Overview

The Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Human Resources Management) program is a four-year, honours level degree with a mandatory co-op work term between Levels 7 and 8.  Students will study core fundamentals of business including business strategy, management, accounting, leadership and marketing in addition to the specialized human resources management courses, including performance management, human resources planning, talent acquisition, employee and labour relations and compensation and benefits administration. All nine CHRP course credits required for professional licensing bodies are included in this program.

  • Evaluate Human Resources plans to ensure alignment with organizational goals and responsiveness to current and future labour market conditions.
  • Manage training and organizational development and change initiatives including workforce design, development, and employee engagement initiatives, to support organizational effectiveness.
  • Establish and manage systems and processes to collect and safeguard Human Resources information.   
  • Analyze and evaluate required numerical and financial data for projecting the impact of human resources plans.  
  • Assess workplace health and safety practices to: ensure practices meet legislative requirements, analyze risk to the health and safety of employees, and determine appropriate preventative measures.
  • Assess how and why human resources programs, policies and procedures differ among countries, and the limitations that will be experienced by human resources managers who have transnational responsibilities.

The Music Industry Arts program is a creative and practical environment that allows students to discover and develop the artistic, technical and business skills that will prepare them to compete in today's evolving music and entertainment industry.

The program approach is intensively hands-on, with professional recording, performance and lab facilities exclusively dedicated to student use.  Course content is wide and equally balanced between artist development and technical skills which accentuates experiential learning within the program. Course curricula is wide by design and includes: artist development, music publishing, entertainment law, copyright, sales and promotion, music theory, ear training, music writing and arranging, creative audio production techniques, functions of digital and analog consoles, audio recording/mixing, studio operation, design and management, audio for picture, as well as live audio production.  Computer literacy, audio and editing techniques relevant to the disciplines of music creation and audio post-production are offered through theory and practical applications. The program introduces the student to principles of design, planning sustainable construction, contemporary building methods,  structural and environmental engineering related to architectural construction. Individual and team projects involved with residential, industrial, commercial and institutional buildings, assist in the development of knowledge and skills required for careers in the architectural field. This co-operative education program consists of six academic terms and four work terms over a 3.3 to 3.7 year period.

Business - Finance (Co-op) is a two-year Ontario College Diploma program. This program is designed to develop the skills needed to work in the growing personal financial services sector, from customer service to wealth management and financial planning. Students will learn to work with clients, evaluating their needs and offer advice on personal financial management, tax and retirement planning, insurance, investments, and estate planning, as well as customer relations and providing product to clients. Qualified graduates will have completed all the educational requirements leading to the CFP® (Certified Financial Planner®) designation awarded by the Financial Planning Standards Council www.fpsc.ca. and the Registered Retirement Consultant® RRC® designation awarded by CIFP.

Students are also prepared to write the Canadian Securities Course® and Life Licensing Qualification Program examinations as prerequisites to securities and life insurance licensing. Students will also have completed the Mutual Funds Licensing course.

Co-operative Education
In order to be eligible for co-op, students must maintain a 2.5 GPA and be academically complete at the commencement of their co-op work term.

The Game - Design program at Fanshawe College is an intensive three-year advanced diploma focusing on the tools and techniques necessary to gain employment in the video game industry. The goal of the program is to provide students with the professional and artistic skills necessary to create compelling and innovative games.

Students will develop 2D and 3D skills by studying a curriculum focused initially on the core principles of video game creation. Foundation courses including art & design theory, modelling, animation, texturing, anatomy and drawing will provide the basis for understanding the various components that make up a video game. An integral part of the Game - Design program at Fanshawe College is its relationship to the local community. London, Ontario has a vibrant and growing video game industry. Professionals from this community include game designers, animators, producers and art directors who will play an important role by providing mentorship to students through critique and guest lectures.
