Elevate your reading, writing, listening and speaking in English to a higher academic level in as little as 7 weeks depending on your skill level. English for Academic Purposes (EAP) at Mohawk is a series of 8 levels of 7-week courses designed to develop students’ language skills from pre-beginner to college level English. Each level is 21 hours in length. The continuous intake program accommodates students arriving at different times throughout the year and is also for those who wish only a short-term academic language experience. At the higher levels of EAP, students have the opportunity to earn two post-secondary credits toward their diploma program.       • Produce a simple roadway geometric design task
      • Evaluate transit planning decisions in relation to bus stops and network design
  • After four semesters, and experience from the first work term, a student will be able to do more extensive assignments (Usually in time for a Fall co-op):
    • Analysis of information such as:
      • Capacity of interrupted flow facilities using leading industry software (Synchro and PTV Vistro)
      • Design pedestrian and cycling facilities to local guidelines (e.g. The Ontario Traffic Manual and the Transportation Association of Canada Geometric Design Guide for Canadian Roads)
      • Interpret the Ontario Planning Act as related to transportation engineering technology
      • Produce a roadway geometric design in computer-aided drafting software (both AutoCAD and Civil3D)
      • Understand the basics of construction management for a simple project
      • Prepare minor reports presenting a problem, alternative solutions, and recommended course action
  • After five semesters, a student will have enough knowledge and skill for the following (Usually in time for a Summer co-op):
    • Make a functional design of an intersection and a roundabout
    • Perform advanced spreadsheet functions, including the use of macros
