Northern’s Business – Marketing program is angled towards E-commerce and is designed to equip students with an array of high-tech marketing skills. The first year of this program will provide students with a solid and essential foundation in business. In the second year, they will be immersed in the world of marketing and E-commerce.

Business students can choose a combination of courses to suit their interests and needs. They are able to select courses from other Business program options offered – Accounting, Marketing. In the business world, solid accounting skills combined with marketing strategy and creativity are in high demand. By selecting a combination of electives from the marketing and accounting areas, students can actually customize a management program to fit their interests and strengths.

Information Systems Business Analysis
Today, virtually every type of business relies on Information Technology. More and more companies are challenged with how to make sense of vast amounts of data in order to improve their competitive position and growth. This has generated requirements for professionals savvy in both business and technology who understand how to turn insight into action. Computers, the Internet, wireless communications, databases are all forms of information technology which are used to collect, analyze, and share information. Information systems management examines how this technology can be used effectively in a constantly changing business environment. Critical skills will be developed in the following information technology areas: application software, business data analysis and modeling, customer engagement management, business processes, enterprise resource planning, and communications. A key part of this graduate program is the applied aspects of the curriculum. Students will have the opportunity to engage in the process of business analysis for information technology (IT) through case studies and industry projects. Graduates of this program could work as business analysts, information systems business analysts, management information systems analysts, etc. in large manufacturing companies, insurance companies, banks, or the public service sector. This program provides graduates with the knowledge and skills to develop and manage information systems to meet the strategic needs of any organization.

International Business Management
This International Business Management program will provide students with various business experience who would like to add to their credentials while building a solid foundation in international business practices and management.  Through lectures, class activities, readings, case analysis and project-based learning, students will demonstrate the command of the international theories and practices.

Nursing Management and Leadership
This program is designed for students who have Nursing qualifications from their country of origin, and who wish to work as leaders within the Canadian Healthcare settings. The program builds upon the foundational leadership/management within the profession while also providing an introduction to the Canadian Healthcare system. It will also provide a unique focus in students’ main area of leadership interests.

Healthcare Management
Healthcare Management Program is designed for international students with experience in the health care field who are seeking to enhance their existing post-secondary credentials and looking to transition into management roles in emerging Healthcare environments. Comprehension of patient needs, socio-cultural factors, behaviours and health services information are key focus areas of this program and will enable students to develop new skills in the areas of leadership, human resources management, conflict resolution, and strategic thinking.

Computers and network systems are everywhere: in industry, business, vehicles, law enforcement, laboratories and homes. Computer engineering technicians are needed to support them! This program addresses many applications for computers including business analysis, networking and system security. Computer Engineering Technicians maintain software, systems and networks to improve life for society. This program prepares students to write exams for certifications such as Cisco (CCNA), CCNA Security, Networks +, A+ Certification, Server+ and Linux + Certification.

This program is designed for individuals looking at a career or who are currently employed in the area of supply chain and logistics management. Students will learn to research and analyze the marketplace; develop demand forecasts; evaluate suppliers’ capabilities to deliver; utilize logistics technology tools and resources to assist in decision making; develop aggregate and master production plans/ schedules; and analyze business processes. Industry-standard theories, methods, and techniques (Six Sigma, Total Quality Management, Just-in-Time, Lean Theory of Constraints) and how they apply to supply chain management strategies and problem solving will also be covered.

This program is designed for students who have Nursing qualifications from their country of origin, and who wish to work as leaders within the Canadian Healthcare settings. Early Childhood Educators (ECE’s) are professionals who are part of a multidisciplinary team that may include behavioural therapists, speech pathologists, consultants, parents and school representatives. They assist children to make a successful transition to, and integration into the school system. In addition to working with infants and children up to 12 years old, Early Childhood Educators will also be part of a team and expected to work in a professional and competent manner with staff, parents, and community members. Graduates require good communication, critical thinking and problem solving skills, as well as sound judgment.

Besides planning and conducting the regular routines of the day, students will have the opportunity to observe children to determine their present skill level in each developmental area. Students will research, plan, carry out and evaluate a full range of program and curriculum activities designed to help each child reach his/her full developmental potential. A distinct feature of the program is the opportunity it offers students to gain practical work experience in a variety of settings: day care centres, nursery schools, parent resource centres, toy-lending libraries, junior and senior kindergartens, and before- and after-school programs throughout the community.

Event planning is a unique field requiring a versatile skill-set and education, including elements of business, public relations, social media, technology, critical thinking, culinary knowledge, photography and problem-solving. Aside from being recognized in the field of hospitality and public relations, Event managers are better educated, more sophisticated in terms of the fundamental management skills, and more versatile. Students will learn to develop, co-ordinate and manage a broad range of events, sites and facilities. This Event Management program will provide students with transferable, practical knowledge and skills in management practices such as planning design, marketing, human resource and volunteer management, sponsorship, catering management, budgeting, risk management and program evaluation.
