Overview

The program provides the technical knowledge and skills required to manage the construction of industrial, commercial, and institutional buildings from the planning stage through to completion. Studies include construction materials and methods, construction equipment, surveying, project management, scheduling, estimating, building economics, and construction contracts. Twelve months of co-operative work experience is an integral part of the program.

Co-operative Education

  • Develop and use strategies to enhance professional growth and ongoing learning in the construction engineering field.

The Advanced Filmmaking program is an Ontario College Graduate Certificate program which builds upon the students previous diploma/degree skills by providing opportunities to work in cross-functional teams to create both narrative and documentary films, television productions, and other media. All phases of digital filmmaking will be experienced, including pre-production, production, and post-production. Students will collaborate with students in other College programs (television, acting, fashion, multimedia, music industry arts) in the creation of digital media products.

If you are interested in the behind the scenes action of television and film production, and are eager to get hands-on training in one of the largest and most state-of-the-art facilities in Canada, the Fanshawe Broadcasting - Television and Film Production program is for you.

You will work behind the camera producing a variety of films and shows that includes narratives, documentaries, live sports, news, commercials and promotions with your talented and passionate classmates. There are opportunities to produce, shoot or edit programs that will be aired throughout the region or shown at film festivals, reaching thousands of viewers. When you graduate, you will have experienced all areas of creative and technical roles including, studio production, cinematic production, field production, mobile sports production, computer graphics, post-production editing, scriptwriting and sales, marketing and entrepreneurship. Business - Marketing (Co-op) is a two-year Ontario College Diploma program with a co-operative education component. This program provides students with a strong foundation to gain entry to a variety of marketing career paths. Courses cover topics such as customer analysis, segmentation, and targeting; integrated marketing communications; pricing and distribution strategies; and product and service development and management. Hands-on activities include market research studies, advertising campaigns, sales and business plans - many of these activities involving live clients from industry. Students learn to use current software programs, including presentation, spreadsheet, graphic design and publishing applications. Graduates receive full credit toward a credential with the Canadian Institute of Marketing and earn credits towards the Certified Sales Professional designation offered by the Canadian Professional Sales Association. Graduates who meet admission requirements are eligible for transfer to the Business Administration - Marketing Advanced Diploma program.

Other Information

  • The Business - Marketing (Co-op) program shares a common first level with all business diploma programs in the Lawrence Kinlin School of Business which allows for program transfer, with no loss of credit, after Level 1.
  • Graduates of the two-year Business - Marketing (Co-op) Ontario College Diploma program may apply for program transfer to the Business Administration - Marketing Ontario College Advanced Diploma program or the Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Digital Marketing) Degree program. Application for Program Transfer" forms are available from the Office of the Registrar, Room E1012.  
  • All program levels are offered in the fall and winter terms to allow students to make continuous progression to meet personal or co-op education needs. Levels 1, 2 and 3 run in the summer term.
  • Students entering Level 1 of the program in January are expected to proceed into Level 2 of the program in the summer term. Students entering Level 1 of the program in February or May will proceed to Level 2 of the program in September.
  • Graduates may be eligible for admission to the following Graduate Certificate programs in the Lawrence Kinlin School of Business: Agri-Business Management, Human Resources Management, International Business Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Marketing Management, Operations Management, Professional Financial Services, or Project Management. Graduate Certificate programs deliver a specialized professional curriculum in two four-month levels.

International Business Management is a one-year Ontario College Graduate Certificate program, completed in two four-month levels (laptop required). Students will develop the skills to effectively investigate, analyze, manage and direct most aspects of international trade. Students work with real businesses, helping small and medium exporters capitalize on global opportunities, as preparation for various careers in the ever-expanding global economy. Professors have relevant and practical expertise in international trade, investment, marketing, finance and business management. Graduates will receive an Ontario College Graduate Certificate in International Business Management and, upon meeting Forum for International Trade Training (FITT) criteria on two major projects sent for external grading and transfer of credits to FITT, a Diploma in International Trade from FITT will be issued. Graduates who complete the required work experience in international business and meet other FITT criteria can subsequently apply to receive the Certified International Trade Professional designation (CITP).

This innovative four-year honours baccalaureate program offers students studies in early childhood development, early childhood pedagogy, human relationships, curriculum development and leadership skills, developing the necessary skills to engage as pedagogical leaders in a diverse range of roles in the evolving disciplines within early childhood education and care.  A key component of this degree is the applied learning that takes place in ideal sized classrooms, with a focus on case studies, research, three field placements, that culminates in one fourteen-week Internship between third and fourth year.  International internships are offered on a limited basis for qualifying students. In the final year, graduating students will participate in a major capstone course that provides students the opportunity to integrate their practical experiences and knowledge in a supervised research project. Diploma in Special Events Planning

Are you interested in an exciting career in Event Planning? Planning a big or small event requires extensive planning from choosing the venue, reviewing contracts, to the finer details of guest lists, decor, marketing and sponsorship.

Special Events Planning is a two-year diploma program designed for individuals interested in a career in event management. Designed by industry professionals, students will be exposed to the vast types of special events, from social events, corporate meetings, festivals, conventions and large sporting events. Students will develop essential event management skills such as planning, assessment, communication, critical thinking.

This program will explore current trends and technologies in the event industry, including; software applications, food and beverage, PR and sponsorship logistics, risk management,  business tools and more. Students will gain hands-on experience in planning, marketing and executing events.

Students will be provided opportunity to explore their area of interest including: corporate events, social events and sporting events. Students will also have the opportunity to explore and tour national and/or international event destinations.

Diploma in Photography

The Photography program provides training for students in the professional aspects of the photography industry. Digital SLR instruction will prepare the student for work in photojournalism, architectural, advertising, fashion, product, industrial, public relations, portrait, and wedding photography. Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of video and audio capture using DSLR cameras. Production work includes instruction in black and white and colour using digital printing systems. This program integrates the use of high-end laptops, digital imaging and video editing software in the curriculum.
