In our two-year Visual and Creative Arts diploma, you’ll get rigorous in-studio training in every semester of the program. You’ll study 2D and 3D design, observational drawing, colour theory and painting. In second year, you’ll choose from electives to specialize in areas of interest and build a broader set of marketable skills to help you find work after graduation.

During your second year, you'll learn how to apply your studio skills to many art and design related careers, learning the basics of:

Professors who know the business
Because classes are small, you'll receive lots of personal support from your professors who are themselves highly experienced in the field. Most are still active in special effects makeup. Through your study you'll also be introduced to the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), the union representing the profession.

Practical, hands-on experience
During the summer following the first two semesters, you'll participate in a field placement where you can use your newly acquired special effects makeup skills in a professional setting. This invaluable work experience and exposure to professionals in the field can be a springboard for employment.

Throughout your educational career, you'll be presented with many opportunities to develop software, design next-generation mobile applications, implement pervasive information systems and analyze and plan wireless networks. Prepare for your career
Industry collaboration through internships and undergraduate research provides you with a variety of exciting job opportunities in this rapidly growing field. This program offers eight academic semesters with three co-op semesters for up to 12 months of industry experience upon graduation. You'll be well prepared to start your career or continue your studies in graduate programs.

Balancing theory and practice, this program offers an exceptional education in mobile computing, app development, software engineering and wireless technologies. What you'll learn

• Sheridan’s Mobile Computing degree program offers diverse courses in computer science, software engineering, mobile development and wireless networking. You’ll cover fundamental areas of computer science such as operating systems and computer architecture as well as advanced topics like artificial intelligence and theory of computation.You’ll also learn to develop programs in many programming languages like C#, C++, Java, Swift, Python, JavaScript and others using industry-grade frameworks and tools.
• You’ll take dedicated courses in software design and software engineering that inform the software development process. Specialized courses in mobile computing and wireless networking make this program unique, and ensure that you’ll be able to create advanced mobile applications that leverage cognitive computing, the cloud and the Internet of Things.
• You'll also have the opportunity to engage in applied research at Sheridan's Centre for Mobile Innovation (CMI) during your academic semesters and co-op work terms. CMI is one of our cornerstone research centres. It uses leading mobile and related technologies to create innovative solutions to health-care problems.

Stand out from the crowd by specializing in cloud computing, data analytics, game engineering or network engineering. You’ll be introduced to each of these growing fields of computer science in your first year of studies, then take eight courses in the area of your choice. At Sheridan, we believe the best way to learn is through hands-on experience. Between your third and fourth year of studies, you can work for our industry partners through a four-month internship or a paid co-op placement that can last up to 16 months. Sheridan's Craft and Design – Furniture program teaches you to design and create furniture for a career you'll love.

Design and make outstanding furniture
In Sheridan's Furniture Studio, design and making are interconnected. You'll gain real-world, hands-on experience designing and fabricating furniture pieces by incorporating an understanding of structure, function and aesthetics, creating beautiful and functional pieces. Our program provides a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to Craft and Design. You'll major in your studio of choice while building skills in the four other disciplines. You'll work with students and faculty from across all five studios on interdisciplinary projects that bring together a range of expertise and experiences to explore the potential of contemporary art, craft and design.

Writing music for screen and stage today is about teamwork. In this program, you'll collaborate with your peers in our renowned arts programs and bring projects to life with music. You'll compose music for animation, video games and apps, film, TV and musical theatre. No other music composition program offers access to these arts programs or provides the broad skill set clients and employers want.

Broaden your skill set
Composing music for screen and stage means being able to take on multiple roles. In this program, you'll develop a broad skill set. You'll learn orchestration, recording, mixing and editing. Using the latest technology, you'll compose music for several of Sheridan's arts programs, and create a workplace-ready demo reel that showcases your ability to work in a variety of media.

Become the complete package
This program brings music and technology together. Many of our students have either a formal music background or technical experience, but not both. This graduate music certificate builds on your existing skill set, while bridging any gaps in experience you may have.
