Take the design process from beginning to end
Sheridan's Industrial Design program gives you the tools to create smart, innovative and meaningful design. You'll go through the entire design process — from research to finished product. You'll look at design problems and imagine, develop and test solutions for specific audiences. Working with our other studios, you'll connect design with creation, broadening your knowledge.

State-of-the-art facilities
In this program, you'll use the latest technology to prepare you for success in the industrial design industry. You'll learn both digital fabrication methods and hand processes. Access to our state-of-the-art FAB LAB (with 3D printers and laser cutters) and our amazing faculty and students in other studios gives you a broad skill set to get you ready for a rewarding career.

Get a foundation in all Craft and Design studios
Our program provides a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to craft and design. You'll major in your studio of choice while building skills in the four other disciplines. You'll work with students and faculty from across all five studios on interdisciplinary projects that bring together a range of expertise and experiences to explore the potential of contemporary art, craft and design.

The Performing Arts – Preparation program at Sheridan provides a comprehensive one-year introduction to the performing arts:-
Practical experience
Gain first-hand experience in a wide range of disciplines, developing core skills that can help you advance to a more specialized performing arts school. This hands-on performing arts program offers an opportunity to:

• Improve your performing, auditioning and technical production skills.
• Learn to work collaboratively with other creative individuals.

The world of entertainment:-
You'll get to try your hand at acting, singing, dancing and comedy (standup and sketch). You'll also learn about the business aspects of the performing arts industry, forming an ad hoc production company with your classmates to stage a show at Theatre Erindale. Throughout both terms, you'll make field trips almost every week to see live concerts, plays and other professional performances.

Performing Arts – Preparation employs high-calibre faculty with the same excellent standards of instruction, most of whom have extensive professional experience in the industry. Graduates are encouraged to apply for further study at Sheridan or other institutions to develop their specific areas of interest.

• Attend several professional theatrical productions throughout the year from the major theatre companies in the area — including Second City, Stratford Festival, Mirvish Productions, Shaw Festival, Soulpepper Theatre and Canadian Stage.

• Engage in conversation with invited guest speakers who are prominent community members, including agents and directors.
• Increase your knowledge of how the performing arts industry works in Canada and how auditions are run by various theatre companies.

While this program does not provide preferred entry into further education, it does provide the knowledge and skills that performing arts schools require for admission.

Sheridan's Craft and Design – Furniture program teaches you to design and create furniture for a career you'll love.

Design and make outstanding furniture
In Sheridan's Furniture Studio, design and making are interconnected. You'll gain real-world, hands-on experience designing and fabricating furniture pieces by incorporating an understanding of structure, function and aesthetics, creating beautiful and functional pieces. From the moment you begin, you'll explore your creativity, develop and produce your ideas and test the limits of innovation.

Connecting furniture with society
Our students learn not only how to design and make furniture, but also how it fits into society. You'll have the opportunity to work with real clients and build a solid portfolio to launch your career. Sheridan's Internet Communications Technology program provides an in-depth curriculum on the technologies of the Internet. The longest-standing Internet engineering undergraduate program in Canada, this program will provide you with a great deal of hands-on experience. Our grads specialize in network communications and security, and work for a variety of Canadian and global institutions.

This program is for students interested in being at the forefront of computer science innovation.

The new computer science: mobile computing
Throughout your educational career, you'll be presented with many opportunities to develop software, design next-generation mobile applications, implement pervasive information systems and analyze and plan wireless networks. This program fosters an entrepreneurial spirit that embraces the mobile movement and is poised to prepare tomorrow's leaders in the new age of mobility.

Prepare for your career
Industry collaboration through internships and undergraduate research provides you with a variety of exciting job opportunities in this rapidly growing field. This program offers eight academic semesters with three co-op semesters for up to 12 months of industry experience upon graduation. You'll be well prepared to start your career or continue your studies in graduate programs.

Combine theory with practice
Balancing theory and practice, this program offers an exceptional education in mobile computing, app development, software engineering and wireless technologies. With a degree in mobile computing you'll receive preparation to become a well-rounded, job-ready graduate. Pursue a Capstone Project or a Thesis for maximum flexibility and future career options.

What you'll learn

• Sheridan’s Mobile Computing degree program offers diverse courses in computer science, software engineering, mobile development and wireless networking. You’ll cover fundamental areas of computer science such as operating systems and computer architecture as well as advanced topics like artificial intelligence and theory of computation.You’ll also learn to develop programs in many programming languages like C#, C++, Java, Swift, Python, JavaScript and others using industry-grade frameworks and tools.
• You’ll take dedicated courses in software design and software engineering that inform the software development process. Specialized courses in mobile computing and wireless networking make this program unique, and ensure that you’ll be able to create advanced mobile applications that leverage cognitive computing, the cloud and the Internet of Things.
• You'll also have the opportunity to engage in applied research at Sheridan's Centre for Mobile Innovation (CMI) during your academic semesters and co-op work terms. CMI is one of our cornerstone research centres. It uses leading mobile and related technologies to create innovative solutions to health-care problems.

This program was designed specifically for those who have completed university or college programs. It is also open to those already working in the school system as Educational Assistants who wish to further their understanding of exceptionalities in Ontario classrooms and obtain an Ontario College Diploma.

Field placements
In Semesters 1 and 2, you'll be placed in a school where you'll support students with special needs in the classroom. Sheridan arranges the field placement experience for you. During your placement experience, you'll encounter students with a range of exceptionalities including physical disabilities, intellectual disabilities, behavioural disorders, visual or hearing impairments and autism.

In this program, you'll also:

• Use assistive technology and other educational resources to implement individualized educational goals.
• Report information related to the learning environment.
• Maintain a safe and professional environment that promotes the well being of the student with special needs.
• Support inclusion of the student to aid his or her social development and sense of belonging.

You’ll learn from professors with specialized graduate degrees and who are highly experienced in the field of special education. Your Educational Support classroom activities will include:

• Group seminars and cooperative learning.
• Reflective practice linked to field placement experiences.
• Lectures combined with activity-based learning that incorporates the laptop.

A Computer Systems Technician – Software Engineering diploma is exceptionally marketable in our rapidly changing computer-driven world:-

The 4 cores of software engineering
As a program accredited by the Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS), we concentrate on four core areas of software engineering:

• Programming and software development in Java, C and C#
• Web technologies and web application development
• Database management and administration
• Network administration and security

Competitive edge
In this program, you'll gain practical software engineering skills that give you a competitive edge in the job market. You'll study computer hardware (including Computer Architecture and Linux/Unix Operating System) and business practice, management and analysis. There's also a concentration on math that will provide you with a deeper understanding of software engineering principles.

Stand out from the crowd by specializing in cloud computing, data analytics, game engineering or network engineering. You’ll be introduced to each of these growing fields of computer science in your first year of studies, then take eight courses in the area of your choice. Each field requires specific skills not taught in traditional diploma and degree programs.

Not a computer expert? No problem! You'll begin with the basics in your first year, learning about computer programming, networks, mathematics, scripting and database modelling. More than 80% of our Computer Science degree curriculum consists of core courses designed to develop fundamental skills that will prepare you to work in all areas of computer science, both now and in the future.

Internship, co-op and applied research opportunities
At Sheridan, we believe the best way to learn is through hands-on experience. Between your third and fourth year of studies, you can work for our industry partners through a four-month internship or a paid co-op placement that can last up to 16 months. You can also sharpen your research skills by providing computer science support to any of Sheridan's various applied research projects.
