Companies are increasingly challenged with how to collect and make sense of vast amounts of data in order to improve their competitive position. A critical role in the facilitation of software/system development for the purpose of collecting data will be played by the Technical Systems Analyst. This IT professional will interface with organizational areas to gather their business (data) requirements and translate them into functional systems design specifications that can be successfully implemented by IT teams. Business - Insurance (Co-op) is a two-year Ontario College Diploma program with a co-operative education component. This program is designed to prepare students for positions in the property and casualty insurance industry. Students will study forms of general insurance, underwriting, claims investigation, risk analysis and contracts. Students have the opportunity to complete nine of ten credits toward their Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation issued by the Insurance Institute of Canada.  Graduates work in high-demand areas of insurance such as underwriting, claims adjusting, brokerage or agency services and risk management.

Co-operative Education
In order to be eligible for co-op, students must maintain a 2.5 GPA and be academically complete at the commencement of their co-op work term.

Diploma in Office Administration - Health Services

This two-year professional program is designed to provide students with extensive practical understanding and knowledge to perform administrative support in a wide variety of medical environments.  The focus will be on medical terminology and transcription, medical billing, patient management, medical office procedures, medical ethics and research.  The emphasis will be on interpersonal, communication, organizational, technical, and problem-solving skills applied to enhance the effective operation of the medical environment.

Expert training in computerized medical records systems, billing systems and other office equipment technology applications will be combined with analytical and multitasking strategies to facilitate scheduling, decision making, co-ordination and task completion.  Utilizing these skills, students will be capable of overseeing a variety of medical office environments.  Researching, developing, and presenting accurate medical documentation, correspondence and reports will be emphasized.

A four-week medical office environment workplace component will provide the student with practical, hands-on experience and the opportunity to apply the theories and concepts learned in the Office Administration - Health Services program classroom.  The importance of professional ethics, privacy and confidentiality will be highlighted throughout the program.

Diploma in Photography

The Photography program provides training for students in the professional aspects of the photography industry. Digital SLR instruction will prepare the student for work in photojournalism, architectural, advertising, fashion, product, industrial, public relations, portrait, and wedding photography. Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of video and audio capture using DSLR cameras. Production work includes instruction in black and white and colour using digital printing systems. This program integrates the use of high-end laptops, digital imaging and video editing software in the curriculum.

The program consists of four academic levels and eight months of co-op working in industry. The program prepares graduates for employment in areas such as numerically controlled machines programming, tool design, production planning, statistical process control, value engineering, advanced machining and maintenance engineering throughout the manufacturing industry. Modern numerically controlled CNC and CAD/CAM equipment is utilized in this program.

Other Information
Graduates of the two-year Manufacturing Engineering Technician (Co-op) Ontario College Diploma program may apply to Level 5 of the Manufacturing Engineering Technology (Co-op) program to complete the requirements for an Ontario College Advanced Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering Technology. Students wishing to continue into the Manufacturing Engineering Technology (Co-op) program must complete an "Application for Program Transfer" form available from the Office of the Registrar, Room E1012.
This program will be delivered over two years, which includes four academic levels and two 4-month co-op terms.
A CONNECT lab fee of $50.00 per academic term is included in the Additional Program Fees stated in the Fee Schedule. This fee helps cover costs associated with the delivery of the CONNECT mobile computing program.
