The Fanshawe Customer Service Fundamentals – Insurance program will get you on the right path to employment success. Interior designers focus on the planning, design and detailing of interior space to improve the quality of people's physical environment. The four-year Honours Bachelor of Interior Design program covers both commercial and residential design, providing comprehensive treatment of all facets of interior design including research, problem analysis, concept development, design communication, drawings and specifications, technology, verbal and visual presentation methods, construction, and business practice. Fashion Marketing and Management is the business of fashion. We provide the knowledge with the hands on approach to prepare you for a dynamic career in retail. Our three areas of study focus on business, technology and visual presentation with emphasis on principles of marketing and management. Students will be responsible for the retail operations of our program campus store Live Chic and LiveChic.ca through buying, sales, inventory, merchandising, visual presentation, marketing and social media.

The Honours Bachelor of Environmental Design and Planning offers integrated learning based on the theory and practice of landscape architecture, planning and urban design. The use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for contextual analysis and evaluation and computer-aided design for visualization is emphasized and taught. The program has artistic and scientific appeal. Students gain a comprehensive understanding of environmental design and planning complemented by advanced technical design and communication skills. They use those skills and associated knowledge to creatively and effectively explore, analyze, conceptualize and present design and planning problems, opportunities, ideas and solutions. Sustainability is a principle for action - a comprehensive design and planning goal related to ecological, economic, socio-cultural and aesthetic dimensions of a place. It is advocated and upheld through applied project and community-based learning.

Academic projects, four work terms and a compulsory co-op placement give students the chance to apply their integrated learning and gain valuable practical experience. An academic exchange through a university in Curitiba, Brazil is available to senior students. Graduates are ready and able to work professionally in both the private and public sectors on contemporary design and planning projects requiring interdisciplinary solutions. Alternatively, an Honours Bachelor of Environmental Design and Planning Degree qualifies students for graduate studies in allied fields such as architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, planning, geographic information systems/science and geodesign.

This three-year co-operative program provides training in both the municipal and structural areas. The design of steel frame and reinforced concrete buildings is studied in the structural courses. Training is provided in materials testing and computer-aided drafting. Municipal topics include the design and construction of water distribution systems, storm, and sanitary sewerage networks, storm water management and highways. Theories for the treatment of water, sewage, and solid wastes are analyzed. Survey courses provide training in the use of high-tech survey equipment and techniques of plane surveying, as related to the Civil Engineering profession. The Aviation Technology - Aircraft Maintenance and Avionics Advanced Diploma is a Transport Canada approved program (TC-2018-02-4248) that provides students with the knowledge and skills required to start a career in aircraft maintenance and/or aircraft avionics maintenance. This program will cover all aspects of aircraft maintenance including systems used in general aviation, corporate, and charter transport category aircraft as well as helicopters. The program will also include avionics training for service, repair, and maintenance of aircraft electrical and electronic systems such as communication, navigation, and data systems.

Learning Outcomes
The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to

  • Service, test, troubleshoot and repair aircraft and systems on large or small, fixed or rotary wing aircraft in accordance with manufacturers' specified instructions, accepted aviation techniques/practices and the requirements of the Canadian aviation regulations.
  • Evaluate fixed wing and rotary aircraft structures and complete maintenance, assembly, fabrication, and structural repair work on large and small aircrafts in accordance with technical manuals, standard practices, and standards of performance and safety.
