Overview
The Mechanical Engineering Technician program teaches students to work on computer systems within the manufacturing industry. Students will learn machine theory, blueprint reading and applied mathematics. Graduates will feel confident entering the workforce with knowledge in Computer Aided Design (CAD), Computer Aided Machining (CAM) and Computerize Numerical Control (CNC) programs.

Graduates of the Electronics Engineering Technician - Industrial Controls program will play a key role in the world of technology with the in-depth knowledge gained in this exciting, fast-paced program. Automation is used in virtually every industry with the demand for trained graduates always increasing. Graduates will study a wide range of automation topics and have a thorough understanding of electricity and electronics as applied to automation and system controls. Electronic control systems can be found in automated factories, building environmental systems and processors of bulk materials such as dairies, refineries etc. Students will study motor controls, industrial sensors, automation theory and digital based control systems. Diploma in Renewable Energies Technician (Co-op)
The production of energy using renewable natural resources such as wind, sunlight, biomass, geothermal heat, etc., has gained global acceptance in recent years. The Renewable Energies Technician program represents a response to the increasing need for quality training in the Renewable Energies sector.
The Renewable Energies Technician program will be focused on the primary practical applications of Renewable Energy. The program will appeal to individuals seeking formal training to enable them to enter the Renewable Energies field as employees or entrepreneurs.
The program shall firstly deliver the foundational knowledge in the relevant electrical, electronic and mechanical disciplines that will be required to function practically in the Renewable Energies sector.
Whereas a number of Renewable Energy solutions and applications are emerging in our current environment, the program will address more than one renewable energy technology by design. The program will give the student a solid foundation in the science as well as the design and installation techniques required to work with various Renewable Energy solutions. Included components will be Solar Energy, Wind Turbines, Biomass Energy and Geothermal Energy Systems. The best industry practices of health, safety and environmental conservation will play an integral role in all of the courses delivered within the program including complete safety training for working at heights and confined spaces.
The program will also introduce the general concepts associated with global climate change and the practicalities associated with sustainable energy including conservation techniques.
By completion of the program, students will have gained experience and knowledge enabling them to perform site assessments for Wind and Photovoltaic Energy projects with the ability to integrate same with current existing energy sources. Co-operative Education

Certificate of Power Engineering Techniques - 4th Class
The curriculum for this program is aligned with the Standardized Power Engineers Examination Committed (SOPECC) syllabus and has been approved by the certifying body for Power Engineers in Ontario, the Technical Safety and Standards Authority (TSSA). Graduates will be well positioned to write the Class 4 TSSA exams.
It provides a thorough introduction to all aspects of the work of Power Engineers at the 4th class level, offering both theory and practical learning opportunities. Students will be exposed to a variety of power generating equipment in use in both private and public sector settings. Lab work will be undertaken at the Power Plant at Western University with the remainder of the program delivered at the St. Thomas campus. The Plan Global Learning system is used.
