Overview

• Designed for Secondary School graduates who have not completed the science or math requirements for technician/technology diploma programs. This program prepares students to be successful in subsequent technical programs. This unique program allows students to complete core courses from the first and second semesters of a variety of Engineering Technology diploma programs while enhancing their math, science, computer and communication skills. This program is ideally suited for students who have not completed the Grade 12 courses as required for admission to many diploma programs.

Mohawk’s Chemical Engineering Technology program prepares students for the workplace. Graduates have the theoretical and practical skills required to work in laboratories, chemical manufacturing plants, agriculture, refineries, pharmaceutical plants, food and beverage industries, municipal water and wastewater facilities.

Support clients with brain disorders across the lifespan through the use of intervention strategies, research, or policy development.

What you'll learn

• Learn about the neuroscience of conditions across the lifespan as well as treatments that support cognitive and physical rehabilitation.
• Engage in simulation exercises that build awareness and empathy.

Explore opportunities in the service and maintenance of gas, propane and oil-fired technology.

Program Highlights

• Accredited by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA).
• Complete your training in one year.  
• Upon successful completion of each semester, you are eligible to write the Gas and Oil Burner Technician Provincial Fuel Certifications. You may write the examinations without acquiring additional workplace experience.

What you'll learn

• Fundamentals of home heating appliances that use fuel oil or natural gas.
• Experience the challenges in the service and maintenance of gas, propane, oil fired burners, furnaces, boilers and hot water heaters.
• Understand fuel delivery systems, set up and adjust combustion efficiencies, size ventilation systems and combustion air requirements. 
• Enjoy a practical lab to experience troubleshooting, combustion, electrical, fabricating piping systems and other related aspects.  
• The first semester prepares participants for testing and certification by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority as an Oil Burner Technician 3 (OBT 3) and a Gas Technician 3 (G3); providing eligibility on successful completion to write the Oil Burner Technician 2 (OBT 2) and Gas Technician 2 (G2) examination in the later part of the second semester. 
• Optional training includes fluorocarbon refrigerant, Ozone Layer Protection Awareness Certification, Gastite and IPEX certification training.
