The only accredited program of its kind in Canada, the Automotive Engineering program prepares engineers to meet the need for advancements in the automotive sector by accelerating research and the development of alternative technologies, such as electric and fuel-cell driven vehicles.

Pursuing the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Liberal Studies program entails deepening one’s capacity for effective communication, incisive analysis, creative thinking, and critical self-reflection. The program is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to adapt to and thrive in a dynamic employment environment. It is not just a university graduate’s overall sum of knowledge, but the capacity to increase, deepen, distribute and apply that knowledge, which matters most in an ever-changing world.

Experiential learning

• A limited number of fourth-year students are granted an opportunity to participate in a learning experience with a community organization. The practicum course consists of 100 hours of fieldwork, several in-class seminars and a set of academic assignments.

The Mechanical Engineering program is one of the broadcast engineering disciplines. In this program, students will learn the principles of mechanical engineering—motion, energy, and force—and how these principles are used to design and build the world around us. Within this program, you can choose the Energy Engineering specialization or follow the comprehensive program. 

Energy Engineering 

• Energy engineering is increasingly focused on the efficient and environmentally responsible use of energy systems, as well as energy security and reliability. You will specialize in all aspects of energy, from its generation to its end use, including energy conversion, storage, transportation and distribution.

• Optional internship and co-op placements provide you with the opportunity to gain meaningful hands-on experience.

The amount of data generated by, and available to, companies, governments, and individuals, is exploding. There is an urgent need for individuals who can grapple with massive amounts of data and extract key information. As a Computer Science student in the Data Science specialization, you will develop the knowledge, skills, and tools, to set you up for success in this desirable job market. You will also develop critical problem-solving, analytical, and computational skills that will enable you to turn vast quantities of data into insight.

Our program prepares nurses who are committed to excellence and innovation in assessing and meeting the nursing needs of society. You will learn about nursing practice and the human experience of health, illness and healing. 

Collaborative learning activities allow you to take an active role in your own learning. In addition, our high- tech nursing labs and simulated learning opportunities provide you with practical, hands-on experience with the latest technology at your fingertips. 

Graduates of the program are eligible to write the National Council Examination-Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN). Individuals must comply with the registration requirements of the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).

• With the Nursing program's strong clinical focus, you have opportunities each year to develop your nursing skills and knowledge in the finest hospitals and agencies in the region through clinical placements.
• Clinical placements are a core component in each year of the Nursing program, starting from the first year of studies. Force, motion, light, sound, electricity, magnetism and the structure of matter lie at the heart of natural sciences and technology. You will benefit from exposure to cutting?edge research in renewable energy, semiconductor devices, microelectronics, nanotechnology, materials science, biophysics, computational physics and astrophysics.

Pursue your studies through the Honours Physics Program, or choose to specialize in one of the following areas:-
Astrophysics: You will explore the current state of knowledge in astrophysics, examine new and emerging theories, and utilize modern techniques to analyze and solve problems in astronomy and astrophysics. Students in the Astrophysics specialization develop extensive knowledge in physics and math, as well as strong analytical and computational skills. This specialization will prepare you for graduate work and a wide variety of career options in astronomy and physics.

Energy and Environmental Physics: This specialization emphasizes alternative and conventional energy. You will learn the scientific principles underlying the development of novel and economical means of generating and harvesting energy, while simultaneously minimizing the environmental impact.

Experiential learning:
A five-year Co-operative Education option is available in all of our Science programs (except for Forensic Science, which already has an embedded experiential component), all of which satisfy the guidelines of the Canadian Association for Co-operative Education. These programs combine an Honours Bachelor of Science program with embedded work terms. The co-op option gives you opportunities to apply your classroom and lab concepts to real-world situations and help you gain valuable, relevant work experience to promote networking and lifelong career success.

The Mechatronics Engineering program is an interdisciplinary engineering field. It integrates mechanical and electrical systems with real-time control, combining hardware with software to produce new devices such as consumer products, medical devices, high- tech automobile systems and robots.

The Game Development and Interactive Media program is designed to provide students with a wide range of game design development expertise. You will be immersed in the game design and development process from day one and you will develop video games beginning in your first year. Successful students develop their technical, managerial and entrepreneurial knowledge and skills in a diverse team environment. Working with programmers, artists and designers you will create innovative products that push the medium to its limits. You will acquire the knowledge and skills required to quickly advance your career in the gaming, interactive media and simulation industries, or become an entrepreneur in charge of developing and managing your own gaming/interactive media studio. 

Our innovative gaming and virtual reality laboratory is equipped with state-of-the art software and equipment including motion capture facilities, an audiometric (sound) room, 3D displays, and the latest in interaction devices to allow for the development of high-quality animation, 3D models, sound recording and production, game engines, and gameplay code.

Experiential learning

• You will gain firsthand experience through internship work placements (locally or abroad) or Capstone study projects in which you work as a team to provide consulting services to one of our industry partners.
