This program carefully balances theory and practice and parallels the two year Hospitality Management - Hotel and Resort program. Begin your career as a baker or pastry chef! Through hands-on training, students will study traditional and contemporary baking methods, the basics of pastry, cake decorating and contemporary dessert plating. Through classroom lectures, students learn baking theory, nutrition, trade calculations, sanitation, food safety and business concepts to support skills used in the daily operation of a bakery. Using global industry trends, graduates are prepared to critically think, innovate, and to professionally apply business management skills for lifelong career success as a baking professional in all sectors of the food service industry or as entrepreneurs.

As we enter the next industrial revolution, advanced technology demands interdisciplinary skills. Mechatronics is the interdisciplinary study of electrical, mechanical and computing systems. Students gain expertise in electrical, mechanical, and computer engineering, and explore how these disciplines are interconnected. Using the systems level approach, students develop both the applied skills and theoretical knowledge to build, troubleshoot and support next generation industrial systems. Students acquire an understanding of electronics, digital circuits, motor control, robotics, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), pneumatics, hydraulic systems, machining, dynamics, stress analysis, the internet of things, web and database systems, and interface programming. Through an official partnership with Siemens, students prepare for industry recognized certifications including the Siemens Mechatronics Systems Certification program (SMSCP) certification. Students gain experience in problem solving, and effective oral and written communications through examination of current industry trends and requirements. Co-op terms provide opportunities to experience real-life industry skills, networking, and potential career paths.

Big Data allows users to visualize past, present, and future patterns by linking and presenting information in meaningful ways. Data Analytics offers deeper insight into the meaning of data sets by telling the story behind the information. This enables stakeholders to make more informed decisions, predict trends and better understand the needs and sentiments of customers. This program provides students with a unique blend of theoretical knowledge and applied skills. Students learn how to collect, curate, manipulate, encode, and store data sets so they can be analyzed and mined in such a way that they can be reused and repurposed to solve challenges that don't yet exist.

This program is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to become leaders in the fitness and health promotion industry. Success in the Fitness and Health promotion industry is supported by a fundamental understanding of scientific and business theory, which can be translated into practical application. Student in this program are exposed to the theory that they require to excel in this field, and are given multiple opportunities to apply theory in both class room and industry settings.

Environmental Technician students are trained as entry-level practitioners in the use of environmental sampling, monitoring and testing equipment and information technology tools and will be familiar with standard operating procedures for conducting environmental projects. Students are provided with applied knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislative requirements, environmental management systems, and the basic principles of ecosystem-based management for sustainability.

In this program, students engage in interdisciplinary problem-solving, combining visual sensitivity with skill and knowledge in the areas of communications, technology, and business. Students learn to structure visual information to aid communication in both print and web-based formats, and employ these skills in the creation of advertising, editorial, branding, and information design.

In this program, students are provided with both the technical and visual communication skills required for a variety of careers related to photography and imaging. The three main areas of focus are digital capture, imaging technologies, and entrepreneurial skills. Students use industry standard hardware and software to capture and manipulate images in a way that demonstrates their skill and creativity. Students learn how to integrate digital imaging techniques with the fundamentals of photography in order to create images that communicate effectively and meet the needs of a client. Furthermore, students develop business and career development skills that are relevant to the digital photography and imaging industries.

Marketing professionals drive organizational success for corporations and non-profits by translating customer desires into effective strategies. Students learn to assess market opportunities, segment target markets, and create strategies and tactics that help achieve organizational goals. Students build a solid business foundation and develop skills across the spectrum of marketing activity, from research, through strategy development and planning, sales, digital marketing and social media, and persuasive communication across media platforms. Through the busy student-run agency, students work on a wide range of projects they ultimately pitch to the clients for possible implementation. 

This program is designed to prepare students for exciting employment opportunities in the golf sector of the hospitality industry. Theoretical concepts taught in the classroom are blended with practical learning opportunities gained through exposure to various golf facilities in North America. Students are exposed to all aspects of golf operations from turf care and maintenance to the operation of retail outlets and golf event planning. Students also gain professional and entrepreneurial skills for industry and self-employment, as well as real life experience through participation in a work term and extensive field trips to golf courses in Canada and the U.S.
