Students gain knowledge and hands-on experience to work in an adjunctive capacity as supportive personnel to qualified Speech-Language Pathologists and/or Audiologists in a variety of treatment settings. Students focus on conducting programming after the Speech-Language Pathologist or the Audiologist has completed the assessment and determined the therapy plan, as well as practicing the variety of other types of duties within this profession.

Based on a thorough understanding of physiological and functional speech/language and hearing disorders, students develop programming skills and learn intervention techniques to evoke and sustain communication behaviours. In addition, students identify the behaviour and environmental factors that can potentially support or erode the efficacy of therapy.

Students are provided with the knowledge, skills and experience to succeed within the sport industry. The fundamentals of business administration are introduced through courses in accounting, marketing, technology, research, and entrepreneurship. Operations in sport organizations are explored through curriculum in fundraising, sponsorship, program planning, leagues, tournament organizing and scheduling, fitness, outdoor recreation and facilities. In addition to the theoretical components of the program, practical experience is obtained through community leadership opportunities and field placements.

This program is designed to prepare students for exciting employment opportunities in the $15 billion Canadian golf industry, both on the golf course and off. Theoretical concepts taught in the classroom are blended with practical learning opportunities gained through exposure to various golf facilities. At the golf course level, students examine the many aspects of golf operations such as agronomy, hospitality, retail and golf event planning. Away from the golf course, students have the opportunity to explore a variety of career paths at facilities that support the game. Students gain professional and managerial skills for industry and self-employment, as well as practical experience through participation in a work term and extensive field trips to golf courses and golf industry properties.

Work-integrated learning
This program includes a co-op work term component where you will gain practical, on-the-job experience in your field.

For students interested in managing people or processes, Georgian''s two-year, Co-op, Business program provides a solid foundation in the basics of business. Studies in economics, accounting, marketing, and human resources lay the foundation for a good start. Individual courses provide the student with the fundamental knowledge and skills required to get to work. This program can launch a career or can be a spring-board into further studies.

This program carefully balances theory and practice and parallels the two year Hospitality Management - Hotel and Resort program. The unique benefits of this program are the opportunity over 1000 hours of paid work experience, extensive experiential learning, and a strong student-centred learning environment. This program delivers innovative curriculum and develops employability and strategic management skills within the pillars of the hospitality industry:

Additionally, the third year focuses on developing effective professional management and leadership skills to enable students to compete for positions of responsibility in the next generation of the hospitality service industry.

In this program, students are prepared for professional and essential support positions in the automotive industry by providing general business and specialized automotive education. Through eight months of co-op work experience and opportunities to network with industry professionals, students explore the automotive industry and learn from industry experts. Upon completion of the program students have the skills, knowledge, and experience to build a career across a broad range of sectors in the automotive industry.

Students are prepared to manage a food services department while adhering to professional standards, quality management programs, nutritional and healthy living principles and marketing and promotional activities. In addition, graduates are able to employ a number of more complex functions supporting organizational effectiveness including supporting the design of food and nutrition human resource plan, financial analysis and control, and collaborating in the preparation of an organization's business plan or client care plan. Students apply research competencies to the assessment, analysis and problem solving with regard to nutritional needs and diagnoses.

  • plan menus to accommodate the nutritional, dietary and medical needs, cultural and religious requirements, and personal preferences of clients;
  • manage handling, preparation and service of food to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, procedures, and industry best practices for health, safety, sanitation, quality assurance and client satisfaction;
  • manage nutritional needs of diverse clients in health care and other food service settings in collaboration with or under the direction of health care professionals;
  • support others to work professionally and ethically in accordance with industry, organization and legal standards;

In this program, students gain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes they need to become marketing professionals who can effectively manage a range of tasks and functions within business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C), not-for-profit, and government organizations. Using a broad range of analytical and creative approaches, students gain a wide understanding of marketing management fundamentals as they focus on concepts related to advertising, promotion, public relations, marketing research and data analytics, online/digital marketing, and international marketing management. As a result, students gain valuable insight into all aspects of marketing from an online, local, and international perspective.

Begin your career as a baker or pastry chef! Through hands-on training, students will study traditional and contemporary baking methods, the basics of pastry, cake decorating and contemporary dessert plating. Through classroom lectures, students learn baking theory, nutrition, trade calculations, sanitation, food safety and business concepts to support skills used in the daily operation of a bakery. Using global industry trends, graduates are prepared to critically think, innovate, and to professionally apply business management skills for lifelong career success as a baking professional in all sectors of the food service industry or as entrepreneurs.

Marketing professionals drive organizational success for corporations and non-profits by translating customer desires into effective strategies. Students learn to assess market opportunities, segment target markets, and create strategies and tactics that help achieve organizational goals. Students build a solid business foundation and develop skills across the spectrum of marketing activity, from research, through strategy development and planning, sales, digital marketing and social media, and persuasive communication across media platforms. Through the busy student-run agency, students work on a wide range of projects they ultimately pitch to the clients for possible implementation.
