Native Studies offers you an opportunity to learn about Native cultures, philosophies, literature, histories, and contemporary issues that are central to this land that we live in. Our program welcomes both Native and non-Native students in an inclusive, side-by-side learning environment. Post-baccalaureate diploma will be of interest to students who have a non-business degree, and who want to return to university for one or two years to acquire a specialty in a functional area of business in order to enhance their employment opportunities. Students with a first degree in business, but who want to change their area of focus, may complete a post-baccalaureate diploma as well.

Post-baccalaureate diplomas are also valuable to international students who wish to come to Canada to learn English, gain exposure to the culture, and study in a compressed format. Many who do so have already studied business in their own country and have received transfer credit that reduces the length of the program.
 
Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in International Business Management will help you get there. Specifically, you’ll learn about importing and exporting, market research to develop market entry strategies, supply chain management, managing in international environments, legal and financial aspects of international trade business.

In order to graduate with the Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in International Business, students must obtain a minimum overall average of 60% on all courses presented for the diploma.  A minimum of 30 credits must be taken with Nipissing University to satisfy residency requirements.

The Master of Science in Kinesiology (MSc) is a thesis-based degree program that offers students an opportunity to train in a world-class facility with state-of-the-art equipment and leading faculty researchers.

Areas of study can include topics broadly related to the natural health and physical sciences, such as biomechanics and ergonomics, exercise and environmental physiology, sensory-movement behaviour, physical activity and health promotion, coaching, and sport psychology. Graduate students are drawn to the School of Physical and Health Education to work with specific research faculty members and benefit from their expertise in specific content areas.

The MSc program operates using a mentor model. The benefits of a mentor model are numerous, including clarification of research and other funding support at time of application and focused supervision from the time of registration. The MSc program prepares graduates for further research training (e.g., doctoral and post-doctoral studies) and a broad range of careers in Kinesiology and related fields, such as medicine, health promotion, rehabilitation, sport, fitness, education, government, and industry.

The Bachelor of Education (BEd) program is part of our Schulich School of Education and meets the requirements of the Ontario College of Teachers for teacher certification (Certificate of Qualification). It is open to applicants presenting proof of graduation with an approved undergraduate degree from an accredited university. The program provided by the Schulich School of Education is rigorous and demands a high degree of commitment. At Nipissing you have the option to focus on one of our four streams: Policing, Corrections, Criminology or Criminal Justice Studies. Our flexible program is designed to give you a balanced combination of theory and practice. Through field placements, projects, and research, you will have opportunities to work alongside real criminal justice professionals.

In the Criminology stream, you will learn how to understand essential theories and methodologies used in the Criminology field. This stream gives you essential skills in communication, statistics, and analysis. We regularly offer courses in special topics like Women and the Criminal Justice System, and Youth in Conflict with the Law.

Marketing is about more than advertising and promotion—it’s also about making strategic decisions about products/ services, pricing, and distribution. In the marketing stream, you will develop the critical thinking skills you need to make good managerial decisions in a competitive marketplace. You will learn fundamental marketing concepts, research methods, market analysis, and strategies related to consumer behaviour, brand management, and business-to-business marketing. You will also learn about marketing communication, promotions, merchandising, public relations, packaging, as well as, direct and digital marketing. True to our more-than-a-degree promise, you will have plenty of opportunities to apply communication and interaction skills and to develop leadership, negotiation, and team management skills. The Marketing Stream offers a variety of elective courses in specialized areas such as sport, social marketing, international marketing, sales management, and innovative marketing. Nipissing’s Master of Environmental Sciences (MESc)/Master of Environmental Studies (MES) programs take a unique interdisciplinary approach by integrating ideas and methodologies from the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences to explore and address environmental issues. The programs consist of course work plus a Major Research Paper (one-year program) or coursework plus a Thesis (two-year program), and are offered on a full-time, flex-time or part-time basis. Students gain a broadly-based background in the study of the environment, and develop their own original research project in the context of current and future environmental challenges.

Our core courses are team-taught to provide a range of perspectives. Elective courses in the MESc program focus on topics such as environmental monitoring, forest ecology, watershed hydrology, and air and water pollutant chemistry. Elective courses in the MES program include the environmental history of land and subsistence, global environmental history, histories of environmental thought and watershed management. Our high faculty-to-student ratio provides a collaborative and supportive environment. Graduate students are paired with supervisors from one of several academic departments (Biology and Chemistry; Geography; History) who have a keen interest in and understanding of the field in which students will carry out their research projects. Students also have the opportunity to work alongside these faculty members as teaching assistants in undergraduate courses, and as research assistants. Depending on the research topic, students may also elect to have a co-supervisor, who may be from a different discipline.
