This two-year program will prepare students for a profession that provides services and advocacy for individuals with a wide range of cognitive, physical, social, and emotional limitations. During the program, students will learn theoretical foundations and practical skills which will allow them to competently work through the therapeutic recreation process.

The practice of Recreation Therapy is based on the belief that play, recreation and leisure are essential to achieving an individual’s optimal health and sense of wellbeing which leads to improved quality of life. Through the development of meaningful goals and objectives individuals working in the field of Recreation Therapy will use recreation as a therapeutic tool to improve health and restore wellness.

Through volunteering, field placements, and a variety of community experiences, students will receive valuable hands on experience. These experiences will provide students with the opportunity to further develop their skills in the areas of assessment, program development, planning and evaluations. In addition, students will have the opportunity to receive additional specialized training while enrolled in the Recreation Therapy program, such as Gentle Persuasive Approach and Mental Health First Aid.

The curriculum of this three-year advanced diploma has experiential learning opportunities integrated throughout including field placement, industry experiences, field trips, and service learning. Our students are at the forefront of providing leadership for our industry partners including the Sarnia Sting of the Ontario Hockey League who are located on campus.

Leadership, teamwork, project management, research, information technology, marketing, time management, and communication are but a few skills employers in this industry are looking for when hiring. Our graduates are highly sought because they are industry ready.

Looking for a program that leads to a rewarding career in accounting, that challenges students to develop valuable critical thinking and analytical skills, and has an option for a simple pathway to a university degree – then the three-year Business Administration – Accounting program is definitely the right fit for you! This program can lead to various pathways to professional accounting credentials that can be beneficial to career development and advancement. Graduates of this program pursue careers as managerial accountants, financial analysts, tax professional, auditors and small business controllers.

Students in this program receive a well-rounded and thorough education in important aspects of business such as human resources, law and marketing in addition to the comprehensive accounting courses taught by Lambton's accounting faculty who bring a wealth of industry experience and all hold the Chartered Professional Accountants designation. There is a focus on developing strong communication, planning, teamwork, and analytical skills while studying accounting theory and practice, financial statement analysis, cost management and control, taxation, and computerized accounting systems.

Experiential Learning Opportunities 
Because practical work experiences are vital, students are given the option to participate in a co-op work experience in term 5. This provides exposure to a business environment and valuable work experience in the accounting field. In the final year of the program students utilize all their knowledge, skills, and abilities gained over the duration of their program in the Entrepreneurship capstone courses. Through a series of culminating reports and presentations, students showcase their knowledge, skills and abilities to corporate partners who provide feedback and enhance this experiential learning opportunity.

The Lambton College Canadian Culinary Operations, Ontario College Graduate Certificate is a two-year program that introduces students to the traditional as well as the unique practices of Canadian-inspired culinary dishes. Students experience all facets of the Canadian food industry where trends and dining culture are constantly evolving.

Program curriculum reflects the demanding knowledge and skills required of a successful culinary professional who must constantly adapt to all Canadian industry standards regardless of the enterprise. Faculty are committed to sharing with students the importance of sustainable practices as it applies to purchasing and preparing local foods in various Canadian environments. Specific courses on applied nutrition, geographical gastronomy and the science of food and beverage reflect changing consumer tastes.

The program emphasizes the importance of operating a fiscally responsible food business through the application of business principles and costing and control practices. Technology and mobile applications are integrated into business operations with emphasis on the development of marketing and promotional strategies. Students work in accordance with relevant industry, organization and legal standards and regulations, as well as Canadian industry best practices for health, safety, sanitation, quality assurance and customer service.

The professional focus and high standards of the Canadian Culinary Operations program serves graduates well when it comes time to begin their careers. Program graduates may perform effectively as members of food and beverage service teams in Canadian establishments. They are prepared for employment opportunities in a range of settings including: restaurants, bakeries, hotels, spas, motels, resorts, cruise ships, hospitals, industrial kitchens, long-term care institutions, and catering companies. Some graduates may find fulfillment in entrepreneurial opportunities.

Co-op students have the opportunity to apply classroom learning to the workplace. Co-op placement opportunities help students gain valuable work experience that may assist them in finding permanent employment after they graduate. Securing a Co-op Placement
The job market for co-op is very competitive and students are expected to be active participants in their job searches, this includes demonstrated activity on the myCareer System.
Lambton College cannot guarantee co-op positions for students. Success in finding a co-op involves a number of factors that are not controlled by Lambton College.
Limited assistance is provided to students in finding co-op placements. Students will also be expected to canvass employers to find their own placements. Completing a co-op work term is mandatory for graduation.
Any student who secures his or her own co-op position must verify with the Co-op & Career Advisor assigned to the program that the proposed co-op is appropriate and will be approved before accepting the position.

The Lambton College Biomaterials & Chemical Laboratory Analysis - Applied Science, Ontario College Graduate Certificate, two-year program provides focused, experiential education to meet the demands of the energy, advanced materials, cannabis and other natural health product industries. 

In this program, students study advanced concepts in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, physics and mathematics applied to chemical analysis and complex problem solving in a hands-on laboratory environment.

Students conduct tests and develop solutions to problems in analyses of raw materials, products, or environmental samples, synthesize organic or inorganic compounds and prepare reports and technical documentation related to chemical analyses. Within the laboratory environment, graduates implement, coordinate and evaluate quality assurance and quality control procedures, in accordance with international and industry standards and government regulations. The program prepares students to analyze natural products, energy and advanced materials for quality and contribute to research and development.

This program is a true pathway program. Liberal Studies is designed for those who wish to pursue a university education or degree completion. Following completion of the program, and provided that all requirements are met, students will have the opportunity to apply for entry into a university degree.

This program is rooted in a variety of humanities and social science disciplines. An emphasis on developing university-level skills in critical thinking, communication, research, literacy and numeracy prepares students for professional environments which impact society, business and technology.

Graduates of the Liberal Studies program may receive transfer credits toward degrees at Ontario universities. Graduates of this program may apply to Huron, Brescia, King's or Western University for acceptance into the second year of a specified Bachelor's program.

The Border Services program provides foundational knowledge and experiential hands on-learning to individuals who aspire to work as border services officers.

During the first year, a broad theoretical foundation is provided on human relations, mental health, critical interpersonal, communication and team building skills and an overview of the criminal justice system. The second year focuses on courses specific to determining admissibility of persons, goods and conveyances into Canada, legislation, documentation and technology required to move goods and people across the border. In addition, students will acquire important communication skills, dispute resolution and critical thinking skills required as Canada's first line of defense.

Students also achieve certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training from the Crisis Prevention Institute and Introduction to Incident Management System (IMS-100) from Emergency Management Ontario. The goal of the Border Services program is to provide students with a well-rounded education that prepares them for not only a career in public safety but also as a foundation for continual educational pathways into related fields of study.

Our criminal justice lab offers students the opportunity to bridge the gap between theory and practice in an innovative real world setting. By moving beyond theory, students learn by doing and get first-hand experience of practicing what has been taught. Students also gain volunteer hours and field related experience through participation in Lambton College's student run Safe Walk program. Lambton College's faculty is diverse representing the criminal justice system, police, border, security and other related professionals. Specialized courses within the program have an interdisciplinary focus and allow students from various first responder courses to learn together in the classroom and in scenarios. These experiential learning opportunities, coupled with small class sizes, ensures students receive a quality educational experience.

The Chemical Laboratory Technician program will produce technically skilled problem solvers. Graduates will be prepared to assume entry-level positions in a variety of industrial, government or consulting organizations. The course of study includes hands on introductions to Laboratory Analyzers, Organic Synthesis and Biochemical and Microbiological techniques as well as an overview of key underlying theoretical principles.

The Lambton College Interprofessional Practice - Gerontology, Ontario College Graduate Certificate focuses on preparing graduates to work interprofessionally to enhance their professional practice to care for aging adults and families who require complex and/or long-term care within institutions or in the home in Canada. In the program, students develop skills in collaborative patient-centred care and inclusive practice.

Program curriculum includes comprehensive patient assessment and team approaches to client and family centric care planning and delivery. Students also study various age-related changes in social, psychological and biological functions to evaluate the implications of these changes on individuals' ability to interact with their social and physical environments and on individuals' care needs.

As a culmination of program learning, students participate in both an interprofessional field placement within a community organization as well as a community project, which includes the completion of an associated capstone project research paper. Program curriculum along with real world experiences prepares graduates for employment in a range of Canadian work settings including senior centres, day and leisure programs, research and education services, retirement homes, long term care homes, group homes and home support services.

This advanced diploma program prepares students to work in a variety of agencies and organizations concerned with the complex challenges of children, youth and their families. Child and Youth Care Practitioners utilize a relational approach, while working with children, youth and their families, building on strengths to facilitate positive change, promoting resiliency, independence and self-advocacy. The ability to manage stress, present in a professional and dependable manner, and work closely with others is key to succeeding in this field. This program is ideally suited for emotionally mature individuals with a strong desire to help children and adolescents in a time of crisis. Lambton College will prepare students for a rewarding and challenging career as Child and Youth Care Practitioner. 

Lambton College gives students a superior experience by providing three unique placement opportunities that can lead to future employment. Students enjoy small class sizes and personal attention, especially through experiential learning opportunities where academic subjects are put into practice in concurrent supervised field placements. Field placements require a police record check including a vulnerable sectors check.

Graduates leave the program with approximately 1,500 hours of field placement, a unique capstone experience and are eligible for full membership and certification with the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Care (OACYC), the Council of Canadian Child and Youth Care Associations (CCCYCA), as well as international certification with the Child and Youth Care Certification Board (CYCCB). Graduates also possess the knowledge and skills required to serve children, youth and families in school, residential, youth justice, hospitals, community, and mental health environments.
