Humber’s Home Renovation Technician diploma program covers both the technical and business aspects of the home renovation industry. You will study all facets of house construction and basic building systems including building codes. Your courses will provide you with the business skills that you need to succeed in the industry, including management, estimating, finances and communications. Humber’s labs provide plenty of opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience. The program is offered in an accelerated format, enabling you to enter the workforce sooner by completing the equivalent of four semesters of study in three semesters (in one calendar year).

Humber’s Hospitality - Hotel and Restaurant Operations Management diploma program is a leader in hospitality management training. You will develop your business management skills via hands-on learning, theoretical classes and practical labs led by industry experts.

Note:- A fast-track program is implemented for the January start. The first semester (January to April) is immediately followed by the second semester (May to July), resulting in a shorter summer break. Humber’s Game Programming advanced diploma program is project-driven and focuses on programming and designing game engines for the purpose of game development, from indie to AAA. You will work on team projects using programming tools to develop, test and maintain game applications through the practice of theories of usability, information architectures, network architecture and industry standards of practice. Topics such as coding, game engine design, game production, artificial intelligence, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and platform-specific programming are all covered by a comprehensive set of courses.

Through lectures and hands-on work, you will learn the fundamentals of the technical and aesthetic creation of digital media content and get the opportunity to specialize and target specific post-production skills to maximize your marketability in a competitive industry.

You will learn how to collaborate with other departments in the production chain, and how to develop efficient broadcast standard workflows. Work Placement

• This program includes a mandatory work placement. We work with you to find a suitable placement in your chosen field of specialization, allowing you to apply the skills you’ve learned in a professional environment. Placements will take place in post-production houses and media companies in Toronto. Work placements are typically unpaid but provide you with the opportunity to further your knowledge in your chosen field and begin to build your resumé and network of professional contacts.

Humber’s Baking and Pastry Arts Management diploma program, taught in our state-of-the-art baking and pastry labs, is designed to propel you into a career in the baking and pastry industry. Learn how to make impressive confectionery creations such as:

You will gain hands-on experience working in various settings, individually and as a team member, creating baking and pastry delicacies. The first year of the program consists of foundational courses while in second year, you begin in-depth training in baking and pastry arts. You will learn the foundation of traditional and contemporary techniques in baking and pastry arts management exploring measurements, safety and sanitation, and various types of dough. As well, you’ll study the emerging opportunities of this specialized field, international trends and applications used in the industry. Areas of study in the program also include courses in business and career management, entrepreneurship, and computer applications for the food-service industry, as well as general education and communications courses. Our seven on-campus kitchen labs comprise the most modern facilities in the world. Among them are the award-winning culinary demonstration theatre and kitchen lab, induction cooking labs with high-tech exhaust and theatre-style seating and cooking demonstration area.

Qualified students will complete an unpaid work placement in the baking and pastry industry in the Greater Toronto Area for seven weeks in the fourth semester (40 hours per week). Students will also be able to apply for placements across Canada and Europe, which have jump-started many successful careers.

Humber’s Welding Techniques certificate program is designed to help introduce prospective welders to the trade. The program aims to facilitate employment and entry into the apprenticeship program by giving you practical experience with trade regulations and practices. You will gain a solid understanding of the various technical theory and elements of the welding trade. You will be exposed to topics including health and safety, blueprint reading and sketching, applied math, communication, shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, introduction to computers, and all position structural welding.
