For consideration in this category, graduates must have achieved an average of 70% or higher over the duration of the Pre-Health Sciences Pathway program. If there are more applications from graduates with 70% or higher than reserved seats available, a selection process based on an average of overall marks will take place.

Throughout the Pre-Health Sciences program, you will learn in a supportive environment and gain hands-on experience in our chemistry and biology labs. Our health curriculum is integrated, and you will also take college-level courses to help you become a competent communicator and problem solver, with the critical analytical, creative and logical thinking skills needed in the workplace. In addition, you can earn from two to four credits towards your subsequent college diploma, depending upon your program choice.

Develop the competencies needed for application to the Trent-Fleming Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, for application to science degrees, or to advanced diploma programs at Fleming College.

Program Highlights
This program is designed to provide you with the core knowledge, skills and abilities fundamental to academic success in health sciences and other related programs at the advanced diploma or degree level. Develop your knowledge and skills in writing and research, mathematics, human anatomy, biology, and organic/inorganic chemistry to be well-prepared for the rigors of your next academic program. The program will provide you with extensive hands-on, laboratory-based learning experience in preparation for post-secondary level science programs. You will also have the opportunity to learn about potential careers in the health sciences and to identify other programs focusing on the biological or chemical sciences that will enable you to achieve your career objectives. This is a two-semester certificate-level program leading to an Ontario College Certificate.

The Trades Fundamentals pathway program provides a sampler of basic level construction and trades skills, while you earn course credit towards future trades studies.

Much of this training is experiential, taking place in various educational settings in the community.
During third semester, you will spend three days a week in class at the College and two days a week in a classroom in an area school. The final part of the program is an intensive, semester-long, practical learning experience in an educational setting or agency. During this extensive placement experience, you'll work with students with a range of exceptionalities including autism, physical disabilities, cognitive disabilities, visual impairments, and learning disabilities. This placement can take place in the location of your choice, whether that’s in your home town, in the Kawartha region or a larger city in Ontario.

If you have already completed an Ontario College Diploma or a university degree, you may be eligible for the accelerated Educational Support - Advanced Standing program. You can graduate in just ten months.

As a Cultural Heritage Conservation and Management specialist, you will learn a wide range of techniques to save the fragile reminders and markers of the past - preserved for future generations to learn from and enjoy.

Program Highlights
The fundamental role of the conservation professional is to preserve and conserve, as appropriate, cultural property for present and future generations. We have a lot to learn from the experiences and events of people who have gone before us. However, we can't learn much from the past if we don't have records of it. Imagine how much history is lost to us when an ancient artifact is destroyed by perfectly well-meaning people who want to save it.

This two-year Ontario College graduate certificate is an intensive, fast-paced learning experience that you will undertake in four consecutive semesters. You'll start your classes in September and spend your first three semesters, during the fall, winter and summer, at the college. Following your introduction to the field of conservation, you will gain valuable, applied and skills-based experience in the care and handling of most common museum materials, including ceramics, glass, stone, metals, wooden objects, leather and proteinaceous materials, textiles, works of art on paper, books, archival materials, photographs and modern materials. Updated curriculum reflects a focus on hands-on skills, experienced based learning, practical applications, beyond best practices and professional standards rooted in ethical applications. Once you've learned the theory and practical skills, you'll treat museum artifacts from local, regional, and national sites. Complementary courses, workshops, assignments, and community-based projects will offer off campus opportunities to practice conservation methods. There are many opportunities to get practical experience both at the college and off-campus. In your fourth semester, you will take on a challenging, full-time, unpaid curriculum-based internship at an approved site. Students should be prepared to relocate for the internship, to pay full tuition fees, and be self-supporting during this semester. You will negotiate your own internship with faculty assistance and some students have participated in internships abroad. The internship is an unpaid study experience.Students are responsible for negotiating additional paperwork and funding requirements for international internships including visas, travel and insurance. Occupational Therapist Assistants and Physiotherapist Assistants work with registered occupational therapists and physiotherapists to enable clients to cope with their limitations in movement, daily function, activity and/or occupational performance, whether temporary or permanent.

With ever-increasing numbers of aging people requiring assistance to continue a full life, the need has never been greater for occupational therapists(OTs), physiotherapists (PTs) and their assistants. While a great deal of work these days is with seniors, there's also much to be done with those recovering from surgery, health conditions such as cancer or stroke, and chronic conditions such as arthritis. You can help people get back into their lives - as an Occupational Therapist Assistant and Physiotherapist Assistant.

As an OTA and PTA, you'll help awaken people's physical potential - and learn more about yourself in the process. Throughout the deliberately broad-based four-semester program, you'll learn how to assist clients to achieve their health goals.

Work Experience
Field experience is an integral aspect of the OTA & PTA program and is highly valued by students as they welcome the opportunity to integrate in-class studies with hands-on experience. Students are assigned to a variety of clinical settings throughout second, third and fourth semester. Students, with the assistance of a faculty member, arrange their final eight week culminating clinical experience. Fleming staff is committed to meeting national accreditation standards by ensuring that students accumulate a minimum of 500 clinical hours, with no less than 30% (150) of these hours being in each discipline.

Law Clerks assist lawyers in such tasks as interviewing clients, conducting legal research, preparing documents, searching real estate and corporate registries, and in preparing cases for trial.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
Your two-year Law Clerk program will provide you with extensive education and training necessary to assist lawyers, and paralegals in both the private and public sector. You will be taught by experts in the legal field. In your first three semesters you are integrated with students in the college’s Paralegal Program. Your education will include such courses as Business and Contract Law, Introduction to Litigation, Legal Research and Writing, Criminal Law, Evidence, Advocacy, Small Claims Law, Practice Management, and Legal Accounting. In your final semester your skills will be further enhanced in the areas of Property Law, Family Law, Wills and Estates, Corporate Law, and Litigation Law.

Fleming's two-year Culinary Management program is designed to provide graduates with strong, entry level culinary management techniques, life skills and interpersonal skills which will contribute to your potential for career advancement in a team-based hospitality environment.

You will also be exposed to new directions and trends in the culinary sector such as the field to fork approach to food; the impact of the local food movement. After completing on-the-job training requirements (in addition to your college diploma), graduates are eligible to write the provincial Trade of Cook Certificate of Qualifications examination.

WORK EXPERIENCE
During your studies, you will be required to complete a minimum 160-hour in-school practicum. Your entire final semester involves a 270-hour Applied Project, where you will be involved in the daily operations and management of Fulford's, our in-school restaurant and a 90-hour industry-based placement. These extensive and varied workplace experiences will provide you with the opportunity to practice the theories and skills you have been studying in the program.

Delivered at our campus in Peterborough, this is one of the few two-year Graphic Design advanced diploma programs offered in Ontario. In this intensive, compressed program, three years of study is completed over a two- year period. Graduates are ready to start their graphic design careers in just 24 months.

Students in Fleming’s accelerated graphic design program learn and work in a unique, contemporary design studio space; in this “classroom as design lab and studio,” they discover what it takes to become a professional designer, and how to thrive in this fast-paced industry.

Students gain the skills and understanding required to communicate ideas in digital and printed media through extensive and varied applied learning experiences. At the end of six continuous semesters, they are fully-prepared to hit the ground running, ready to launch their design careers in any industry that requires creative problem solving through visual communication.

In this program you will:
