Sheridan’s Practical Nursing program is your first step to becoming a Registered Practical Nurse in Ontario
Sheridan's four-semester Practical Nursing diploma program is approved (Category 1) by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). When you graduate from this program, you'll be eligible to apply to take the Canadian Practical Nursing Registration Examination (CPNRE). The program offers professional preparation for a quality assurance career, including in-depth coverage of material that appears on the examinations for the professional designations of Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE), or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) offered by American Society for Quality.

After completing two academic terms, students can apply for a paid co-op work term to gain professional experience while deepening their education. Enrolment is limited and requires a separate application process and requirements. To be eligible for acceptance in co-op, one has to have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and no D grade in the first term. To remain in co-op, similar academic performance must be maintained in the second term as well.

Co-op
Students in this program may apply to the co-op program during their first academic semester. Enrolment in the co-op program is limited through an additional co-op application process that takes place in the first semester. Students in the co-op program are eligible to complete a co-op work term during the 4-month term following the second semester. Co-operative Education is a form of work-integrated learning that links classroom learning with paid or unpaid work experiences within a professional environment. Co-op work terms are related specifically to the academic studies of each student. The work terms provide an opportunity to learn by doing. You’ll apply theory to practice, develop a meaningful view of the working world, and cultivate an awareness of yourself as a professional.
