Overview

The Motive Power Technician (Diesel) Diploma program is a two-year Ontario College Diploma program.  The program is designed to develop graduates with essential advanced technical, organizational, interpersonal, administrative and managerial skills required for the heavy duty service industry as well as providing progressive and comprehensive learning experiences on internal combustion compression ignition engines, power trains and related modern heavy duty systems. Students will learn to communicate effectively, diagnose and solve problems logically and to undertake responsible work tasks with a minimum of supervision.

Graduates may also be in a favourable status if they wish to apply for our alternative Motive Power Technician (Automotive) Diploma program. Credit for those courses that bridge our diploma programs will be granted; therefore, significantly reducing the requirements for this second Ontario College Diploma.

Fanshawe College's Law Clerk (Co-op) program is designed to provide students with a solid grounding in legal principles combined with the practical law clerk training that students will need to enter the diverse, fast-paced modern field of law. As a graduate of the Law Clerk program you will work as part of a team in law firms, corporate legal departments, financial institutions, insurance companies, legal technology providers, title insurance companies, Federal, Provincial and Municipal Governments or in any other capacity where a legal environment exists. Depending upon your choice of career path, you could find yourself preparing motion records and trial documentation, interviewing witnesses, arranging trial dates and adjournments, drafting corporate/commercial documentation, completing Family Law Act financial statements, administering estates, negotiating leases, administering contracts, completing legal research, searching titles or processing real estate transactions. The program is designed to leverage a university or college credential in any discipline by providing a fast track to a career as a Professional Financial Planner. The Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Human Resources Management) program is a four-year, honours level degree with a mandatory co-op work term between Levels 7 and 8.  Students will study core fundamentals of business including business strategy, management, accounting, leadership and marketing in addition to the specialized human resources management courses, including performance management, human resources planning, talent acquisition, employee and labour relations and compensation and benefits administration. All nine CHRP course credits required for professional licensing bodies are included in this program.

A critical role in the facilitation of software/system development for the purpose of collecting data will be played by the Technical Systems Analyst. This IT professional will interface with organizational areas to gather their business (data) requirements and translate them into functional systems design specifications that can be successfully implemented by IT teams.   • Apply health and safety standards and best practices to workplaces.
  • Perform tasks in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, procedures, standards, regulations, and ethical principles.
