The Fanshawe Customer Service Fundamentals – Insurance program will get you on the right path to employment success. Beginning with an overview of business and insurance customer service (theory and practice) with a focus on distribution systems, you'll learn everything you need to work in a customer service role in an insurance brokerage, agency or direct insurance writer's office. This program is a great first step to more qualifications and you'll walk away with diverse skills needed for the modern and dynamic business world. Available in a traditional in-class format with September admission.

There are options to transfer directly into the second year of Fanshawe's Business Insurance program and earn your diploma in just two additional semesters.

When you graduate, you'll be eligible to write your Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO) or OTL licensing exams, you may also be eligible to obtain your General Insurance Essentials certificates from the Insurance Institute of Canada.

The Customer Relationship Marketing and Sales Management program responds to the growing need within business for a skill set that places the customer at the centre of business decisions. This skill is critical since marketing and sales success depends on attracting new customers while retaining and strengthening relationships with current customers.  

This one-year post-graduate certificate program provides students with a foundation in marketing and sales, with a focus on the examination and application of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Customer Experience (CX) best practices, strategies, tactics, tools, and techniques. Students will have an opportunity to apply industry standard business and marketing analytics and use CRM platforms to enhance the marketing and sales process.  Student will also learn strategies and tactics for account development in the field of sales and sales management.

This two-year diploma in accounting is designed to prepare graduates to work in an accounting environment at the entry or intermediate accounting level. This accounting diploma program starts with accounting fundamentals and then moves to detailed accounting principles and concepts, including computerized accounting. When you graduate, you’ll have the skills required for success in a corporate accounting department in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, merchandising, small business accounting, banks and other financial institutions. You’ll also work in public accounting firms and federal, provincial and municipal government offices. This program is an ideal starting point for those seeking a career in accounting.

Business Fundamentals is a one-year Ontario College Certificate program. This program is designed to build fundamental business skills. This program is ideal for students who want to strengthen their foundational skills (math, writing, communication) before entering a two-year business diploma program; mature students who are preparing to re-enter the workforce; and international students. In the first level, students will take courses in customer service and business communication while improving their computer and math skills. Because the second level of Business Fundamentals is predominantly the common first level shared by all two-year diploma programs in the Lawrence Kinlin School of Business, graduates may choose to transfer directly into the second level of any business diploma program; alternatively, they may enter the workforce in various entry-level positions.

The Developmental Services Worker (Fast Track) Diploma program prepares its graduates to support people with developmental disabilities so that these individuals may participate fully in their communities. DSW have the specialized knowledge and skills required to work with people with developmental disabilities across the life span.

Inherent to the role of a DSW is an ability to collaborate and build relationships with people with developmental disabilities and their families and to work with colleagues and members of inter-professional teams to facilitate a seamless network of support for people.
Courses focus on disabilities, person-directed support, inclusion and community resources, dual diagnosis, interpersonal skills, counseling, health, pharmacology, development, teaching, and intervention strategies. Field placements in community agencies and/or schools are part of the curriculum.

The Recreation and Leisure Services program is committed to developing the leadership skills of each of its students to support the achievement of recreation and leisure outcomes for individuals, groups and communities. Through concentrated academic and field work over the two years, students acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies to promote community development and involvement and to plan and implement special events and programs in a variety of recreation fields. This is practised in settings which emphasize planning, implementation and evaluation that can respond to the multi-dimensional needs of all members of the community. The students will be able to develop benefits based programming that addresses recreation as an essential service; one that can effectively respond to a variety of individual or community needs.

Fanshawe College’s Public Relations - Corporate Communications program is designed to prepare college and university graduates to enter the exciting and challenging world of communications. Students will hone their writing and presentation skills, learn the latest digital communication and web design techniques, and analyze public relations and ethics challenges.

A second-term field placement allows students to put these new skills to work. Students will make business contacts through professional associations and complete course work with a community focus. The curriculum is current, community-minded, and developed by professional communicators. 

Developing superior writing skills, combined with an emphasis on teamwork, graphic design skills, and technological savvy gives graduates of this program a competitive edge. This program is best suited to individuals with already above-average writing skills, an outgoing personality and an ability to see solutions when others are focusing on problems. Landscape Design is a three-year co-operative program of study providing training in the design of many types of landscape areas, with emphasis on residential landscape design as well as experience with commercial and institutional sites. A variety of skills in areas such as drafting, computer-aided design, three dimensional modeling, design illustration and visualization are combined with the knowledge of design theory, plant and hard materials, landscape construction and new technologies to provide students with the skills necessary to source employment in the expanding field of landscape design.

Qualifying graduates of the Landscape Design program, have the option to receive advanced standing into a related Honours Bachelor's Degree in the Environmental Design and Planning program at Fanshawe College as well as the Landscape Architecture program at the University of Guelph where they may continue their studies.

Co-operative Education:-
This is a three-year program with co-op work terms.  Students who fulfill both the academic and co-op requirements of the program will be eligible to graduate with a Co-op Endorsed Diploma.  More information about Co-operative Education can be found at www.fanshawec.ca/co-op.

Construction Engineering Technology is a two-year diploma for students interested in overseeing the construction of residential, industrial and commercial projects. Students will learn to estimate project costs, develop a construction plan, schedule projects, and perform on-site inspections using the latest technology. Graduates will be prepared for their career by learning soft skills required to be an effective leader.
