In the second year of Sheridan’s Plumbing Technician program, you’ll learn advanced concepts that can save you hundreds of classroom hours during an apprenticeship. You’ll also put your new skills and knowledge to work in a field placement.

Earn Your Gas Technician 3 License
Plumbers are in high demand these days, and so are gas technicians. No other plumbing college program in the province provides gas technician training approved by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA). Once you successfully complete your G3 gas technician courses, you’ll be qualified to hook up furnaces, water heaters and other gas-fired appliances.

Bring the worlds of electrical engineering and mechanical engineering together. After studying general mechanical engineering concepts in your first year, you'll focus on programmable logic controllers and robotics in your final two semesters. When you graduate, you'll be qualified to help design, install, maintain, operate, supervise and service complex electromechanical systems.

The program offers professional preparation for a quality assurance career, including in-depth coverage of material that appears on the examinations for the professional designations of Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE), or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) offered by American Society for Quality.

After completing two academic terms, students can apply for a paid co-op work term to gain professional experience while deepening their education. Enrolment is limited and requires a separate application process and requirements. To be eligible for acceptance in co-op, one has to have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and no D grade in the first term. To remain in co-op, similar academic performance must be maintained in the second term as well.

Companies in all areas of business and industry (including automotive, aviation, chemical, computer, electronics, energy, food, mechanical, moulding, plastics, and pharmaceutical) employ quality assurance personnel.

Co-op
Students in this program may apply to the co-op program during their first academic semester. Enrolment in the co-op program is limited through an additional co-op application process that takes place in the first semester. Students in the co-op program are eligible to complete a co-op work term during the 4-month term following the second semester. Co-operative Education is a form of work-integrated learning that links classroom learning with paid or unpaid work experiences within a professional environment. Co-op work terms are related specifically to the academic studies of each student. The work terms provide an opportunity to learn by doing. You’ll apply theory to practice, develop a meaningful view of the working world, and cultivate an awareness of yourself as a professional.

Students receive in-class and 1-on-1 career education support to help prepare for the work term. The co-op component is delivered by Sheridan’s Co-operative Education Office, which facilitates over 1,800 co-op and internship work terms per year Sheridan-wide.

Professors in this program also teach in Sheridan’s kinesiology degree and have real-world experience working with clients in many capacities — including clinical exercise rehab, chronic disease prevention and management, injury rehab, high performance, and strength and conditioning. Sheridan's Electrical Engineering Technician program offers you the opportunity to gain proficiency in advanced electrical and communication principles. You'll graduate from this two-year program with extensive hands-on experience and a broad skill set applicable to a wide range of industry contexts.
