The students learn by doing: through labs, experiments, and growth trials, they develop a practical skill-set through hands-on experiences.
You see first-hand how environmental factors affect plant growth. You'll propagate plants, glean from the soil what makes them grow, and discover how to control and improve that growth. What will I learn?
The Bachelor of Environmental Design Studies is a two-year program entered after completing two years of university studies in another subject. You take courses in design, humanities, technology and professional practice.
You'll work individually and collaboratively on design projects in the studio, learning manual skills in drawing, modeling, and building and then the equivalent digital skills.

The four-month co-op work term is a great way to begin applying new knowledge in a professional architectural practice. Co-op work terms include opportunities across the country and around the world and typically involve various aspects of building design, including design drawing, model-making, computer drafting and construction supervision.  

WHY STUDY HEALTH SCIENCES AT DAL?
We’re a nationally accredited school that offers a Bachelor of Health Science (BHSc) in four professional disciplines: Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Radiological Technology, and Respiratory Therapy. We also offer Medical Laboratory Technology in the Post Diploma program. We’re the only fully integrated four-year university-based program of this kind in Canada.

DIAGNOSTIC MEDICAL ULTRASOUND
Who are Sonographers?
Sonographers are highly skilled health care professionals who use ultrasound (sound waves) to look inside a patient's body, evaluate the condition of various organs and record digital pictures.

Sonographers evaluate organs and structures such as the liver, kidneys, heart, thyroid, blood vessels, muscles, ovaries and developing babies. Sonographers provide a summary of what they've discovered and discuss their findings with specialized doctors, who use this information to make a diagnosis.

 How do I become a Sonographer?
The School of Health Sciences offers a four year Bachelor of Health Science (BHSc) degree program, which includes theory and practice. Students will take core professional development courses with a concentration on ultrasound specific knowledge and skills. A diploma option is possible after completion of Year 3.  The program curriculum offers the necessary competencies to challenge the Sonography Canada professional examinations.

Why study Marine Biology at Dal?
If you’re passionate about the ocean, Dalhousie is where you want to be. We’re a national leader in marine biology education and research. You’ll learn in the classroom, lab and out in the field. You could find yourself on the water studying the behaviour of sperm whales, running your own underwater experiments, examining the diet of grey seals or assessing the diversity of marine birds.

What will I learn?
There’s no better place to learn about the ocean than right here in Halifax, Nova Scotia. You’ll venture out to the ocean, both on shore and on the water. You’ll observe examples of Atlantic Canada’s spectacular marine life. You’ll get first-hand experience in various research methods, like gathering live samples and collecting and assessing data. These are just a few of the advantages of studying marine biology at Dalhousie.

During your first two years, you’ll take general biology courses and foundation-building science courses. In third and fourth year, you’ll explore the ecology, diversity, physiology and other aspects of marine animals and plants in greater depth. Many marine biology students combine their studies with courses in chemistry or physics of the ocean, which are offered through the Department of Oceanography.

Marine biology students are offered a co-op education option. Students who take advantage of the co-op option will be able to complete three work terms in industry, government or university laboratories, or ecotourism.

Chemical Engineering combines the principles of mathematics, chemistry and physics with engineering practices in order to improve the human environment. Chemical engineers deal with the transformation of raw materials into products we use every day – from soaps and cosmetics to plastics and food processing. Chemical Engineers have been long been regarded as the most versatile of all engineers; yet many opportunities exist to specialize in a particular area.

There's no other program like it in Canada. Our Bachelor of Management provides an innovative and interdisciplinary program that combines information management, environmental resource management, public administration and business.
What will I learn?
Your first two years are dedicated to core courses in Management Issues, Accounting, Marketing, Ethics and Social Responsibility, Government Structure, Data Literacy, Economics and Statistics.

In your third and fourth years, you'll choose electives to tailor your degree to your strengths and interests. Choose from one of five majors (Entrepreneurship and Innovation; Leadership and Organizations; Managing Data and Information (formerly Knowledge Management); Public Sector Management; or Environment, Sustainability and Society) to focus on your area of interest, or stay flexible by doing a general Bachelor of Management degree without a major.

The optional paid internship for Bachelor of Management students is a minimum of 32 weeks (approximately eight months) of consecutive, full-time work experience related to your studies. It takes place between your third and final academic year.

Pharmacists take medication histories, identify goals for drug therapy, provide education to patients regarding medications, make recommendations to other health-care providers about drug therapy, and much more. You'll gain the knowledge and skills to provide drug therapy toward improving patient health. The program’s curriculum offers problem-based learning (PBL) and other types of courses, which may include tutorials, lectures, labs, and practical experience in various settings.

What will I learn?
The pharmacy program delivers course content primarily through problem-based learning (PBL) modules. In the first year of the program, you’ll take courses in biomedical sciences, covering all essential subjects including anatomy, biochemistry, microbiology, pharmacology, and physiology. 

These courses are fully integrated in years two through four, covering not only the scientific side of pharmacy, but also the social. You'll look at such topics as therapeutics, pharmaceutical care, inter-professional relations, law and ethics, social and administrative pharmacy issues, and the role of pharmacy in the health-care system.

The Bachelor of Music offers centered music concentrates to get ready alumni for vocations or further examination in numerous territories, including execution, hypothesis, musicology, and that's only the tip of the iceberg. Through experiential getting the hang of, preparing in music shows balance, discipline, imagination, joint effort, sympathy, and the capacity to think and react quickly.
