The Hairstylist program is offered over three consecutive terms, and provides students with a two-year Ontario College Diploma delivered in only 12 months. This pre-apprenticeship program includes 1,500 hours of hairstyling education: 510 hours of hairstyling theory and 990 hours of practice in hair cutting, styling, colouring and lightening, permanent waving, chemical relaxing and hair additions and trends. Students will also have the opportunity to study three general education courses.

A highlight and important aspect of the learning experience is the operation of the Salon & Spa at Lambton, a live practical lab where students practice hairstyling skills and salon business skills in preparation for salon management or ownership. Each week, students welcome clients into the salon and offer a variety of services. The array of services grows throughout the year as students develop their knowledge and mastery of hairstyling skills.

At any point, the student may be eligible to register at an apprenticeship branch of the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development as an apprentice to complete 2,000 hours of in-salon apprenticeship hours. Once both components, in-school and apprenticeship (in-salon) hours have been satisfied, graduates are able to write the provincial Certificate of Qualification Exam for an additional fee. Upon successful completion of this exam they become licensed hairstylists. 

It is an exciting time to be a nursing student at Lambton College. Students work in Simulation Labs with both high-tech equipment and simulated patients (actors), providing students with learning experiences that are truly rewarding and unique. Lambton College prepares future nurses so they may enter the health care profession with both required knowledge and hands-on skills to be successful practitioners. Students will experience the importance of smaller class sizes and individual attention by faculty enriching the learning experience. 

Lambton College partners with the University of Windsor to deliver the BScN program. Beginning in the Fall of 2019, the collaboration embarks on a new curriculum designed to meet the evolving needs of the 21st century nursing student and future nurse. Refrigeration and air conditioning mechanics install, maintain, repair and overhaul residential central air conditioning systems, commercial and industrial refrigeration and air conditioning systems and combined heating, ventilation and cooling systems. The Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician Ontario College Diploma prepares graduates for entry level positions in Electrical, Refrigeration, Sheet Metal or Heating and Air Conditioning Industries. 

Curriculum follows the prescribed TSSA Gas Technician 3 and Gas Technician 2 syllabus, providing an opportunity for external certification. Graduates will also be eligible to write the external Refrigeration Handling Certification - Ozone Depletion Prevention. 

Esports is the term used to describe the emerging global, multi-billion dollar industry of sports competition facilitated by electronic video game systems. In response to the need for highly qualified workers in this field, the Lambton College Esports Management, Ontario College Graduate Certificate is designed to incorporate the competitive gaming world with the business knowledge required by the fast-paced and growing industry of Esports. Designed for college and university graduates, students learn Esports related business skills while developing a strong appreciation of the overall Esports industry. Specifically tailored, hands-on courses include the history of Esports, industry hardware/software, game design and live streaming. In addition, the business models behind team management and tournaments are studied in detail, with the culmination of learning in the practical project course where students integrate the knowledge obtained throughout the program to plan, manage and execute real-world Esports projects.

Graduates of the program are prepared to pursue a variety of career opportunities including team and league Esports marketing, management, promotion and event coordinator positions. Some graduates may also pursue related careers in Esports as a pro-player, coach or a streamer which is defined as an online player people pay to watch.

Enhance your employability skills for a successful career in global business. The Business Management – International Business Ontario Graduate Certificate program is designed to prepare university and college graduates for a rewarding career in international business management. In addition to building management skills, students will develop the competencies to investigate, analyze and manage domestic and international business activities, in order to successfully conduct business on a global scale.

Curriculum emphasizes international sales and marketing, trade, research, supply chain management, law and project management in a Canadian business setting. Activities, projects and case studies are used to simulate a work environment and prepare students with the practical experience to be successful in their careers upon graduation.

The work term that concludes the program provides students with the opportunity to gain valuable work experience that will assist them in finding permanent employment after graduation.

Upon graduation, students will have met the academic requirements for application to the Certified International Trade Professional (CITP) designation and be prepared to write the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFFA) exams.

Co-op students have the opportunity to apply classroom learning to the workplace. Co-op placement opportunities help students gain valuable work experience that may assist them in finding permanent employment after they graduate. Students have access to our Co-op & Career Advisors who provide comprehensive co-op and career development services and resources for co-op students.

The Electrical Power Distribution & Control Technician program is designed to provide graduates with specialized knowledge and skills required to pursue a career in electrical power, distribution systems, protection, and control. Working both in the classroom and in various lab and shop settings, students gain practical, hands-on experience in electrical fundamentals and specific concepts related to power distribution and control.

In addition to learning the fundamentals of electrical techniques, students will study power generation from traditional and emerging renewable energy systems, power distribution, connection to the grid, high voltage and transfer.

With lessons taking place in the classroom and in various lab and shop settings, students gain both theoretical and practical, hands-on experience.

The Occupational Health & Safety Management Ontario College Graduate Certificate program is a multi-disciplinary program that is designed to encompass a broad range of knowledge in occupational health, safety and environmental management systems that are critical to an organizations success. This program provides students with a strong health and safety foundation by developing the competencies required for the effective development, implementation and evaluation of health and safety systems in occupational settings.

Emphasis is placed upon learning the application of legislation and recognizing, controlling and evaluation workplace hazards. This program will enable students to become leaders in health and safety by motivating proactive behavioural change. Students will anticipate and employ strategies to manage emerging health, safety and environmental issues while examining accident theories, emergency response planning, ergonomic principles, risk management principles and the promotion of workplace safety and wellness.

With an ever increasing need for agricultural business employment, the Lambton College Agri-Business Management, Ontario College Graduate Certificate program is designed for students who wish to enter a career in the agricultural sector at the supervisory level, or to manage relationships in an agri-business environment typical of a sales or other agricultural services role.

In this multi-disciplined program, students utilize existing related education or experience to learn and apply a variety of skills to help operate and manage an agricultural business. Students develop a foundation of business skills, including communications, accounting, human resources, relationship managing and marketing strategies that apply to the Canadian agricultural industry of today. With the rapid adoption of agricultural technology, students study the impact of this technology on farm operations, as well as on other applications, from software to farm machinery.

To round out the learning, students study environmental farm management to gain a deeper understanding of the production of food, feed, and fuel as well as livestock physiology and health, pest control management and new and emerging agri-business technology. This hands-on program will include a real-world course on farm machinery to provide a robust understanding on farm equipment operations and safety.

The Lambton College Interprofessional Practice - Gerontology, Ontario College Graduate Certificate focuses on preparing graduates to work interprofessionally to enhance their professional practice to care for aging adults and families who require complex and/or long-term care within institutions or in the home in Canada. In the program, students develop skills in collaborative patient-centred care and inclusive practice.

Program curriculum includes comprehensive patient assessment and team approaches to client and family centric care planning and delivery. Students also study various age-related changes in social, psychological and biological functions to evaluate the implications of these changes on individuals' ability to interact with their social and physical environments and on individuals' care needs.

As a culmination of program learning, students participate in both an interprofessional field placement within a community organization as well as a community project, which includes the completion of an associated capstone project research paper. Program curriculum along with real world experiences prepares graduates for employment in a range of Canadian work settings including senior centres, day and leisure programs, research and education services, retirement homes, long term care homes, group homes and home support services.

Individuals with an educational aspiration for entry into policing, other related law enforcement agencies, or careers in law and justice will find it with the Police Foundations program.

During the first year, a broad theoretical foundation is provided on human relations, mental health, critical interpersonal, communication and team building skills and an overview of the criminal justice system. The second year focuses on courses specific to law enforcement, investigation, police powers and community policing. Students also achieve certification in Non-violent Crisis Intervention training from the Crisis Prevention Institute and Introduction to Incident Management System (IMS 100) from Emergency Management Ontario. The goal of the Police Foundations program is to provide students with a well-rounded education that prepares them for not only a career in law enforcement, but also as a foundation for continual educational pathways into related fields of study.

Our criminal justice lab offers students the opportunity to bridge the gap between theory and practice in an innovative real world setting. By moving beyond theory, students learn by doing and get first-hand experience of practicing what has been taught. Students also gain volunteer hours and field related experience through participation in Lambton College's student run Safe Walk program. Lambton College's faculty is diverse representing the criminal justice system, police, border, security and other related professionals. Specialized courses within the program have an interdisciplinary focus and allow students from various first responder courses to learn together in the classroom and in scenarios. These experiential learning opportunities, coupled with small class sizes, ensures students receive a quality educational experience.
