and systems by finding ways to save time, money, energy, and materials. Through mathematical models, Industrial Engineers design systems and methods that will help businesses meet their production goals. Whether it's streamlining the manufacturing processes of automobiles to make cars more affordable or optimizing the nursing staff at a hospital to improve patient care, career options span a range of industries.

Pharmacists take medication histories, identify goals for drug therapy, provide education to patients regarding medications, make recommendations to other health-care providers about drug therapy, and much more. You'll gain the knowledge and skills to provide drug therapy toward improving patient health. The program’s curriculum offers problem-based learning (PBL) and other types of courses, which may include tutorials, lectures, labs, and practical experience in various settings.

What will I learn?
The pharmacy program delivers course content primarily through problem-based learning (PBL) modules. In the first year of the program, you’ll take courses in biomedical sciences, covering all essential subjects including anatomy, biochemistry, microbiology, pharmacology, and physiology. 

These courses are fully integrated in years two through four, covering not only the scientific side of pharmacy, but also the social. You'll look at such topics as therapeutics, pharmaceutical care, inter-professional relations, law and ethics, social and administrative pharmacy issues, and the role of pharmacy in the health-care system.
