Mandatory Degree Co-op

This two-year diploma program will establish your understanding of business management and entrepreneurship and introduce you to the digital tools and the skills necessary to succeed in the modern economy. This eight-month certificate program will introduce you to modern manufacturing techniques including programming and Computer Assisted Manufacturing (CAM). You will study both theory and practical aspects of modern metal machining and cutting while focusing on programming, advanced manufacturing techniques and interpreting engineering drawings.

The art of floral design requires expertise with colour, materials, shape and space. Floral designers must understand how flowers and foliage become tools to achieve the right arrangement for the occasion. The eight-month Floral Design certificate program frames this understanding in a creative and business context to allow for artistic arrangements that satisfy the aesthetics of the designer and the customer.

Through active, hands-on learning experiences in the floral lab, you will understand how to integrate theory and practice to produce the perfect design.

The Remotely Piloted Aircraft – Business Operations graduate certificate program will prepare you with operational and management skills for developing and sustaining businesses in a wide variety of industries. This includes agriculture, security, construction, mining, government, aerial photography, law enforcement, oil and gas, solar panels and cable power lines, etc.

This drones/drone flying program offers cross-disciplinary learning that includes leveraging business, entrepreneurial topics and flight operations including the study of law, privacy and ethics. Your experience includes flight training at AlteX Academy’s Drone Flight Field. When you graduate, you will be equipped with the ability to ethically and professionally utilize Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) to meet business goals, whether you choose to support an existing business or start a business of your own. You will also be able to ensure compliance with service guidance, company policies and procedures to support RPAS industry safety.

A capstone research project will allow you to investigate, plan and take ownership of an idea that would benefit the use of RPAS. In addition, the program will prepare you to write the exam for the Small Remotely Piloted Aircraft System Advanced Operations Transport Canada certificate, which is mandatory to operate any drones above 250 grams in Canada.
