The Lambton College Sport Business Management, Ontario College Graduate Certificate prepares graduates for careers in the exciting and ever changing sport business sector.

With a Canadian sport industry focus, the curriculum enables graduates to be leaders in management and operations in this exciting industry. The program’s curriculum prepares graduates with knowledge and skills in sport marketing, sales, sport sponsorship, event bidding and planning, facility operations, human resources, finance and administration. Experiential learning is built into the curriculum allowing students to apply skills and knowledge to projects with organizations and clients in the sport industry and expand their business leadership skills through collaborative team projects. Graduates may find employment in a variety of sport business professions.

The Border Services program provides foundational knowledge and experiential hands on-learning to individuals who aspire to work as border services officers.

During the first year, a broad theoretical foundation is provided on human relations, mental health, critical interpersonal, communication and team building skills and an overview of the criminal justice system. The second year focuses on courses specific to determining admissibility of persons, goods and conveyances into Canada, legislation, documentation and technology required to move goods and people across the border. In addition, students will acquire important communication skills, dispute resolution and critical thinking skills required as Canada's first line of defense.

Students also achieve certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training from the Crisis Prevention Institute and Introduction to Incident Management System (IMS-100) from Emergency Management Ontario. The goal of the Border Services program is to provide students with a well-rounded education that prepares them for not only a career in public safety but also as a foundation for continual educational pathways into related fields of study.

Our criminal justice lab offers students the opportunity to bridge the gap between theory and practice in an innovative real world setting. By moving beyond theory, students learn by doing and get first-hand experience of practicing what has been taught. Students also gain volunteer hours and field related experience through participation in Lambton College's student run Safe Walk program. Lambton College's faculty is diverse representing the criminal justice system, police, border, security and other related professionals. Specialized courses within the program have an interdisciplinary focus and allow students from various first responder courses to learn together in the classroom and in scenarios. These experiential learning opportunities, coupled with small class sizes, ensures students receive a quality educational experience.

In manufacturing today, there is a continuous need for employees with highly developed skills in testing, processing, and quality assurance of materials. In addition, employers are looking for management skills to plan, implement and coordinate in manufacturing facilities. Encompassing many areas of science, including material science, chemical and material engineering and chemistry, and combining business management curriculum, the Lambton College Applied Manufacturing Management - Advanced Materials Processing, Ontario College Graduate Certificate program provides students with real-world experiences to learn and apply the knowledge and skills required to study the properties and behaviours of engineering polymeric materials used in a range of manufacturing applications in Ontario, Canada, and abroad.

In the program, students develop skills in applied material science and manufacturing. Additional courses include hands-on introductions to chemical analysis, material characterization, composites, nanocomposites and polymers. In addition, students learn the underlying theoretical principles in materials processing and additive manufacturing. Graduates are technically skilled problem-solvers with well-developed business, ethics, communication and analytical skills that can be applied to future careers in advanced manufacturing technology for a variety of industrial, government or consulting organizations.

Co-op students have the opportunity to apply classroom learning to the workplace. Co-op placement opportunities help students gain valuable work experience that may assist them in finding permanent employment after they graduate. Looking for a program that leads to a rewarding career in accounting, that challenges students to develop valuable critical thinking and analytical skills, and has an option for a simple pathway to a university degree – then the three-year Business Administration – Accounting program is definitely the right fit for you! This program can lead to various pathways to professional accounting credentials that can be beneficial to career development and advancement. Graduates of this program pursue careers as managerial accountants, financial analysts, tax professional, auditors and small business controllers.

Students in this program receive a well-rounded and thorough education in important aspects of business such as human resources, law and marketing in addition to the comprehensive accounting courses taught by Lambton's accounting faculty who bring a wealth of industry experience and all hold the Chartered Professional Accountants designation. There is a focus on developing strong communication, planning, teamwork, and analytical skills while studying accounting theory and practice, financial statement analysis, cost management and control, taxation, and computerized accounting systems.

Experiential Learning Opportunities 
Because practical work experiences are vital, students are given the option to participate in a co-op work experience in term 5. This provides exposure to a business environment and valuable work experience in the accounting field. In the final year of the program students utilize all their knowledge, skills, and abilities gained over the duration of their program in the Entrepreneurship capstone courses. Through a series of culminating reports and presentations, students showcase their knowledge, skills and abilities to corporate partners who provide feedback and enhance this experiential learning opportunity.

Lambton College's Electrical Techniques program utilizes applied learning combined with strong theoretical training to prepare students for a career in the extensive electrical field.

Working both in the classroom and in various lab and shop settings, students gain practical, hands-on experience in electrical fundamentals. In just eight months, students will be able to master the basic skills needed to help compete for employment as an electrical apprentice.

These skills go well beyond the minimum requirements to begin an electrical apprenticeship. After students earn their Electrical Techniques certificate, they can continue their education in related technology programs at Lambton College.

In this multi-disciplined program, students in the Lambton College Facilities and Property Management, Ontario College Graduate Certificate utilize existing related education or experience to learn and apply a variety of skills to help operate, administer and manage facility and property operations. In this program, students study the skills and knowledge associated with facility and property administration, including land use, property evaluation, financing, site administration and maintenance and owner/management relations. Students develop a foundation of business skills, including communications, accounting, human resources, relationship managing and marketing strategies that apply to the property facility and management industries of today.

This program is a true pathway program. Liberal Studies is designed for those who wish to pursue a university education or degree completion. Following completion of the program, and provided that all requirements are met, students will have the opportunity to apply for entry into a university degree.

This program is rooted in a variety of humanities and social science disciplines. An emphasis on developing university-level skills in critical thinking, communication, research, literacy and numeracy prepares students for professional environments which impact society, business and technology.

Graduates of the Liberal Studies program may receive transfer credits toward degrees at Ontario universities. Graduates of this program may apply to Huron, Brescia, King's or Western University for acceptance into the second year of a specified Bachelor's program.

The two-year Business program is the best way for students to begin their business education. Students looking to work in a multi-national corporation, take over a family-run business or become an entrepreneur, will find that this program offers all the important foundational courses.

In the first year, students will be introduced to marketing, human resources, accounting, computer applications, global business principles and ethics. Important studies in business communications and mathematics round out the year. Second year will move into advanced business courses that all business organizations consider essential. Digital tools, organizational behaviour, business intelligence, business law, operations management and economics are just some of these courses.

Students considering entrepreneurship will have the option of undertaking an entrepreneurship project course to research and plan a new business or work on a special project for existing businesses.
To develop you skills, you will also have access to The Cube - Lambton College's entrepreneurship hub - and the ability to participate in Enactus - our award-winning social entrepreneurship team.

The Chemical Laboratory Technician program will produce technically skilled problem solvers. Graduates will be prepared to assume entry-level positions in a variety of industrial, government or consulting organizations. The course of study includes hands on introductions to Laboratory Analyzers, Organic Synthesis and Biochemical and Microbiological techniques as well as an overview of key underlying theoretical principles.
