Students sharpen their knowledge and skills through theory, practice, and the real-world experiences they gain through work practicum rotations and position themselves for multiple paths to employment in health care upon graduation. And participation in MITT’s Work Skills Series workshops ensure graduates enter the workforce with a strong foundation of employability and essential skills.

Emerit training, which was developed and tested by tourism sector employees, employers, and educators from across Canada, ensures students meet internationally recognized standards of their profession; a work practicum allows you to test and refine your skills in a real workplace; and your participation in MITT’s Work Skills Series workshops ensures you bring a solid foundation of employability and essential skills to any career you pursue.

Classroom theory and demonstrations are routinely practiced in the production kitchen as Culinary Arts and Design students prepare food for MITT’s three campus cafeterias under the guidance of veteran chef instructors. These hands-on skills are further reinforced during end-of-school-year work practicum. Effective customer service, as well as employability and essential skills acquired through MITT’s Work Skills Series workshops, ensure graduates are well-rounded in all facets of food preparation and production.

Students who desire careers as Early Childhood Educator IIs (ECE IIs) will acquire the knowledge and skills required to work with children, aged newborn to 12 years old, through this provincially accredited* and comprehensive diploma program.

Working closely with instructors, and in groups, students develop their understanding of child development, guiding techniques, and play-based curriculum, including art, music, literature and science, while learning to create and implement meaningful, age-appropriate, culturally diverse and inclusive programming for children.

Work practicum opportunities throughout the program allow students to apply these lessons in various childcare settings (pre-schools, nursery schools, Headstart programs, as well as other child and family resource facilities) and master their skills working with children. And MITT’s Work Skills Series workshops provide students a strong foundation in employability and essential skills to help them transition seamlessly from classroom to career.

*This program is provisionally accredited by the Child Care Qualifications and Training Committee (CCQTC) as meeting the qualifications for Early Childhood Educator Level II designation.

This intensive, two-year diploma is tailored to hospitality services professionals looking to take their next career step as supervisors or managers and provides a practical approach to business training rooted in leadership theory, hands-on training, and professional work exposure.

Explore a curriculum built directly with industry to meet their needs and deepen your knowledge in a variety of topics including: tourism, food and beverage management, the guest experience, hotel operations, marketing and digital media, and live hospitality and event planning.

Complement your in-class knowledge with the real-world experiences and a solid foundation in employability and essential skills through a pair of work practicum rotations and participation in MITT’s Work Skills Series workshops.

Develop knowledge and skills across the spectrum of design, pre-press, printing, and post-press finishing in the Graphic and Print Technician program—the only program of its kind in Manitoba to teach flexographic printing and feature an onsite large Heidelberg press.

The combination of classroom theory, hands-on training in various techniques (including vehicle wraps), applied learning through a work practicum placement, and the foundation of employability and essential skills you gain from MITT’s Work Skills Series workshops ensure you graduate career-ready for a variety of opportunities in Manitoba’s robust printing industry.

Students in the NSA program develop comprehensive skills in network infrastructure support using Cisco Systems and Microsoft products to create a secure enterprise network. Hands-on work in advanced labs outfitted with industry-grade hardware and software teaches students routing, switching, as well as firewall and server technologies to deploy a reliable and redundant network that also supports remote access and wide area interconnectivity.

NSA students are concurrently enrolled in the Cisco Networking Academy and completed credits can be used as prerequisites for further Cisco training. The program is a member of the VMWare IT Academic Program and is a CompTIA Associate.

Students in the NSA program are prepared to write the certification exams for Microsoft MCSE and MCSA, Cisco CCENT, CompTIA A+, Server+, Network+, and Linux LPI. The cost of certification exams is not included in tuition, but students are eligible for discount vouchers.

The Software Developer graduate acquires the basic knowledge, skills, and abilities to qualify for career opportunities as a Junior Full-Stack Software Developer. Students complete practical, hands-on projects that emphasize quantitative reasoning, analysis and problem solving, technical writing and communications, and disciplined development of modern front-end and back-end software systems. Students should expect to work collaboratively on project-based assignments.

The program includes an eight-week work practicum and participation in MITT’s Work Skills Series workshops which provides students a solid foundation in the employability and essential skills employers demand. Graduates are provided access to the GitHub platform where they can further develop their professional presence.

The Rehabilitation Assistant program provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide safe and competent rehabilitative care to clients and their families. Rehabilitation assistants perform their duties under the supervision of a speech-language pathologist, occupational therapist and/or physical therapist.

Program curriculum includes a variety of frequently encountered rehabilitation simulations to help students develop effective communication and client safety. Two, preceptor-led work practicum rotations (six weeks in duration each) put students in real-world experiences where they can practice and improve their skills. Participation in MITT’s Work Skills Series workshops provides students a solid foundation in the employability and essential skills employers demand.

This program will provide you the opportunity to develop your critical thinking and communication skills by focusing on essential knowledge of topics like ethics, project management and conflict resolution. As a graduate of this program, you will be well positioned to leverage your previous experience and newly acquired competencies into leadership and management positions in a wide variety of sectors and organizations.

Leaders and managers are instrumental to the success of any organization. Although a leader can manage and a manager can lead, leadership and management are not synonymous activities. This one-year program allows students to explore the dynamics and differences of leadership and management. 

Students will be provided with an opportunity to develop their critical thinking skills by focusing on knowledge that is critical to successful leadership and management. Graduates of this program will be well-positioned to leverage their newly acquired knowledge and skills for leadership and management positions in a wide variety of sectors and organizations.
