Co-op
Students in this program may apply to the co-op program during their first academic semester. Enrolment in the co-op program is limited through an additional co-op application process that takes place in the first semester. Students in the co-op program are eligible to complete a co-op work term during the 4-month term following the second semester. Co-operative Education is a form of work-integrated learning that links classroom learning with paid or unpaid work experiences within a professional environment. Sheridan's Internet Communications Technology program provides an in-depth curriculum on the technologies of the Internet. The longest-standing Internet engineering undergraduate program in Canada, this program will provide you with a great deal of hands-on experience. Sheridan's Electronics Engineering Technician/Technology program graduates are employed in many career path jobs in a variety of industries. Employers know that our Electronics Engineering graduates enter the workforce with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to be productive from their first day on the job.

An industry-relevant curriculum
Sheridan stays current with the latest technology, so you'll work directly with the same equipment and techniques you'll encounter in the electronics engineering industry. You'll gain first-hand experience with power and energy systems, signal processing, computer simulation, digital communications, circuit board design, control systems, microcontrollers and embedded systems.

Advanced work and learning opportunities
Students can graduate after two years with an Electronics Engineering Technician diploma, or continue for an optional third year to pursue a Technology advanced diploma. If you do opt for the third year, you'll have the opportunity to apply for a paid, co-op work placement in electronics engineering that enables you to earn while you learn. (Enrolment limited through co-op application process.)

If you enrol in the three-year HR Co-op advanced diploma program, you may have the opportunity to participate in a program-related (paid or unpaid) co-op position.

The Cooperative Education program is only offered at the Hazel McCallion Campus in Mississauga, Ontario.

After building a strong foundation of mechanical engineering knowledge in your first two years, you’ll be exposed to more specialized subjects in your final two semesters. An understanding of niche concepts such as mechanical design, machine kinematics and dynamics, programmable controllers, fluid mechanics and energy systems may lead to better career opportunities when you graduate.

Gain real-world experience and build connections
Sheridan's labs simulate the workplace, but there's no substitute for real-world experience. Put your new mechanical engineering skills to work for our industry partners in two paid co-op terms: one after your third semester and another in your third year of studies. You'll also work with peers on capstone research and applied research projects that help our partners resolve real-world issues.
