Humber’s Computer Programming and Analysis advanced diploma program is designed to prepare you for a wide variety of employment opportunities within the dynamic and ever-growing field of computer programming, software and web development and analysis.  

In addition to learning programming skills in a variety of languages, from Java and ASP.NET to PHP, Python and mobile programming (Android and iOS), the courses are designed to give students a solid foundation in theory and practice in web development and design, Oracle database management and administration, project management, technical writing, and all facets of information systems. This program also gives students the opportunity to study specialized topics such as AI (Artificial Intelligence), machine learning, data analytics, cloud computing, IT security and big data. 

Students also learn about the standards of planning, developing, testing and deploying integrated software solutions. In addition to building collaborative and teamwork soft skills, this program prepares students for today's competitive job market. 

Graduates of this program are prepared to analyze business requirements and justify solutions for the improvement or automation of organizational and individual workflow. From developing and testing computer programs to ensuring secure implementation of integrated solutions, graduates of this program will be equipped with the up-to-date skills and knowledge to succeed in a broad range of employment settings, in a variety of sectors, and in both large and small organizations. 

Optional Co-op
This program offers a co-op option. Co-op work terms enable you to apply your skills and knowledge in a work environment and gain valuable, practical experience related to your program of study. You will learn new skills, learn about the world of work and meet people in your profession. 

For students who are accepted into the program, three co-op work terms will take place. The first four-month work term is between Semesters 3 and 4, and then two consecutive four-month work terms between Semesters 4 and 5.? There are limited spaces in the co-op option. Therefore, you will apply for the co-op option during Semester 1 and be informed of the process by which to apply.??While co-op work opportunities are not guaranteed, as students are in a competitive job placement market, participating students will receive a wide range of services to help them find a co-op opportunity. 

Humber’s advanced diploma program in Electronics Engineering Technology consistently ranks among our most employable programs. This program builds on skills learned in the Electronics Engineering Technician diploma program and will prepare you to work in all fields where electric circuits and systems are found. You will acquire strong fundamental knowledge to help you build a career in all new and emerging technologies manufactured here in North America like photonics, laser technology, medical imaging, new electronic materials and devices, intelligent systems, entertainment, and broadcasting systems. The program takes a system design and integration approach to electronic applications, and you will gain in-depth knowledge and hands-on training in:

• Electronic circuits: analog, digital, radio-frequency and programmable circuits
• Connectivity and interface design, embedded microcontrollers, IoT integration
• The full skill set of computer networking including wireless networks
• Wireless telecommunications, antennas, waveguides and transmission lines
• Telecommunication electronics such as photonics, fibre optics and microwaves
• Signal acquisition and signal processing
• Image processing including high-definition television (HDTV) and medical imaging
• Control systems both embedded and computer-based
• Instrumentation used in industrial, scientific and medical applications

We have designed the curriculum in collaboration with an advisory panel comprising highly successful industry experts in order to ensure you are learning the most up-to-date, relevant material. You will spend approximately half your time in labs working with electronic, analog, digital and programmable circuits and learning how to embed these circuits into cell phones, audio equipment, high-definition (HD) video systems, robots, computers and advanced instruments.

This demand will only grow as technology continues to advance and change the way we live and work especially in industrially dynamic regions such as the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Our graduates work at major organizations such as CTV and CBC, Ontario Power Generation, Hydro One, Rogers, Telus and Bell, as well as BlackBerry, Celestica, and GE Canada, to mention just a few. They put the skills to work in research and development where they build prototypes and test new devices. They are manufacturers’ representatives, technical salespeople, managers and entrepreneurs. They manufacture electronic systems and install, maintain and troubleshoot such systems through their lifecycle. Some of our graduates choose to strike out on their own and launch their own businesses.

Humber’s Broadcasting - Radio diploma program is designed to prepare you for the performative, creative, technical and business aspects of the radio and audio world. You will learn about radio station operations, broadcast and production equipment, and the fundamentals of gathering, writing, producing, and delivering content for all genres of radio and podcasting. You will also gain in-demand skills in station management, sales, marketing, news, programming and market research.

Your studies will combine practical and theoretical aspects of radio broadcasting including effective speaking skills that can be applied to announcing, and news and sports delivery. You will also be trained in writing and producing for radio using industry software and audio equipment - to fully prepare you for a variety of careers in radio.

Students in our program contribute to 96.9 FM Radio Humber, our fully licensed campus and community radio station, regulated by the Canadian Radio-Television Telecommunications Commission (CRTC). Our signal transmits in the GTA and our station can be heard world-wide via radio.humber.ca. Your radio broadcasting education will include the opportunity to contribute to Radio Humber by creating original content in our digital studios and bringing it to life for our listeners.

Work Placement

• Students will participate in a mandatory work placement during the last semester of study. Our placement partners include 680 News, Global News Radio 640 Toronto, KiSS 92.5, Rogers Sportsnet 590 The FAN, 102.1 The Edge, Indie 88, Z103.5 FM, Newstalk 1010, and CBC Radio, among others.

From the business side of hospitality, to à la carte cuisine, Humber’s Culinary Skills certificate program prepares you for a career as a professional chef. Gain theoretical and practical skills while learning in cutting-edge labs and real-world settings with the latest kitchen technology and equipment.

Many graduates of this one-year program continue on for another year and complete the Culinary Management diploma program or enter our Cook Apprenticeship program.

Students also have the opportunity to experience preparing meals on the Humber Food Truck, Humber’s classroom on wheels. A fast-track program is implemented for the January start. The first semester (January to April) is immediately followed by the second semester (May to August).

The curriculum for this program is similar to the first year of the Culinary Management program. This allows students to transition into the Culinary Management program after the first semester or at the end of the second semester with bridging courses. Alternatively, students are able to move into the Cook Apprenticeship program providing they have an eligible employer.

Humber’s Practical Nursing diploma program provides the skills and knowledge needed to become a registered practical nurse (RPN). You will develop, practise and refine your skills in our state-of-the-art clinical simulation, computer and bioscience labs with direct clinical practice and simulated laboratory experiences. Humber is a leading-edge facility in every respect. This program has been awarded the highest rating for accreditation - a testament to its excellence. Practice and learn in our bioscience and health science laboratories – including clinical simulation labs that provide hands-on learning in a controlled environment. Continuous placement in a range of clinical settings enhances your ability to apply in-classroom education to real-life situations.

You will participate in a total of 1,035 hours of unpaid clinical placements over the course of the program which take place over each semester and give you valuable hands-on experience. The school arranges and communicates with all placements. Throughout the first year of the program, you will participate in a unique community-service learning placement in a variety of community settings. In Semester 2, you will work in a long-term care setting, while Semester 3 takes place in rehabilitation, complex or acute-care settings. In Semester 2 and 3, you will also participate in clinical simulation and/or Stilwell (a virtual learning community designed to represent a typical Canadian neighbourhood). In Semester 4, you will complete a preceptored (one-on-one placement alongside a registered practical nurse) pre-graduate clinical practice.

According to Human Resources and Skills Development Canada, nursing is seen as a highgrowth career option with more than 14,000 openings projected annually until at least 2020. As a graduate of our program, you will be able to work in various health-care settings including acute-care hospitals, long-term care, rehabilitation services, community services, psychiatry, homes for the aging, public health units, community nursing agencies, clinics, private practices, schools and child-care centres. Many of our graduates go on to complete postgraduate advanced-skills education used in specialty disciplines such as surgery, dialysis, cardiology and emergency.

In Humber’s Radio and Media Production graduate certificate program, students develop the skills to make entertaining and engaging broadcasts and podcasts. Imagine combining the experience of your degree or diploma with new skills in audio storytelling and broadcasting. Graduates of our program are working in all aspects of radio and podcast production across Canada. Many are instrumental in some of Canada's most popular podcasts, and some have been recognized at the 2019 Canadian Podcasting Awards.
Students get hands-on experience in radio and audio production studio techniques; on-air announcing, newscast performance and sports reporting; hosting live music and public affairs programs; writing stories, shows, commercials and scripts, radio programming and promotions; interviewing techniques and more. They produce exciting audio and visual content including video and podcasts in Humber’s leading-edge production studios.
Students learn about the latest trends and developments in broadcasting and podcasting, and prepare for careers in media production including on-air, on-camera, online and social media.  They create original digital audio content and experience the thrill of having their work distributed by broadcast on the radio, podcast streaming or other means including social media.
Students take intensive classes and workshops with expert faculty where they apply their new skills to studio and broadcast operations.  By second semester, students can choose to perform live in our streaming or broadcast radio stations as a music host, newscaster or announcer. Hands-on training in on-air performance is provided through Humber’s student radio station, on 96.9FM, which is also streamed online and through various listening apps. Alternatively, students can choose to focus on creative studio production techniques and on-air operations.
Work Placement
This program includes a work placement component to give students an opportunity to gain valuable practical experience in their area of interest in the radio and audio production industries. The 160 hour placement is done in the summer semester after two semesters of study and practice. 

Photography diploma at Humber is one of the most highly regarded and longest-running photographic training programs in the country. In this two-year program, you will develop both a professional skillset and creative thinking abilities to become job ready for the visual communications industry.

Through the four semesters of study, students learn advanced photographic techniques giving them the ability to bring their visual imaginations to life. Classes are hands-on, and you will develop additional skills in planning, production and post-production. These assets, along with soft skills in communications and networking, will give you the solid foundation needed for your career ahead.

From advertising photography to editorial and portraiture, to motion capture and e-commerce imaging, you will graduate from this program prepared to engage fully in a wide range of visual imaging career options. In this program, you will:

be trained on full frame DSLR and medium format digital cameras, along with professional studio and location lighting and grip equipment
learn to be an effective visual storyteller across multiple platforms
produce corporate video and audio for the web and other applications
produce assets from client layouts for digital and print end use
shoot professional photographic images in both the studio and on-location environments
print professional archival digital and one-of-a-kind analogue prints
capture, process and edit content using current software applications such as Photoshop, Lightroom, Capture One Pro and Premiere Pro
learn the business side of photography including quoting, invoicing and building working relationships with clients

Following a work placement in final semester, the program culminates with a graduate portfolio show where students network with industry, and introduce their skills with portfolios, video footage and large format prints.

Humber’s Supply Chain Management graduate certificate program provides you with a solid grounding in both business and global supply chain issues. Major changes in processes and technology have led to a high demand for workers with modern supply chain skills.

You will learn to research and analyze the marketplace; develop demand forecasts; evaluate suppliers’ capabilities to deliver; utilize technology such as Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing (SAP); develop aggregate and master production plans/schedules; and analyze business processes.

You will also learn industry-standard theories, methods, and techniques (Six Sigma, Total Quality Management, Just-in-Time, Lean) and how they apply to supply chain management strategies and problem solving.

Humber is a SAP University Alliances member school, ensuring you learn this key supply chain management software.

Humber’s Electrical Engineering Technician – Control Systems diploma program focuses on three major concentrations in electrical engineering:

• Power industry
• Process instrumentation
• Programmable logic controllers (PLCs).

Our courses are designed in collaboration with an industry advisory panel, ensuring you learn current and relevant material. The program blends classroom theory with laboratory work on subjects such as electric devices and circuits, digital and programming fundamentals, power generation and distribution, electrical computer-aided design and drafting (CADD), electrical code, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and technical communications.

Complex and challenging assignments prepare you for the realities of a control systems and electrical engineering career. Jump-start your career in the power industry, process instrumentation field as a control specialist or working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Our graduates can find work as technicians – designing, maintaining, servicing or selling automated industrial, electrical machines, electrical control, power and process instrumentation systems and equipment. The Advanced Chocolate and Confectionery Artistry graduate certificate program offers you an opportunity to develop high-level skills in pastry arts. Using advanced techniques and sophisticated equipment, you will design and produce artisanal chocolates and confections, international desserts, frozen preparations, and multi-tiered special occasion cakes in Humber's state-of-the-art bake labs. You will research current trends and emerging technologies in chocolate and confectionery with a focus on sustainability and environmental stewardship. Studies in entrepreneurship, and recipe and product development will culminate in the launch of a branded product.

This program is offered in a flexible learning environment allowing students to learn online, in-class or in a hybrid format. Practical classes take place in the evening to accommodate working professionals.
