This program is an internationally recognized co-operative marine engineering cadet program designed in co-operation with Transport Canada Marine Safety and Security (TCMSS) and Canada's shipping companies. Students focus on developing competencies required to function as part of a shipboard marine engineering team. Content includes, and is based upon, the TCMSS Engineering Officer Education Training (EOET) program requirements.

The final two semesters are open to anyone holding an STCW Reg. III/1 Marine Engineer Certificate of Competency. These students can apply for advanced standing exempting them from the first two years of the program. Upon completion of semesters five and six, they may be exempted from written examinations for 2nd and Chief Engineer Officer.

Work-integrated learning
This program includes a co-op work term component where you will gain practical, on-the-job experience in your field.

Public Safety and Legal Studies

Diploma in Police Foundations

Students participate in both academic and practical courses that develop the knowledge and skills demanded by Canadian police services. A common first year with the Protection/Security and Investigation program and the Community and Justice Service program allows students the opportunity to transfer between programs after the first year of study. During the first year, students focus on gaining an understanding of criminal justice in Canada as well as practicing healthy and active lifestyles related to law enforcement.

In this program, students focus on forensic crime scene investigation, interview skills, use of force theory and application, police powers, and crisis intervention techniques. Physical training and career preparation components of the program are designed to prepare students to meet the specific demands of police recruitment processes and a career in the field.

A common first year with the Community and Justice Services and Protection, Security and Investigation programs provides students with an overall understanding of criminal justice and law enforcement in Canada and also allows students the opportunity to transfer between programs after the first year of study and possibly receive all three credential in four years. Graduating students may also have the opportunity to further their studies at the degree level at the Orillia Campus with our unique four-year Bachelor of Human Services - Police Studies degree.

Feed your dreams! This one year program trains students to work in professional kitchens regionally, nationally, and internationally. Students learn fundamental food knowledge and develop skills of food preparation and presentation that prepares them for lifelong career success with strong industry connections. Students practice professionalism, culinary and management skills, safety and sanitation, nutrition, product knowledge and identification while applying their skills in a hands on learning environment. This program provides the in school portion of the cook apprenticeship program of the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development.

Diploma in Practical Nursing

The Georgian College Nursing Program philosophy and curriculum incorporate and utilize the concepts of caring as the basis of nursing practice. The students and faculty work together to explore nursing knowledge and caring theory. In the classroom, students in collaborative groups, work through learning activities and focus on the lived experiences of individuals, families, and groups. Knowledge from the program courses is integrated into the care of clients, families, and groups in a variety of settings.
