Overview

The program introduces the student to principles of design, planning sustainable construction, contemporary building methods,  structural and environmental engineering related to architectural construction. Individual and team projects involved with residential, industrial, commercial and institutional buildings, assist in the development of knowledge and skills required for careers in the architectural field. This co-operative education program consists of six academic terms and four work terms over a 3.3 to 3.7 year period.

Learning Outcomes
The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:

  • Communicate with clients, contractors, other building professionals, and approval authorities.
  • Prepare, read, interpret, and revise drawings, and other graphical representations used in building projects.

  • Solve technical problems related to building projects through the application of principles of building science* and mathematics.
  • Collaborate with and coordinate information from structural, mechanical, and electrical building systems professionals.

This innovative four-year honours baccalaureate program offers students studies in early childhood development, early childhood pedagogy, human relationships, curriculum development and leadership skills, developing the necessary skills to engage as pedagogical leaders in a diverse range of roles in the evolving disciplines within early childhood education and care.  A key component of this degree is the applied learning that takes place in ideal sized classrooms, with a focus on case studies, research, three field placements, that culminates in one fourteen-week Internship between third and fourth year.  International internships are offered on a limited basis for qualifying students. In the final year, graduating students will participate in a major capstone course that provides students the opportunity to integrate their practical experiences and knowledge in a supervised research project. The Music Industry Arts program is a creative and practical environment that allows students to discover and develop the artistic, technical and business skills that will prepare them to compete in today's evolving music and entertainment industry.

The program approach is intensively hands-on, with professional recording, performance and lab facilities exclusively dedicated to student use.  Course content is wide and equally balanced between artist development and technical skills which accentuates experiential learning within the program. Special Events Planning is a two-year diploma program designed for individuals interested in a career in event management. Designed by industry professionals, students will be exposed to the vast types of special events, from social events, corporate meetings, festivals, conventions and large sporting events.
