The Medical Office Assistant program gives students the knowledge and skills necessary to provide administrative support to medical professionals in hospitals, physicians and specialists’ offices, as well as any health authority in the province.

Working with industry veteran instructors in a small class setting, you will develop competence and confidence in medical documentation and terminology, clinical office procedures, billing, scheduling, business skills, computer applications, and medical software so that you can efficiently manage the demands of the front desk in any medical facility. A six-week work practicum placement will give you an opportunity to practice and refine your skills in real-world situations and your participation in MITT’s Work Skills Series workshops will provide you a foundation of employability and essential skills that today’s employer demands.

Strong English communication skills, computer proficiency, and keyboarding speed are essential to your success in this program. You will need these skills to perform patient billing, manage electronic records, transcribe medical orders, and prepare medical reports and correspondence. Theory and comprehensive hands-on projects ensure Electrical Applications students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to install, operate, troubleshoot, service and repair electrical equipment in residential, commercial and industrial settings. Motors, generators, transformers, electrical systems, and a wide variety of control equipment are among the many topics covered during the program, and graduates who meet specific criteria can earn credit toward Apprenticeship Manitoba Level 1 and 2.

Participation in MITT’s Work Skills Series workshops provides students a foundation in employability and essential skills to help them transition seamlessly from classroom to career and excel as professionals.

The diverse curriculum in this intensive, 10-month program covers administrative procedures to MS Office tools to cloud accounting and prepares students for a wide range of positions in office administration. Hands-on exercises and projects, MITT's Work Skills Series workshops, and the possibility of a six-week work practicum, help students seamlessly transition into careers upon graduation.

The Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology (MITT) and the Forum for International Trade Training (FITT), a center of excellence for trade accreditation, have partnered and are now providing the Post Graduate Certificate in International Business (PGIB)  which will prepare up and coming trade practitioners for a successful career in International Business. This one year, multi-credentialed program explores the strategies needed to establish an enduring global presence.

MITT's Post Graduate Certificate in International Business prepares students for a successful career by broadening their knowledge, skills, and appreciation of the customs and practices that affect business activities when dealing with other countries. Students will be exposed to a wealth of topics related to international business, confront some of the dynamic issues and challenges of international business, and master strategies to establish an enduring global presence. This program is offered in partnership with the Forum for International Trade Training (FITT), global business experts established by industry and government.

The Software Developer graduate acquires the basic knowledge, skills, and abilities to qualify for career opportunities as a Junior Full-Stack Software Developer. Students complete practical, hands-on projects that emphasize quantitative reasoning, analysis and problem solving, technical writing and communications, and disciplined development of modern front-end and back-end software systems. Students should expect to work collaboratively on project-based assignments.

The program includes an eight-week work practicum and participation in MITT’s Work Skills Series workshops which provides students a solid foundation in the employability and essential skills employers demand. Graduates are provided access to the GitHub platform where they can further develop their professional presence.

The Automotive Service Technician program will have its first intake in Fall 2021. This program is an updated version of the Auto Mechanics program, which has undergone curriculum and structural changes to better align with industry needs.

Hands-on learning in a shop environment, classroom theory, MITT's Work Skills Series workshops, and the opportunity to complete an eight-week work practicum combine to equip Automotive Service Technician students with career-ready fundamentals in automotive repair, basic diagnostics, and troubleshooting in just eight months. Graduates who meet specific criteria can earn credit toward Apprenticeship Manitoba Level 1.

Sales and Event Coordinator (SEC) is a new and innovative program MITT has developed in partnership with the Manitoba Tourism Education College (MTEC). The successful and long standing cross institutional partnership with the college and sector council benefits students in all areas of training and employment. Although students will receive the MITT credential upon successful completion, the 10 months of occupational specific, career development and technical courses are delivered by MTEC. MTEC's facility is located close to MITT, on Scurfield Blvd. At the end of the program, MTEC will connect eligible students with one of their numerous industry contacts to practice their skills in a 120 hour work practicum.

Upon successful completion, students will receive a MITT certificate and will have the confidence needed to excel in a fast paced and dynamic environment while building relationships with industry and customers.

There is no rest for the machinery and industrial equipment found in modern industry so the industrial mechanic/millwright must diagnose problems and create solutions to keep things running smoothly.
It’s an exciting challenge that might find you milling custom parts or inventing your own tool along the way to get the job done.

Through a mix of theory and hands-on learning, students in MITT’s Industrial Mechanic/Millwright program develop a variety of machine shop skills—including operation of cut-off saws, drill presses, lathes, and milling machines—learn how to read blueprints, and use precision measuring and layout instruments.

Eligible students may participate in a three-week work practicum where they can practice their skills and get on-the-job guidance from a veteran industrial mechanic/millwright. And participation in MITT’s Work Skills Series workshops ensures every graduate transitions from classroom to career with a strong foundation in the employability and essential skills employers demand. Graduates who meet specific criteria can earn credit toward Apprenticeship Manitoba Level 1.

Students who desire careers as Early Childhood Educator IIs (ECE IIs) will acquire the knowledge and skills required to work with children, aged newborn to 12 years old, through this provincially accredited* and comprehensive diploma program.

Working closely with instructors, and in groups, students develop their understanding of child development, guiding techniques, and play-based curriculum, including art, music, literature and science, while learning to create and implement meaningful, age-appropriate, culturally diverse and inclusive programming for children.

Work practicum opportunities throughout the program allow students to apply these lessons in various childcare settings (pre-schools, nursery schools, Headstart programs, as well as other child and family resource facilities) and master their skills working with children. And MITT’s Work Skills Series workshops provide students a strong foundation in employability and essential skills to help them transition seamlessly from classroom to career.

*This program is provisionally accredited by the Child Care Qualifications and Training Committee (CCQTC) as meeting the qualifications for Early Childhood Educator Level II designation.

In modern pharmacy practice, the pharmacy technician’s role is essential to meeting the ever-increasing demands for health care efficiency and improved patient experience. Today, pharmacy technicians are entrusted with assisting in preparing medications, collecting medical histories, and educating patients – all of which allow the pharmacist more time to focus on patient care.

Since 1987, the MITT Pharmacy Technician Program has prepared students to work collaboratively and competently with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals in a variety of pharmacy practice settings.

The diploma program curriculum – designed by specialized pharmacy experts to reflect the current scope of practice, as well as emerging health care trends and technologies – focuses on the core competencies of everyday pharmacy technician practice. It also aligns with the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP) Accreditation Standards for Canadian Pharmacy Technician Programs. Through innovative curriculum and high-impact simulated learning experiences, students are prepared for career success in today’s ever-changing pharmacy environment.
