In the current business environment, professionals have much more responsibility. Today, they are leaders and managers. Indeed, one of the major challenges they face is managing complex projects that are critical to their business organizations.

In the first year of the Advanced Project Management & Strategic Leadership program, students will gain skills in project management and business leadership. The program includes all 10 project management knowledge areas based on the PMI® A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) - Sixth Edition, Project Management Institute, Inc., 2017.

During the second year of the program, studies go beyond the mechanics of the project and explore the dynamics of managing relationships. The scope of the third term includes stakeholder, client and executive relationship management, organizational culture and cultural pluralism and leading the project team in the project environment. Lastly, in the full-time work term or applied project students gain experience in a project-based work environment.

This program requires students to purchase a mandatory eBook and courseware fees. This fee will be applied to your student account in the first and second term. This program requires students to bring their own technological devices. 

Co-op Info
Co-op students have the opportunity to apply classroom learning to the workplace. Co-op placement opportunities help students gain valuable work experience that may assist them in finding permanent employment after they graduate. Students have access to our Co-op & Career Advisors who provide comprehensive co-op and career development services and resources for co-op students.

Individuals with an educational aspiration for entry into policing, other related law enforcement agencies, or careers in law and justice will find it with the Police Foundations program.

During the first year, a broad theoretical foundation is provided on human relations, mental health, critical interpersonal, communication and team building skills and an overview of the criminal justice system. The second year focuses on courses specific to law enforcement, investigation, police powers and community policing. Students also achieve certification in Non-violent Crisis Intervention training from the Crisis Prevention Institute and Introduction to Incident Management System (IMS 100) from Emergency Management Ontario. The goal of the Police Foundations program is to provide students with a well-rounded education that prepares them for not only a career in law enforcement, but also as a foundation for continual educational pathways into related fields of study.

Our criminal justice lab offers students the opportunity to bridge the gap between theory and practice in an innovative real world setting. By moving beyond theory, students learn by doing and get first-hand experience of practicing what has been taught. Students also gain volunteer hours and field related experience through participation in Lambton College's student run Safe Walk program. Lambton College's faculty is diverse representing the criminal justice system, police, border, security and other related professionals. Specialized courses within the program have an interdisciplinary focus and allow students from various first responder courses to learn together in the classroom and in scenarios. These experiential learning opportunities, coupled with small class sizes, ensures students receive a quality educational experience.

The Occupational Health & Safety Management Ontario College Graduate Certificate program is a multi-disciplinary program that is designed to encompass a broad range of knowledge in occupational health, safety and environmental management systems that are critical to an organizations success. This program provides students with a strong health and safety foundation by developing the competencies required for the effective development, implementation and evaluation of health and safety systems in occupational settings.

Emphasis is placed upon learning the application of legislation and recognizing, controlling and evaluation workplace hazards. This program will enable students to become leaders in health and safety by motivating proactive behavioural change. Students will anticipate and employ strategies to manage emerging health, safety and environmental issues while examining accident theories, emergency response planning, ergonomic principles, risk management principles and the promotion of workplace safety and wellness.

Throughout Canada only certified Power Engineers are permitted to operate, maintain and manage equipment such as boilers, compressors, turbines and refrigeration units. Lambton College’s newly renovated closed loop 107 KW power generation plant operates exclusively as a training facility and is located in Centre of Excellence in Energy & Bio-Industrial Technologies. This is the only training unit of its kind in Ontario and students work collaboratively to generate and operate the power plant. In addition, the Centre also offers many other state-of-practice laboratories including distillation pilot plants, water treatment facilities, computer simulators, electrical and control systems and much more. You will gain knowledge and skills of plant operations and maintenance focusing on the 4th Class level in year one and the 3rd Class level in year two.

There are 4 different levels of Operating Engineer status granted by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA), each level involving more complex tasks which qualify individuals for higher level employment. The first two years of Lambton College’s Power Engineering curriculum will make up the Power Engineering Technician, or PETN program. This program follows the curriculum of the standardized Power Engineer’s examination committee (SOPEEC) and prepares students to write the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) examinations for 4th, 3rd class certification.  

Steam Time Reduction
Importantly, successful completion of our unique curriculum will allow students to qualify for “steam time reduction”. Steam time reduction decreases the time required working in industry to qualify for their Power Engineering certification. Students who successfully pass their 1st and 2nd term courses qualify for a 9-month steam time reduction. Students who complete the 4th Class Power Engineering certification, including both TSSA examinations (4A & 4B) and obtain a 4-month CO-OP prior to the 3rd and 4th academic terms will qualify for 11 months of 3rd Class steam time reduction. Successful completion of the PETN program along with that CO-OP will result in a reduction of 20 months of steam time towards 3rd class certification.

This Ontario Graduate Certificate program is designed for students who wish to work as a Communicative Disorders Assistant in a supportive capacity with a qualified speech-language pathologist and/or audiologist. This 12-month program runs from September to August and prepares graduates to design and implement programming based on the assessments and treatment plans outlined by qualified speech-language pathologists and audiologists.

Many industries, ranging from construction and manufacturing to energy and health care are seeking specially trained workers to support and promote healthier workplaces. The Workplace Safety & Prevention Technician program is uniquely designed to assist students in identifying, assessing, and managing risks in a variety of work environments. Graduates can expect to attain the competencies required to effectively implement and evaluate health and safety systems in occupational settings.

Program curriculum will define health and safety objectives and students will develop corresponding policies and procedures. Emphasis is placed upon the understanding of legislation and recognizing, preventing and evaluating workplace hazards. Students will also develop the skills necessary to identify and report on safety and health conditions in a workplace. 

Graduates will be able to conduct risk assessments and hygiene tests to prevent hazards and harm to workers, property, the environment, and the general public. These graduates may find employment in a variety of industry sectors as safety inspection, auditing, risk management, emergency management, environmental management, and human resource management roles.

The 280-hour field placement prepares students to work with employers to address workplace health and safety. Students will be directly exposed to people, protocols and technology with a focus on injury and disease prevention in the workplace. Program curriculum prepares students for placement in a variety of occupations including all major employment sectors and within the public sector. Students will apply skills and knowledge to anticipate, evaluate, and control a variety of health risks including chemical, biological, physical, and psycho-social related hazards.

Looking for a program that leads to a rewarding career in accounting, that challenges students to develop valuable critical thinking and analytical skills, and has an option for a simple pathway to a university degree – then the three-year Business Administration – Accounting program is definitely the right fit for you! This program can lead to various pathways to professional accounting credentials that can be beneficial to career development and advancement. Graduates of this program pursue careers as managerial accountants, financial analysts, tax professional, auditors and small business controllers.

Students in this program receive a well-rounded and thorough education in important aspects of business such as human resources, law and marketing in addition to the comprehensive accounting courses taught by Lambton's accounting faculty who bring a wealth of industry experience and all hold the Chartered Professional Accountants designation. There is a focus on developing strong communication, planning, teamwork, and analytical skills while studying accounting theory and practice, financial statement analysis, cost management and control, taxation, and computerized accounting systems.

Experiential Learning Opportunities 
Because practical work experiences are vital, students are given the option to participate in a co-op work experience in term 5. This provides exposure to a business environment and valuable work experience in the accounting field. In the final year of the program students utilize all their knowledge, skills, and abilities gained over the duration of their program in the Entrepreneurship capstone courses. Through a series of culminating reports and presentations, students showcase their knowledge, skills and abilities to corporate partners who provide feedback and enhance this experiential learning opportunity.

The Lambton College Advanced Project Management – Environmental, Ontario College Graduate Certificate prepares graduates for careers in project coordination and management in a variety of industries including environmental science, environmental engineering, urban planning and human geography, sustainability, and building science.

The program aligns itself with the PMI® A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) - Sixth Edition, Project Management Institute, Inc., 2017 and heavily utilizes foundational standards and practice frameworks prescribed by the Project Management Institute (PMI). This guide is currently being revised to PMI® A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) - Seventh Edition, Project Management Institute, Inc., 2021. Faculty are monitoring changes and will incorporate the principles of the new guide as it becomes available.

Students are introduced to the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, controlling, and closing to a wide range of projects that focus on the environment and sustainability. In addition, students expand their business leadership skills through collaborative team projects, and further develop negotiation and communication skills. The use of project management software tools within an environmental context will enable students to meet the challenging demands of these complex fields.

The Welding Techniques Program is a full-time, one-year program which provides students with theoretical and practical aspects of the welding trade. The skills and knowledge gained from this program will help students meet the necessary requirements to obtain placement in either union or non-union jobs. Students perform welding and cutting using shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), oxy-fuel welding and cutting (OFW/OFC), plasma arc cutting (PAC), and carbon arc cutting with air/gouging (CAC-A).

Sourcing straight from the Alberta Individual Learning Modules (ILM), students have an opportunity to challenge the Level I Welder apprenticeship test on location after completion of the program. Students will also be given the opportunity to challenge the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) 'all position plate' welding tickets during the duration of the second term.

It is an exciting time to be a nursing student at Lambton College. Students work in Simulation Labs with both high-tech equipment and simulated patients (actors), providing students with learning experiences that are truly rewarding and unique. Lambton College prepares future nurses so they may enter the health care profession with both required knowledge and hands-on skills to be successful practitioners. Students will experience the importance of smaller class sizes and individual attention by faculty enriching the learning experience. 

Lambton College partners with the University of Windsor to deliver the BScN program. Beginning in the Fall of 2019, the collaboration embarks on a new curriculum designed to meet the evolving needs of the 21st century nursing student and future nurse.
