In Humber's Media Foundation certificate program, you will develop foundational knowledge and skills in digital media, communications, writing, and design, as preparation for further study in advanced media programs in Humber's Faculty of Media & Creative Arts. Your media training and in-studio work on media arts will thoroughly ground you in foundational theory, and you will use up-to-date, industry-standard software to create various media content. 

This program is designed with input from industry partners, and is taught by faculty with strong industry connections and experience who can give you valuable insights into the trends and realities of the media industry. In the first semester, you will develop strong skills for successful postsecondary learning while you are introduced to film studies, photography, communications and digital design. In your second and final semester, you will consolidate your general theoretical knowledge and practical skills in Visual Literacy and will build an area of focus by choosing four electives from Video Production, Script Writing, Audio and Video Editing, Television Studio Production, Media Communications, Image Capture, and Design for Media.

Designed for students who are new to postsecondary education and media, this two semester program will give you a broad understanding of what it is like to work in different sectors of the media industry, and will help you to develop a career focus in preparation for future learning and success in the workplace.

Humber's Professional Accounting Practice graduate certificate program provides you with the required knowledge and skills essential to begin and advance in the field of accounting. You will be well prepared for careers in the field with knowledge of all accounting disciplines including financial accounting, management accounting, audit and assurance, finance, and personal and corporate tax. You will also develop computer technology, management, problem-solving and critical thinking skills, along with professional communication and interpersonal skills. This program is a path for students already holding a bachelor's degree in any discipline other than accounting and who are interested in pursuing the Chartered Professional Accounting designation. No prior accounting knowledge is required.

Work Placement
Humber has the only graduate certificate of its kind in Ontario that provides students with hands-on work experience in the field of accounting. Through a mandatory 160 hour work placement, students will make industry connections and can gain experience in small, medium and large organizations, and in entrepreneurial start-ups.

Humber’s Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology advanced diploma program provides you with comprehensive knowledge of energy systems used for commercial and industrial complexes. As you progress through the program, you will learn to apply engineering principles and conventions to achieve optimal energy efficiency through a process of evaluation, monitoring, load evaluation through software modelling, direct digital control (DDC), assessment and necessary corrective action.
Our program features an optional, paid work placement directly related to your program of study. The work experience is designed to enable you to apply your skills and knowledge in an actual work environment, as well as enhance your employability upon graduation. The work placement takes place after the completion of Semester 4, for a minimum of 400 hours. Participating students are required to complete work preparation sessions prior to the work term to help them develop an industry specific resumé and effective interviewing skills. Humber provides a range of services to support student success including working with business, industry and government to identify employment opportunities.

Up to 20 per cent of the cost of constructing a new commercial building can be attributed to heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment. The push for greater energy efficiency is creating exciting opportunities for professionals who apply the effective and appropriate handling of energy to the design, installation and operation of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HRAC) systems. Opportunities exist in the commercial and industrial sectors, as well as in various levels of government departments. Your potential employers include heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration manufacturers; consulting engineers; architects; process industries; wholesalers; distributors; mechanical contractors; building owners; chain stores; energy management firms; property management companies; and school boards.

The Artificial Intelligence with Machine Learning Ontario Graduate Certificate was developed to fill the need for a growing and in-demand skillset. Designed for students with experience in computer programming, software development or computer science, students learn the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to apply AI models and ML algorithms to a broad range of practical applications including natural language processing, image processing, computer vision and for business decision making. Students will also gain experience in applying AI tools in data analytics and data mining. Technical skills will be complemented by knowledge in regulations, policy and ethics in applying AI technology, as well as project management, communication and teamwork skills.

In the final semester, learners complete an industry-supervised capstone project to solve real-world problems and to showcase skills and knowledge that they have learned in the program. Their projects are showcased at an exhibition event to industry partners, community leaders, faculties and peer students. The program also provides opportunities to engage with a broad community and industry network through guest speakers, network events and applied research in collaboration with industry partners.

Humber’s Electronics Engineering Technician diploma program emphasizes electronic products, control systems and telecommunications - all built on a strong basis of computer and networking engineering. The program provides you with hands-on experience of electronic, analog, digital and programmable circuits. Our experienced faculty will teach you about computer programming, interfacing, local networks, radio frequency circuits, basic programmable logic controllers (PLC), industrial electronics, wired and wireless communication devices, and troubleshooting techniques. You’ll be taught how to embed these circuits into smart devices, industrial equipment, and consumer products.

You’ll also build and test circuit boards, learn electronics fabrication, program PLCs and design embedded systems in our state-of-the-art labs including a prototyping facility.

Humber’s Welding Techniques certificate program is designed to help introduce prospective welders to the trade. The program aims to facilitate employment and entry into the apprenticeship program by giving you practical experience with trade regulations and practices. You will gain a solid understanding of the various technical theory and elements of the welding trade. You will be exposed to topics including health and safety, blueprint reading and sketching, applied math, communication, shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, introduction to computers, and all position structural welding. You will learn valuable skills by using the latest industry software programs and working in fully equipped up-to-date labs and shops. At Humber, skilled instructors highlight current trends within the industry and strive to duplicate situations that apprentices and skilled tradespeople will see in their everyday working life.

Humber’s Bachelor of Engineering program begins with a common platform of first year courses which provide foundational engineering knowledge and skills. Following the first year, the curriculum branches into three different discipline areas: Information Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, and The Built Environment.  

The Bachelor of Engineering – The Built Environment discipline gives you hands-on experience with industry-standard advanced technology. In upper years students choose from focused study in either sustainable building or built environment information systems. They solve real industry and community problems and gain knowledge and skills in civil, architectural, structural, and environmental engineering. These abilities are in high demand as industry explores the use of innovative and resilient technologies and processes to make the construction of buildings and communities safer, more efficient and sustainable.     

Students use digital design applications and data capture technologies such as 3D scanning and mapping to integrate new and sustainable elements of the built environment into existing buildings, communities and cities. Virtual and augmented reality complement a design thinking approach to solving real world problems. 

Work Placement
A co-op work program (three consecutive work terms, 420 hour each) ensures that work-integrated learning experiences are woven into the curriculum. This provides students with a contextual understanding of the industry and specific sectors they are training for, as well as recognition of the importance of hands-on experience.

Humber’s Business Management diploma program gets down to business with a practical, skills-based approach that teaches you everything you need to know to achieve your goals and make a difference in organizations. Our curriculum gets you up to speed on the essential aspects of business including marketing, e-commerce, accounting, business writing and communications. Through individual and group assignments in courses taught by experienced professionals and entrepreneurs, you’ll build your business management knowledge and gain first-hand insights into current business practices, trends and opportunities.

In the first year, you will be introduced to an overview of fundamental business disciplines including the mathematics of finance, PC essentials, marketing, microeconomics, business law, services marketing and the principles of management. Work Placement

In Humber’s Electromechanical Engineering Technician diploma program, you’ll learn how to support the engineering activities of manufacturers that rely increasingly on automation technology to maintain a competitive edge in the global economy. Develop skills in industrial automation, robotics, control systems, machining, hydraulics, pneumatics, safety, mechatronics, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), electrical, programming, manufacturing process, and computer-control methods.

Coursework reflects real-world demands through independent and co-operative study in practical environments, including experience with industrial size modern equipment. From robotics to mobile devices to automobiles and food processing, our graduates make their mark on processing, packaging, power generation, mining, machine assembly, troubleshooting and testing, systems integration, application support, maintenance, component testing and assembly, automation programming, robotic maintenance and programming, and technical sales and services. Automation systems integrators are needed to build, troubleshoot, and maintain robotic and automated manufacturing cells, as well as mobile equipment.
