Automotive Sales is a one-year Ontario Graduate Certificate program. You’ll begin the program by creating a strong foundation in the fundamentals of technical sales and marketing, quickly moving into specialized training in new media marketing, CRM enabled selling, emerging transportation technologies, marketing management and more. The Fire Inspection and Fire Safety Education program is an Ontario College Advanced Diploma that prepares graduates to enter the fire service in the field of fire prevention.

The program provides a foundation in fire science and fire mathematics. It also provides comprehensive coverage of relevant codes and legislation (e.g., Ontario Fire Code and the Fire Protection and Prevention Act, the Ontario Building Code and the Building Code Act).

The core vocational curriculum is aligned with several professional credentials offered by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA): Fire Inspector I and II, Fire and Life Safety Educator I and II, and Public Information Officer. Students will also graduate with the communication skills and interpersonal skills they need to function as leaders in the fire service and in the community.

Interior Decorating is a two-year Ontario College Diploma program designed to develop the skills and knowledge necessary for a career in one of the many segments of the residential interior decorating field. Students will study the fundamentals of interior decorating, including space planning, colour theory, material selection, kitchen and bath design and visual merchandising. Students will build interpersonal, communication, sales, business and marketing skills. Drawing, presentation and drafting techniques (both manual and computer-aided) will be developed. The Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Management) Degree program is designed to provide students with a well-rounded education in business management. The curriculum emphasizes that organizational success is achieved through effective leadership and is driven by people in all areas and departments within an organization. This four-year honours level degree includes a mandatory paid co-op work term between Levels 7 and 8 and is aligned with the Canadian Institute of Management professional program. Cross-functional courses combined with applications in sustainable business practices and effective ethical leadership from the local, national and global perspective will prepare graduates for a wide range of employment opportunities.

Learning Outcomes
The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:

  • Use the interdependence of various functional areas of business (i.e. financial, marketing, operations, human resources) to achieve organizational success in domestic and international environments.
  • Develop strategies that will achieve organizational goals through integration of business methodologies that assess costs, benefits, risks, and opportunities, and that utilize current and emerging technology and trends.
  • Enhance business opportunities by incorporating external variables into various business decision models.
  • Assess the unique business needs of organizations of various sizes, public sector, private sector, and not-for-profit firms.
  • Evaluate professional, ethical, and legal codes of conduct.
  • Research, analyze, and critically evaluate qualitative and quantitative data from a variety of sources to support business decisions through effective problem solving, critical thinking, logic and reasoning.
  • Communicate information, arguments, and analysis accurately and reliably for the message, audience, and purpose.
  • Perform effectively and efficiently within groups or teams, demonstrating leadership, team-building, and influencing skills.
  • Design personal learning plans and integrate learning strategies into current and future development goals.
  • Assess resource allocation decisions that influence sustainability practices and drive economic, social, cultural, and environmental stewardship.
  • Analyze domestic and international business opportunities within an international context.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate projects and programs, using project planning principles and tools.
  • Assess the overall financial performance of an organization.
  • Apply management-level decision-making and strategic planning skills.
  • Develop a business plan based on sound research that integrates business principles and best practices.
  • Evaluate the impact of the economic, social, political, and cultural variables which affect a business.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills to motivate others to achieve personal and organizational goals.
  • Design strategies to creatively organize, lead, and manage the risks of an organization.
  • Implement best practice principles for the planning, directing, and controlling of an organization.
  • Contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of sales strategies to improve revenue generation.
  • Construct creative and innovative ideas to address business challenges and opportunities.
  • Assess the impact on individuals, groups and organizations when an individual exceeds the limits of their knowledge and takes inappropriate risks.

Co-operative Education
