Master of Engineering in Internetworking

Dalhousie University introduced the Master of Engineering (MEng) in Internetworking in 1997. Offered through the Faculties of Engineering and Graduate Studies, it's the world's longest-running graduate program dedicated to Internetworking. 

The MEng in Internetworking is a two-year course-based program that covers a range of topics related to the industry, including current technology and its past and future evolution. This intensive degree program provides students with practical experience and the solid, theoretical background necessary to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of technology and the challenges that lie ahead.

On the off chance that you are interested in acting, directing, playwriting or analyzing theatre or film then the Bachelor of Arts-Theatre program at Dalhousie University is the best option for you. The Department of Theatre has a wide range of courses to start your career in Acting, Stage Design and Technical Theatre and Theatre Studies. 

Students will be learning about film editing, art direction and also will have opportunities to apply their skills in labs for set construction, lighting, props, and sound.  After completing the program you may have a wide variety of career opportunities like director, playwright, actor, technician or designer in the professional theatre in Canada.  You may also work as a high school drama teacher, or as art administration in the theatre and film industries. 

While studying at our Agricultural Campus in Truro, you gain insights into problem solving, diagnostics and whole-system analysis. You learn business and science in the context of social and environmental responsibility, using sustainable production systems. You acquire a theoretical knowledge of plants. 

The students learn by doing: through labs, experiments, and growth trials, they develop a practical skill-set through hands-on experiences.

What will I learn?
Your first two years are dedicated to core courses in Management Issues, Accounting, Marketing, Ethics and Social Responsibility, Government Structure, Data Literacy, Economics and Statistics.

In your third and fourth years, you'll choose electives to tailor your degree to your strengths and interests. Choose from one of five majors (Entrepreneurship and Innovation; Leadership and Organizations; Managing Data and Information (formerly Knowledge Management); Public Sector Management; or Environment, Sustainability and Society) to focus on your area of interest, or stay flexible by doing a general Bachelor of Management degree without a major.

The optional paid internship for Bachelor of Management students is a minimum of 32 weeks (approximately eight months) of consecutive, full-time work experience related to your studies. It takes place between your third and final academic year.

You can supplement your degree with certificates in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Leading People and Organizations, Knowledge Management, Marketing Management, Public Sector Management, Intercultural Communication, Interdisciplinary Health Studies or Disability Management.

What will I learn?
Biochemistry and Molecular Biology are the molecular basis of life. You’ll get a deeper understanding of the biological function of large molecules such as proteins and DNA and interpret complex processes that define all living organisms.

You'll begin with foundation courses in biology and chemistry. Then, after an introduction to biochemistry theory and laboratory skills, you'll begin specialization in areas of biochemistry and molecular biology.  In fourth year, you'll have the opportunity to complete an honours project, gaining experience in hands-on laboratory research. Students will also have the opportunity to complete work terms through the co-op education program.

The Bachelor of Applied Computer Science (formerly Informatics) provides students with a deep understanding of how to develop, manage, and deploy technologies and build solutions for organizations. Students are equipped with the knowledge to put their deep understanding of technology with skills to succeed in project management, communications, and management skills to bridge the gap between business and the growing IT job market.

What will I learn?
Develop solutions to real-world problems using proven technologies. You’ll learn to combine a deep understanding of technology with problem-solving, communications, and management skills. You'll analyze problems, manage and lead teams to tackle those problems, and communicate solutions and opportunities back to the wider organization.

What will I learn?
Studying Integrated Environmental Management at Dalhousie means you’ll learn about real-world problems and how to solve them. First-year students begin by building a foundation in the core sciences of agriculture, biology, chemistry and calculus. In upper years, you’ll study technologies associated with biological and environmental systems as they apply to fiber fuel and food. Plus, you’ll apply your knowledge to solve industry-related problems.

Courses cover a wide variety of topics including agriculture, water and food processing systems, mechanics of materials, structures and their environment, renewable energy and engineering measurements and controls. Are you interested in physical activity, cardiac health and ergonomics? We’ve got you covered. Kinesiology is a multidisciplinary approach to the study of human movement and our program offers you a wide variety of classes taught by professors known for their research. Tailor your degree to your interests with the option to focus on a specific study stream — fitness and lifestyle, ergonomics, or coaching science — or pursue an all-around combination of classes.

What will I learn?
The courses you take will depend on your personal interests. You’ll gain a broad background in various subdisciplines of kinesiology, including anatomy, physiology, neurophysiology, biomechanics, movement control and psychology of performance. You’ll also be exposed to the foundational sciences such as biology, physics, psychology and mathematics.

In your upper years, you can choose whether you’d like to do a general degree in kinesiology or apply to one of the three focused streams: ergonomics, fitness and lifestyle or coaching science. If you’re accepted into one of the streams, you'll need to take certain courses to complete your degree.

Along with your course learning, you’ll also gain experience in research methodology and have the opportunity to complete an independent research project. The 25-hour practicum in your final year will allow you to enhance your studies and put learning into practice in a professional setting.
