Diploma in Developmental Services Worker (Fast Track)

This three-year program provides students with a strong basic knowledge of Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology with focus on the concepts of air, water and waste water management. In particular, the program emphasizes in-depth training in the principles and procedures of measurement and analysis techniques, and legislation for air, water and waste.

Learning Outcomes
The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to

• Collect representative environmental samples, perform routine and specialized tests and interpret results, using current and relevant tools.
• Identify, select and use scientific concepts and models in the prevention, control and elimination of environmental hazards and in the remediation of contaminated sites.
• Analyze water/soil/air samples in a manner that contributes to the resolution of environmental problems through the selection and application of relevant scientific and engineering principles.

Co-operative Education

This graduate certificate program teaches students to leverage sports and events as an all-encompassing marketing communication medium. While the courses focus on sport as the learning catalyst, the skills learned also apply to other sectors such as arts, entertainment and non-profit, broadening the employment landscape for business and marketing students. Students will benefit from courses that include advanced and management level skills in the Sport and Event Marketing and Management world. Digital platforms ensure students use the latest in forms and tools.

This three-year Commercial Flight and Aviation Leadership Advanced Diploma is designed to prepare domestic and international students for a career in aviation. 

The program includes training in the following areas:

• Safety management systems
• Canadian Aviation Regulations
• Flight operations
• Professional standards and practices

In this program students will complete a Canadian Private and Commercial Pilot license including night, multi-engine and instrument ratings.  Graduates will be able to seek opportunities in Aviation flight operations and business ventures as well as professional flight positions. 

Flight training will be delivered by Diamond Flight Centre London Inc., located at the London International Airport. Business Fundamentals - Entrepreneurship is a one-year Ontario College Certificate program.  This customized program is designed specifically for the novice entrepreneur and will provide graduates with the knowledge required to plan, start and manage their own small business.  Through the program curriculum, students explore alternatives for starting a business, such as franchising and taking over the family firm, as well as financing options.  The Business Fundamentals -Entrepreneurship program gives students insight into the challenges and rewards of entrepreneurship and assist students in acquiring the skills for long-term management of the business and their development as entrepreneurs.  Under the supervision of a faculty advisor, students prepare a comprehensive business plan intended to help students launch their own business upon graduation.

This program is structured for individuals with previous BIM experience who are looking to expand their knowledge in a rapidly growing sector of the AEC industry. Courses will explore current industry topics such as, BIM Implementation and Procurement, BIM Management and Workflows; BIM Integration (Clash Detection; Reality Capture) and Collaboration using BIM tools among many other relevant items. These courses will provide the student with greater insight in the world of BIM and Integrated Practice methods for the construction sector.

Learning Outcomes 

• Develop an implementation plan for Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) in the Architecture, Engineering, and/or Construction industries.
• Formulate strategies for leadership and personnel management, and apply team building skills in an interdisciplinary setting to develop collaborative design and construction solutions.
• Analyze BIM processes and execute appropriate BIM management techniques to facilitate Integrated Project Delivery from project conceptualization to facilities management.
• Conduct project risk analysis using BIM and IPD processes to optimize project outcomes for all stakeholders.
• Deploy BIM computer platforms to create virtual building information models and generate presentation elements.
• Integrate various suites of BIM applications into project design, construction, and facilities management to improve the transfer of information between different disciplines and during all phases of a building's life cycle.

This program is a four-year, eight level honours program with four months of mandatory co-op experience. This program will ready graduates for jobs in growth areas of Applied Biotechnology such as pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, agriculture, bioremediation, the fermentation industry, research and development to name a few. Students will study molecular biology, physical, organic and instrumental chemistry, applied biotechnology, microbiology, virology, toxicology; and related societal, economic, ethical, legal, and environmental issues. Graduates will be skilled in the handling of microbial, plant, and animal genetic material and macromolecule analysis, small animal handling, experimental design, statistical data analysis, and bioinformatics. Throughout the program, students will apply this knowledge to regulatory affairs, quality assurance, bioethics, and biohazard management while developing interpersonal and communication expertise, and the skills necessary for life long learning.

Business Fundamentals is a one-year Ontario College Certificate program. This program is designed to build fundamental business skills. This program is ideal for students who want to strengthen their foundational skills (math, writing, communication) before entering a two-year business diploma program; mature students who are preparing to re-enter the workforce; and international students. In the first level, students will take courses in customer service and business communication while improving their computer and math skills. Because the second level of Business Fundamentals is predominantly the common first level shared by all two-year diploma programs in the Lawrence Kinlin School of Business, graduates may choose to transfer directly into the second level of any business diploma program; alternatively, they may enter the workforce in various entry-level positions.

This two-year diploma in accounting is designed to prepare graduates to work in an accounting environment at the entry or intermediate accounting level. This accounting diploma program starts with accounting fundamentals and then moves to detailed accounting principles and concepts, including computerized accounting. When you graduate, you’ll have the skills required for success in a corporate accounting department in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, merchandising, small business accounting, banks and other financial institutions. You’ll also work in public accounting firms and federal, provincial and municipal government offices. This program is an ideal starting point for those seeking a career in accounting.

This one-year Graduate Certificate program is designed to provide students with a holistic approach to information systems security as it applies to business.  The program will provide a broad understanding of security concepts and concentrate on industry best practices for information security.  Students will gain the knowledge required to manage both the strategic and operational aspects of information security.  The focus will be on addressing the following questions:

• What business assets need protection?
• What are the vulnerabilities and threats to the business and the assets?
• What safeguards need to be implemented to protect the business?
• Did the protection measures or safeguards work?

The students will develop the skills to identify vulnerabilities to business and implement effective safeguards to minimize risks to acceptable levels.  They will learn detailed practical aspects of security such as risk analysis, vulnerability testing, writing security policies, implementing access controls and performing security audits.  An emphasis will be placed on interpersonal, organizational, technical, communication and problem solving skills applied to enhance the effective implementation of security in a business environment.

A Mandatory Mobile Computing (Laptop) Program

Auto Body Repair Techniques is a one-year Ontario College Certificate program that prepares graduates to enter the auto body repair field. The curriculum focuses on the practical skills used by entry-level auto body repairers: welding, refinishing, and body and frame repair. Students also learn how to assess vehicle damage and develop repair estimates.

• Under appropriate supervision, repair and refinish damage to automotive bodies and frames, and inspect and repair vehicle safety devices.
• Under appropriate supervision, use diagnostic equipment and basic repair techniques to service automotive power train, tires and rims, fuel and electrical systems, and heating, air conditioning and cooling systems.
• Repair rust on vehicles and apply corrosion protection where appropriate.
• Access information to remain current with advanced trade techniques in auto body repair.
