The Cyber Security graduate certificate program at George Brown College is designed to meet the high demand for cyber security professionals and related IT security professionals across multiple sectors – including consulting services, finance and health care.

As a student in this program, you will begin with learning the theory and practical skills required to become a cyber security professional, including the differences and similarities between cyber security and hacking. You will learn about the primary attack surfaces (physical, social, electronic), methods for compromising the attack surfaces, and how to mitigate potential attacks.

In the third semester, you will learn advanced techniques in ethical hacking incident response. A capstone group project will provide you with an opportunity to showcase your skills and talents for potential employers. These skills include:

Students graduating from this program are prepared to help defend organizations from the many cyber threats, including malware, network attacks and data compromise. This demanding one-year Dance Performance Preparation program will help translate your passion for dancing into the skills necessary to pursue a career in professional dance. As a graduate, you will have a strong and confident foundation from which to further your professional dance education. Technical training is in classical ballet and is supplemented by modern and jazz dance. Studies in vocal and acting will enhance your performance versatility and employability. This program is based on a focused approach to training, rehearsal and performance.

STUDENT SELECTION
Entrance requirement is dance training at the elementary classical ballet level with experience in other dance forms. Prospective students must pass an audition in ballet and jazz as well as an interview.

The Fashion Techniques and Design program prepares graduates for careers in garment manufacturing design rooms. This is a women's wear program that simulates, as closely as possible, the industry's standards, practices and facilities. You will use industrial machines and learn the essentials of technical illustration, pattern making, pattern grading and clothing construction. Additional core subjects include textiles, technical specifications and history of costume. Program electives allow you to select specific related subject areas, such as fashion show development, portfolio development, draping, lingerie, men's pattern drafting, leather apparel, knitwear and bridal and evening wear. Computer skills in Adobe Illustrator, pattern drafting and pattern grading are included as core and elective courses and are continually upgraded to meet industry needs. This program covers introductory methods to more advanced concepts in the second year.

An annual fashion show and portfolio event highlights successful student projects. Students have the opportunity to network with industry, participate in numerous competitions, work on applied research projects, volunteer and attend industry events.

Note: This program requires extensive sewing; manual dexterity and good vision are assets. Both sewing experience and access to a sewing machine outside of the campus facilities are expected.

The Information Systems Business Analysis graduate certificate program at George Brown College is designed to meet the urgent need for professionals who can be the key liaison between business and information technology functions within an organization. This intensive program is designed for IT or business professionals who aspire to enter into a business analyst role, or practitioners who wish to enhance their experience with formal education. The Fashion Business Industry two-year diploma program at George Brown College's School of Fashion and Jewellery in Toronto gives students an introduction to all aspects of the fashion industry, from product knowledge to marketing and small business management.

The small to medium-sized business enterprise is a flourishing sector of the fashion industry and represents a great opportunity for entry into the fashion world. Smaller companies require employees who possess a variety of management skills to manage a business from the start-up stage to more developed business models. Students will be prepared for the roles and develop skills essential for the operation of a successful small fashion business. The entrepreneurial aspect of this program guides students through the process of developing a comprehensive business plan, which is essential to start a new business or manage an existing business.

Students will gain an understanding of textiles, garment construction, quality criteria and apparel merchandising. They will also learn to apply marketing, accounting, financial and other business concepts necessary for the decision-making they will encounter in their future careers.

  • Develop, communicate and implement a marketing plan by combining marketing research, strategies and tactics.

  • Identify textile materials, asses their suitability and compatibility, and select accordingly for end use.

The Denturism program prepares students to provide care as independent oral health care professionals.

This program is approved by the College of Denturists of Ontario (CDO). In addition the program is currently accredited by the Commission of Accreditation for Denturism (CAD).

Utilizing the Denturism model of care, students will learn to:

• assess a patient's health history and oral health conditions
• design a treatment plan
• take impressions
• complete procedures to fabricate the construction of removable partial or full dentures

Students will also provide services related to:

• denture repairs
• relines
• removable oral devices

In addition, students will learn techniques in the fabrication of implant overdentures through simulation.

The program consists of a challenging curriculum, including academic, clinical and laboratory skills. Emphasis is placed on interprofessional education, whereby students learn to function within a collaborative oral health-care team. Students are to assume responsibility for ensuring the client base required to participate in the clinical component of the program.

Graduates of this program are eligible to apply to take the CDO provincial licensing examination. (NOTE: Additional fees apply.) Successful completion of the examination is one of the requirements to be registered to practice as a Denturist in the province by the CDO. Your Field Education Options

• This three-year program offers valuable field experience that includes both onsite and offsite opportunities.

During the first year, students will spend time developing comprehensive lab skills that they will draw upon for the remainder of the program and throughout their future careers.

In the second year, students will build upon that foundation as they start working directly with patients, under the supervision of faculty, at our onsite state-of-the-art WAVE Dental Clinic.

In the final year, students will continue to develop their skills by treating a broad range of clients who have complex oral health care needs. Students can expect this work to be located at both our onsite WAVE Dental Clinic and offsite with a field partner.

PLEASE NOTE: Clinical hours include early mornings that can extend into the evening. Students are responsible for finding their own field experience opportunities and are required to get pre-approval of the placement site from program faculty.
