Marine Biology is a specialization within the Biological Science program. Within the marine biology specialization, students will learn about marine ecosystems and organisms, as well as have experiential learning opportunities in the marine environment via a semester abroad* at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS).

Do groups of people make better decisions than individuals? How do clinicians diagnose mental illness in children and adults? Can we empathize equally with people from different cultural backgrounds?

Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology program will receive a core first year of social science courses with their second year reserved for foundational psychology courses. Students will also be required to take a number of additional social science electives in their upper years of study. This program will be of particular interest to students wishing to pursue studies in the social, personality and developmental characteristics of human behaviour.

Students will receive a solid foundation in research methods and statistics as well as highly marketable skills in a variety of tech-focused domains. The knowledge students will gain from this program will put them in strong positions for additional education or direct-to-work opportunities in areas such as business, community development, advocacy, public policy, security and marketing.

Experiential learning

• Experiential learning opportunities will be fostered through volunteer, practicum, internship and directed lab research opportunities, each of which will give students hands-on experience in their field of interest.
• A limited number of fourth-year students have the opportunity to acquire workplace skills through an immersive internship or practicum experience with a partner organization.

This program offers a unique interdisciplinary approach to the study of neuroscience, with an emphasis on strong foundational science and practical laboratory skills.

Taught by area experts from the Faculties of Science, Health Science, and Social Science and Humanities, you'll study the nervous system at the cellular level, understand its influences on functional circuits at the macroscopic level, and learn how this forms the basis of behaviour, movement and neurological diseases. You will explore neuroscience from an evolutionary perspective, including a comparative analysis of the nervous system and behaviour among different animal groups.  Your understanding of the function of the nervous system at the molecular, structural, behavioral, and cognitive levels, will be developed through interdisciplinary study and hands-on laboratory learning in the sciences. 

Learn how force, motion, light, sound, electricity, magnetism and the structure of matter lie at the heart of natural sciences and immerse yourself in cutting-edge research.

This specialization within the Biological Science program consists of an integrated and focused concentration on biology and chemistry, with additional courses in neuroscience, physiology, and human anatomy. You will gain a detailed understanding of the structure and functioning of the human body.

This program provides an excellent basis for writing the Medical College Admission Test® (MCAT®) exam and for satisfying course requirements for applying to professional programs in medicine, pharmacy, and dentistry.

This program is unique in that it addresses policy and social justice issues, with a focus on the interrelations of communities including nations, regions, cities, towns, and social movements.

Our program emphasizes strategies for creating sustainable policies for community and international development, improved quality of life, and social justice and community planning.

This interdisciplinary major draws on faculty strengths in political science, sociology, public policy, history, communication and digital media studies, philosophy, legal studies, and economics to give you an integrated multidisciplinary background.

Experiential learning :

• A limited number of fourth-year students are granted an opportunity to participate in a learning experience with a community organization. The practicum is an experiential learning tool that provides students with opportunities to acquire workplace skills and knowledge, confront the relationship between theory and practice, and cultivate a sense of personal and professional development. The practicum course consists of 100 hours of fieldwork with a community organization, several in-class seminars and a set of academic assignments.

The Mechanical Engineering program is one of the broadcast engineering disciplines. In this program, students will learn the principles of mechanical engineering—motion, energy, and force—and how these principles are used to design and build the world around us. Within this program, you can choose the Energy Engineering specialization or follow the comprehensive program. 

Energy Engineering 

• Energy engineering is increasingly focused on the efficient and environmentally responsible use of energy systems, as well as energy security and reliability. You will specialize in all aspects of energy, from its generation to its end use, including energy conversion, storage, transportation and distribution. 

Foundation year

• All Engineering students begin with a common foundation year, regardless of program of study. During the foundation year you will learn about the various Engineering programs available.

Mathematics is a key component of problem solving and the dominant language of natural science. It permits clear and concise reasoning about phenomena too complex to be expressed in words. This program specializes in training students to find the underlying mathematics of any process and leveraging this ability into other disciplines. 

You will learn concepts, principles, qualitative and quantitative methods, and innovative problem-solving skills. Additionally, you will gain valuable experience by means of relevant, work-related research projects.

• This major prepares you for the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI) Global Education Inc. exam, the professional designation of Chartered Financial Analyst, and a successful career in the financial service industry.
