In modern pharmacy practice, the pharmacy technician’s role is essential to meeting the ever-increasing demands for health care efficiency and improved patient experience. Today, pharmacy technicians are entrusted with assisting in preparing medications, collecting medical histories, and educating patients – all of which allow the pharmacist more time to focus on patient care.

Since 1987, the MITT Pharmacy Technician Program has prepared students to work collaboratively and competently with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals in a variety of pharmacy practice settings.

The diploma program curriculum – designed by specialized pharmacy experts to reflect the current scope of practice, as well as emerging health care trends and technologies – focuses on the core competencies of everyday pharmacy technician practice. It also aligns with the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP) Accreditation Standards for Canadian Pharmacy Technician Programs. Through innovative curriculum and high-impact simulated learning experiences, students are prepared for career success in today’s ever-changing pharmacy environment.

PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be able to:

• Identify and implement sector-specific knowledge to day-to-day medication preparation and dispensing;
• Apply knowledge and research-based information while collaborating in the provision of safe, effective, and high-quality patient care;

Strong math skills are an absolute must for pharmacy technicians, which is why this program emphasizes a zero tolerance for math errors. An essential part of the job involves performing calculations to determine dosages and quantities to prepare and dispense medications. Apprenticeship Manitoba Level 1 accreditation means students who successfully complete the program and accreditation requirements receive credit toward their apprenticeship path. And participation in MITT’s Work Skills Series workshops ensures you enter the workforce with a strong foundation in the employability and essential skills employers demand.

The Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology (MITT) and the Forum for International Trade Training (FITT), a center of excellence for trade accreditation, have partnered and are now providing the Post Graduate Certificate in International Business (PGIB)  which will prepare up and coming trade practitioners for a successful career in International Business. This one year, multi-credentialed program explores the strategies needed to establish an enduring global presence.

MITT's Post Graduate Certificate in International Business prepares students for a successful career by broadening their knowledge, skills, and appreciation of the customs and practices that affect business activities when dealing with other countries. Students will be exposed to a wealth of topics related to international business, confront some of the dynamic issues and challenges of international business, and master strategies to establish an enduring global presence. This program is offered in partnership with the Forum for International Trade Training (FITT), global business experts established by industry and government.

Organizations of various size and structure require teams of cyber and network security experts to protect all manner of business or personal data from daily barrages of cyber attacks. Students in MITT’s CDCA diploma program train for these vital roles, gaining specialized and in-demand knowledge and skills through hands-on learning with industry standard hardware and software so they can:

Perform IT network analysis. Identify anomalous activity and potential threats to resources. Design and implement appropriate courses of actions using industry standard computer network defence tools. Perform virtualization and secure integration of cloud services into existing IT infrastructures.

CDCA students are concurrently enrolled in the Cisco Networking Academy and completed credits can be used as prerequisites for further Cisco training. The program is a Check Point Secure Academy, a member of the VMWare IT Academic Program, and a CompTIA Associate.

An eight-week practicum opportunity, combined with MITT’s Work Skills Series workshops, provide students real-world experience, and a strong foundation in employability and essential skills, to help them transition seamlessly from classroom to career.

The Medical Office Assistant program gives students the knowledge and skills necessary to provide administrative support to medical professionals in hospitals, physicians and specialists’ offices, as well as any health authority in the province.

Working with industry veteran instructors in a small class setting, you will develop competence and confidence in medical documentation and terminology, clinical office procedures, billing, scheduling, business skills, computer applications, and medical software so that you can efficiently manage the demands of the front desk in any medical facility. A six-week work practicum placement will give you an opportunity to practice and refine your skills in real-world situations and your participation in MITT’s Work Skills Series workshops will provide you a foundation of employability and essential skills that today’s employer demands.

Strong English communication skills, computer proficiency, and keyboarding speed are essential to your success in this program. You will need these skills to perform patient billing, manage electronic records, transcribe medical orders, and prepare medical reports and correspondence. Emerit training, which was developed and tested by tourism sector employees, employers, and educators from across Canada, ensures students meet internationally recognized standards of their profession; a work practicum allows you to test and refine your skills in a real workplace; and your participation in MITT’s Work Skills Series workshops ensures you bring a solid foundation of employability and essential skills to any career you pursue.

This intensive, two-year diploma is tailored to hospitality services professionals looking to take their next career step as supervisors or managers and provides a practical approach to business training rooted in leadership theory, hands-on training, and professional work exposure.

Explore a curriculum built directly with industry to meet their needs and deepen your knowledge in a variety of topics including: tourism, food and beverage management, the guest experience, hotel operations, marketing and digital media, and live hospitality and event planning.

Complement your in-class knowledge with the real-world experiences and a solid foundation in employability and essential skills through a pair of work practicum rotations and participation in MITT’s Work Skills Series workshops.

The new Client Service Specialist Certificate (CSSC) is a distinctive program MITT has developed in partnership with the Manitoba Tourism Education Council (MTEC). Although students will receive the MITT credential upon successful completion, the nine months of occupational specific, career development and technical courses are delivered by MTEC in a classroom located in MTEC’s facility (Unit 3 -75 Scurfield Blvd). At the end of the program, MTEC will connect students with their numerous employer contacts for a one-month, unpaid work practicum.

Upon graduation, students will receive a MITT certificate and will be equipped with the transferable skills required for front-line employment in multiple industry-sectors. Students will also have the opportunity to receive the following industry recognized certificates in various courses and workshops throughout the CSSC program:

• Microsoft Office Specialist Certificate
• Emergency First Aid Level C and Level 1 AED
• Winnipeg Ambassador
• Handling Difficult Situations
• WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials and Information Systems)

This program held at MTEC’s facility also includes:

• 3.5 hours of class time per day (Monday-Friday) for non-work practicum courses
• Industry experienced instructors
• Field trips and guest speakers
• Free parking
• Complimentary coffee, tea, water (daily basis)

Work practicum

• Qualifying students apply skills learned in the classroom and develop new skills, during a full-time, four-week work practicum with a local business/employer that has been arranged by the Manitoba Tourism Education Council.

MITT’s Motosport Technician certificate program teaches students how to use the tools and equipment required for modern marine and outdoor power equipment maintenance and repair and helps them build a foundation of knowledge about vehicle systems including:

Tune-up and diagnostics
Advanced technologies such as fuel injection and anti-lock brake systems.

Eligible students can apply the skills they learn in class to real-world situations during a four-week work practicum with an industry employer and their participation in MITT’s Work Skills Series workshops will ensure they bring the employability and essential skills employers demand, to the workplace. Graduates who meet specific criteria can earn credit toward Apprenticeship Manitoba Level 1. 

Work Practicum:-
The Motosport Technician program may feature a Work Practicum placement in a local workplace which provides students with on-the-job training and experience. Students will apply skills learned in the classroom and develop new skills through working within an actual employer’s facility.

The diverse curriculum in this intensive, 10-month program covers administrative procedures to MS Office tools to cloud accounting and prepares students for a wide range of positions in office administration. Hands-on exercises and projects, MITT's Work Skills Series workshops, and the possibility of a six-week work practicum, help students seamlessly transition into careers upon graduation.
