You will learn the uses and limitations of accounting information through case studies, simulation, and hands-on learning experiences. You will gain an understanding of many topics, including auditing, information systems auditing, taxation, consolidation, not-for-profit accounting, hedges, and foreign exchange within your advanced accounting courses. You will participate in tax clinics, where accounting students prepare tax returns for low-income households and perform “mock audits” on local not-for-profit organizations. You will have help preparing for the CPA professional examinations. The Liberal Science program is general in nature and will expose you to a range of scientific disciplines, and provide a broad-based understanding of science. You will study the basic concepts and approaches of modern science and consider its role in society today.

The environment and Sustainability program bridges scientific concerns about natural resources with policy development and management.

We depend on the environment for many aspects of our daily lives, including food, employment, recreation, and natural resources for homes, transportation and consumer goods.  Future generations will have a similar dependence on the environment as we do now; it is our responsibility to ensure that the way we use resources now does not impact access to those same resources by future generations.

At Nipissing you have the option to focus on one of our four streams: Policing, Corrections, Criminology or Criminal Justice Studies. Our flexible program is designed to give you a balanced combination of theory and practice. Through field placements, projects, and research, you will have opportunities to work alongside real criminal justice professionals.

If you choose to pursue the Corrections stream, you will earn a college diploma from Canadore College and a university degree from Nipissing University in just four years. At Canadore College you will study psychology, community re-integration, programming, and interviewing, and you will also complete a field placement. As a Corrections stream student, you will gain skills and knowledge in areas like administration, group dynamics, and counselling.

This degree program examines political topics that range from the foundations of international relations and foreign policy to Canadian politics.
