Accounting basics are central to good business. With this program, you’ll learn intermediate accounting knowledge to assist your clients, such as how to prepare and present financial statements and skills in marketing, payroll, computing, and accounts receivable and payable. Our program also includes a work practicum where you’ll have the opportunity to put your knowledge into action while networking with influential people. Welding and Metal Fabrication each contain unique areas of expertise. This program provides you with a foundational knowledge of both trades. You’ll learn how to read blueprints and plan and implement welding and fabrication processes. This includes the cutting and layout through to fitting and fabrication, as well as common welding processes such as shielded metal arc, flux cored arc, and gas metal arc. Our program pairs in-depth coursework with hands-on welding and fabricating experience in order to get you job-ready.

Early Childhood Educators are focused on developing holistic education programs. You'll learn to design and facilitate children’s activities while encouraging interpersonal behaviour and inclusivity. Early Childhood Education is about helping children learn through play, but it's also about embodying effective communication skills, friendliness, sensitivity, and other compassionate qualities. Plumbers see each water distribution and drainage system as an interesting challenge. They use hand and power tools to fix plumbing fixtures and install water systems. You’ll learn about hot water facilities and sewage systems, as well as how to assemble, install and repair pipes, fixtures and fittings. After learning how to interpret basic blueprints, you’ll have the necessary skills to layout a complete plumbing system according to specific building codes. Employment in plumbing is stable in every economic market and competent plumbers find work fast.

The Educational Support program prepares learners for a career in educational settings supporting students with learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, sensory or physical disabilities and behavioural challenges. This program will prepare learners to be part of a multidisciplinary team that supports students with diverse learning needs while maintaining a safe and inclusive environment that promotes students’ well-being.

Within this two-year diploma program, learners also participate in experiential and applied learning opportunities that allow further integration of theory and application.

Structural experts plan with durability in mind. They assist in the design and construction of building systems and perform site inspections and testing. You’ll learn about steel, timber and reinforced concrete design, soils and materials testing, and quantity surveying. Our two-year program and industry work experience also provides general communication and mathematics skills for making your mark on the business world. Sheet Metal workers are vital to the heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) industry. Workers in this field will learn to fabricate ductwork and install air distribution systems. You will learn how to use portable power tools, metal fabrication equipment, and welding and cutting equipment. The importance of indoor air quality (IAQ) and its implications for health, energy efficiency, and comfort ensures that skilled sheet metals workers will continue to be in demand.

Human Services workers specialize in community enrichment. They work in diverse settings to improve the success, safety, and health of people with a variety of challenges. You’ll learn about human development, communications, social roles, lifestyle planning, psychology, family support, and program planning. Rewarding work awaits human services workers.

Financial Managers are trusted decision-makers. They research and analyze companies and effectively communicate with clients. You’ll learn about risk and return, portfolio evaluation, securities terminology, market operations, financial planning, the psychology of investing, insurance basics, and sales techniques. The Business Administration: Financial Management program will prepare you to write the Canadian Securities Course Examination or the Canadian Investment Funds Exam. Graduates of the two-year Business Administration program who have achieved a minimum of a 70% average each program year may be able to transfer into the third year of a four-year degree program at Cape Breton University (CBU) or the University of New Brunswick Saint John (UNBSJ).
