The purpose of Recreation Therapy is to enable all individuals to achieve quality of life, and optimal health through meaningful experiences in recreation and leisure. Recreation Therapy is a profession which provides service to, and advocates for individuals with physical, mental, social, behavioural or emotional limitations in a variety of settings such as hospitals, long-term care settings, day programs, community-based programs, and mental health centres. The Mechanical Technician – Elevating Devices diploma program covers all three levels of in-class apprenticeship curriculum for students who may be looking to complete their apprenticeship. The diploma program focuses primarily on:

• Installation, maintenance and servicing elevating devices
• Regulatory and industry best practices
• Build an understanding of elevating device electrical, mechanical and hydraulics systems
• Graduates of this integrated technician-apprenticeship program are exempt with the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development, from all three levels of the in-school training portion of the Elevating Devices Mechanic apprenticeship program (636E).  
• Blended theory classes that are face-to-face and on-line.
