Lambton College’s Construction Carpentry Techniques program utilizes current technology, modern equipment and has a strong focus on eco-friendly building products and construction materials. Graduates possess significant experience working in the 6,500 sq. ft. shop (located in the Lambton College Skilled Trades Training Centre) as well as in an 1,800 sq. ft. teaching house where students participate in renovation and residential construction scenarios relevant to residential and light commercial construction.

Students may participate in community-based learning projects for non-profit organizations. This hands-on learning, combined with in-class training, will provide students with the skills necessary to enter the residential construction and renovation sector. Framing, layout, roof construction, stairs and foundations will be taught in detail, as well as the fundamentals of calculating construction and labour costs.

The Lambton College Biomaterials & Chemical Laboratory Analysis - Applied Science, Ontario College Graduate Certificate, two-year program provides focused, experiential education to meet the demands of the energy, advanced materials, cannabis and other natural health product industries. 

In this program, students study advanced concepts in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, physics and mathematics applied to chemical analysis and complex problem solving in a hands-on laboratory environment.

Students conduct tests and develop solutions to problems in analyses of raw materials, products, or environmental samples, synthesize organic or inorganic compounds and prepare reports and technical documentation related to chemical analyses. Within the laboratory environment, graduates implement, coordinate and evaluate quality assurance and quality control procedures, in accordance with international and industry standards and government regulations. The program prepares students to analyze natural products, energy and advanced materials for quality and contribute to research and development.

A Pharmacy Technician is a licensed healthcare professional within the health care team. This program offers low student-teacher ratios with experts who continue to work in the field. Pharmacy Technician students gain the knowledge, skills and professionalism required for success in retail, hospital, long-term care and specialty settings. Students learn about relevant legislation, health care ethics, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, customer care, hospital and retail software systems, calculations, inventory management, hospital practice, and infection control.

Traditional in-class instruction is coupled with blended learning and then enhanced through teamwork, role playing activities, guest speakers and innovative lessons. A fully equipped community/hospital lab provides students with hands-on experience dispensing medications, compounding pharmaceutical products and developing aseptic techniques.

During Term 4, students travel outside of Lambton College as part of a capstone assignment for PHR-4022. This trip includes presentations, tours, networking and opportunities to see other areas in which a pharmacy technician can work. Additional costs may be required. 

Students will complete two unpaid four-week field placements under the supervision of a pharmacist/technician during term four: one in a community pharmacy and one in a hospital pharmacy setting. These experiential learning placements are arranged by the program coordinator and take place March through June. Travel and additional costs may be required. 

Upon graduation students are eligible to write national and provincial licensing exams.

The three-year Business Administration program prepares graduates for a world of business and educational opportunities combining theoretical knowledge with practical application. This program has been developed specifically for students to personalize their program of study to suit their abilities and interested and put them on the best possible path for employment. During the first year, students will participate in an active learning environment and be exposed to a curriculum that builds a solid knowledge base of the major areas of business. This lays a foundation for the areas of concentration and for the development of teamwork, leadership, and research skills.

Experiential Learning Opportunities
Because practical work experiences are vital, students are given the option to participate in a co-op work experience in term 5. This provides exposure to a business environment and could provide valuable work experience. In the final year of the program, students will take the entrepreneurship capstone courses which combine assessments and curriculum to challenge the students to utilize all of their knowledge, skills and abilities gained over the course of their program, in a series of culminating reports and presentations that showcase a capstone project. Real world corporate partners are engaged to provide students with even greater experiential learning opportunities.

As the health care system in Canada evolves, the demand for Personal Support workers is increasing in long term care facilities, retirement homes, home care settings and hospitals. 

The Personal Support Worker program prepares graduates to provide care and assistance to clients of any age who have defined health care needs including help with their activities of daily living. Through theory classes and experiential learning opportunities, including simulation and clinical placements, the student will learn to make a difference in clients' lives by alleviating loneliness, providing empathy, ensuring comfort, encouraging independence, and promoting self-respect in all health care settings. 

As part of the program, students will also complete The Fundamental of Hospice Palliative Care Certificate and the Gentle Persuasive Approaches Certificate. 

With ever-increasing numbers of aging people requiring assistance to continue a full life and with changes to the way health care services are delivered, the need has never been greater for Occupational Therapist Assistants and Physiotherapist Assistants.

The Lambton College Occupational Therapist & Physiotherapist Assistant, Ontario College Diploma program will train students to help people of all ages as they strive to recover and regain functional independence from injury, trauma, surgery, or chronic health conditions or illnesses such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, arthritis and mental illness. Students learn how to assist in implementing treatment plans that promote a client's independence in activities that are important to them.

This new and exciting program is being offered in the newly opened NOVA Chemicals Health & Research Centre. The unique program curriculum will engage students throughout a four-term program, as students learn how to assist clients to achieve their health goals. Students develop the ability to work with both professions as they focus their studies on occupational therapy and physical therapy education. The integration of in-class studies with hands-on experience is accomplished through rich experiential lab opportunities and practice in a variety of clinical fieldwork placement settings.

As with many other health-related fields, this program is suitable for compassionate, empathetic students who possess a concern for the well-being of others.

This program is a true pathway program. Liberal Studies is designed for those who wish to pursue a university education or degree completion. Following completion of the program, and provided that all requirements are met, students will have the opportunity to apply for entry into a university degree.

This program is rooted in a variety of humanities and social science disciplines. An emphasis on developing university-level skills in critical thinking, communication, research, literacy and numeracy prepares students for professional environments which impact society, business and technology.

Graduates of the Liberal Studies program may receive transfer credits toward degrees at Ontario universities. Graduates of this program may apply to Huron, Brescia, King's or Western University for acceptance into the second year of a specified Bachelor's program.

The Advanced Health Care Leadership Ontario College Graduate Certificate program prepares graduates for emerging leadership roles within health care settings.

Students will be able to integrate patient and family care theories into current practices which are responsive for a variety of cultures, behaviours, situations and environments. Core concepts of leadership, quality and improvements to patient safety are explored to achieve enhanced patient outcomes. Students will apply professional leadership concepts as a member of a multi-disciplinary health care team in an organization.

It is an exciting time to be a nursing student at Lambton College. Students work in Simulation Labs with both high-tech equipment and simulated patients (actors), providing students with learning experiences that are truly rewarding and unique. Lambton College prepares future nurses so they may enter the health care profession with both required knowledge and hands-on skills to be successful practitioners. Students will experience the importance of smaller class sizes and individual attention by faculty enriching the learning experience.

Beginning in the Fall of 2019, the collaboration embarks on a new curriculum designed to meet the evolving needs of the 21st century nursing student and future nurse.
