Overview

The UTP Stage II: Science pathway is a student’s first step into realizing their dreams of transforming the world through scientific research, using interactive, theoretical and practical approaches to improving society. In UTP Stage II: Science students choose to focus in one of four different areas: mathematics and data science, experimental science, life science, or general science. These four main areas span eight departments with the opportunity to engage in interdisciplinary studies not only within the Faculty of Science but also across all SFU faculties.

*Students in intended pathways will not be admitted directly to the program. Instead, eligible students will be admitted to the Faculty of Science with an intended major and must then apply for approval (i.e. internal transfer) to these programs once at SFU.

Students who wish to work in Canada require a work permit to do so. A student in Canada can work part-time during the course of his studies and full-time during holidays and semester breaks and post the completion of their course/program.

  • Graduation Proof

Till a decision is made on your work visa, you can continue to work full time. All you need to have is your completed degree, should have applied for the permit before the expiry of your study permit and you should be allowed to work off-campus.

When Should I Apply?

Ideally, one should apply for the study permit at least 4 to 6 months before the commencement of your course/program.

The courses provide introduction to three Schools housed within the Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology, providing the foundation for a Bachelor of Arts degree with a Double Minor specialization.

UTP Stage II: Environment provides first-year courses and the foundation for progression to the second year of SFU's Faculty of Environment. With growing awareness of Environmental issues around the World, a degree from the Faculty of the Environment will provide multiple career options in Canada and around the World.

UTP Stage II: Engineering Science

UTP Stage II: Engineering Science provides first-year courses and the foundation for progression to the second year of SFU's School of Engineering Science degrees. Students enrolled in an Engineering Science degree program at SFU complete three terms of full-time paid work experience during their degree.
